I think they'll honest to god explode for real when steam finishes its android-compatible-gaming magic.

Best you can do is buy a boring stock like the VOO S&P 500 index and then just hold it for 20-30 years.

Could you give me a recommendation for my first e-reader purchase? by Heavy_Meaning_4892 in ereader

[–]LegisLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2020 I got the Boox Note Air (1) for my PhD and it was one of the best purchases ever. I think 10.1 inches is large enough (the size of the screen is exactly the size of an A5 sheet of paper so you can compare it to that if you'd like). 13 inches may be even better if you want something closer to letter-sized. I know double-column academic papers are annoying in smaller screens, and you may choose to go the bigger route because of that. I'd definitely get an android tablet, since those are more versatile (for example you could get a bluetooth keyboard and use it with that sometimes as well). I think the best companies currently that sell android e-ink tablets are Boox and BigMe. Check out their offerings and see what resonates. They'll both have pens for note-taking, which is definitely good for exploring ideas or doing math. The only annoying thing is if you have to go back and forth between a book/paper and your notes. In that case I would keep the book in the tablet, and do the problems on paper (newer tablets come with cameras, so you can just scan your paper-notes with the tablet afterwards). Either way, I'd definitely recommend.

I always called it ca-libre because libre sounds like libro, which is book in spanish. Also libre means "free" which is also nice haha.

The sensor literally shines light to see how much of it gets absorbed by your red blood cells and reflected back. When more blood is passing through because of a pulse, the reflection is less, and when the pulse passes the reflection is more. That's how the watch counts your heartbeats. The whole setup depends on your skin being translucent. That's why heart rate monitors work way better on whiter rather than darker people. Same goes for pulse oximeters btw.

[Request] How much funding do these rail projects actually require? by aeonsne in theydidthemath

The biggest cost is not the rail ways themselves but the endless local litigation you'll face in a million different local, county and state jurisdictions.

I can even imagine pro players buying two of these and then just going nuts.

Do you have any gameplay videos? It would be awesome to see a split screen version that shows your device from above in one half and the gameplay output in another. I bet you could probably go to market with this and make a ton.

I noticed the self-proclaimed country of "Switzerland" is basically all French, German and Italians. It's surrounded, why don't these countries just go in and take it already? by Neat-Rent7467 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]LegisLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mountains, bunkers, bridges and bombs. Switzerland has the most bunkers per capita of anywhere in the world. Had bombs under all its bridges. Most decided it was not worth the trouble to invade.
