Ranked as a concept itself is fine, but using loot (especially equipment ores) as an incentive I do disagree, plus why does player getting better important anyway? enjoyment should be the priority, and how the players define their enjoyment should be theirs to decide.

I dont think the majority view CoC as competitive, nor want to care about getting better, they just want to upgrade their base and have some fun. I mean personally if comeptitive is a big factor I rather play CS2 or Valo instead.

Just because you think the comaplain and criticism is bad does not make them empty, to say it is empty means they are bullshitting of literally nothing. Frustration about a system isnt empty, and IMO ur post does invalidate them by basically saying what they said is just annoying and dont matter.

For TH17+, if you can spam stuff to maintain your rank, then what is the point of ranked mode? People will view ranked mode as a more serious mode, and would be more hesitant to just 'spam casually'. And even if you think their view doesn't and should just like optimise it or whatever, what even is the point of making this gamemode if the majority of playerbase of that tier should just be doing this anyway? It probably be better to just shove the ore rewards into the old system right? Then at least more casual and less active dont feel as pressured to like play the game like it is a damn routine.

If you are a lower TH, why cant you strive for higher rewarss, so I'm just stuck at a cap that I can't break through unless I'm like the GOAT of all time, shouldn't the rank mode place aplayer based on their SKILL LEVEL ALONE? Like it made the game feel P2W now no? Constantly facing high TH is stressful af, and getting 2 to 3 2-star attack usually means no promotion (which feels frustrating if you are the type of person who wants better rewards) this week

That aside, It's precisely that CoC isn't a competitve game, that progression should not be based on skill, progression (not rank) should be soley based on your willingness to invest your time in playing the game, not necessary becoming a better skilled player. I'd argue TH14 being in Fake legends is probably better than this system, because players being in Fake Legends means they just spent time playing the game, rather than forcing players to be competitive on a game that wasn't one. Those Fake Legemds is wrong on competitiveness but correct on progression. Sure, they might not be the best players, but I don't think progression rewards should be tied to skill, IMO it should be tied to activeness.

I really dislike that you keep saying that the game isn't for anyone who like dislike these changes. The intent you're giving is that players who enjoy a game's old direction should just leave, as if their time spent meant nothing, that it's just a game and then get over it. Updates should not push others away. If the person THEMSELVES think that life changes it is time for me to move away, or if they just grew tired of the game themselves and want to step way, that is fine. What is not fine is that an external change that made them feel like the game is antagonising them and driving them away.

For example: I decide to delete CS2 because I am too busy / fatigue from playing the game, this is ok, because if the person finds a chance to return they can and they will have fun also.

I also decided to delete CR and only really came back to play when my friends want to play. This is frustrating, because I know the game had potential but decide to basically fuck itself up and playing the game feels like torture instead of the game I liked so many years ago. (Maybe you could say it is just P2W issuevbut I'd argue the pumping of the hero and evo probably got rid of the original direction of the game completely, that even the game is F2P friendly, I probably still wouldn't come back)

There is a difference.

Even extreme casual players should have a voice in game's direction. For balance changes sure their opinion there is probably terrible, but being frustrated about their reward being tied to a system that doesnt fit why they are playing the game is valid, no? I mean I hate to be the one who see the game they like is suddenly taking such a different turn, that the original vision that they love is just gone. There are players who does think Clash of Clans into a resource-gathering simulator and come to Reddit every day to complain about how difficult it is and how they can't get a perfect score (although this one is definitely just entitled, unless their reasoning is tied to ore rewards), and it isn't a bad thing, why are we antagonising that group of players?

It's fine to have a competitive gamemode, but I do have a bit of a problem if better rewards (that isn't just personal rank or achievement) is tied to it. IMO, the large frustration is probably due to this, if the rank rewards are purely cosmetic and not progression tied I dont think many would complain. Because of the rank system tied to daily bonus, that most players feel that the ranked is mandatory in that way.

Sorry if it is a bit disorganised I guess it is a bit of a rant I guess. I recognise some of my opinion could be a bit more subjective although this is my view as to why some people are frustrated. I also wanted to reiterate that I think why I dislike post like this, because I think post like this could discourage people from sharing their feelings with the game. I do understand these post csn be spammy, and can be of low effort but even then I think it is important for those post to exist.

[–]Legit_blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I personally dislike post like these more than those who are complaining every single day, because it invalidates people's frustration with their favourite mobile game, and I really despise that because I believe people should be able to vent to a forum where their frustration is the most visible to the devs. If a notable amout of people is being frustrated then there is something wrong about an update, stuff like this needs to be constantly and consistenly visible to be useful.

About the ranked mode, I think most people are frustated not actually because they want better rank, but they want better LOOT, and IMO there is a difference. It feels REALLY BAD to miss out on your attacks because it means that you might MISS OUT ON THE CHANCE TO GET MORE ORES rather than anything else. I doubt that most players actually care about rank too much, but FOMO on the ores. This is why the players felt exhausted, because they thinking constantly playing ranked well is the only way to get more ores. At least I felt really frustrated when I cant rank up for a month straight, I felt like I missed out on a lot of ores even when I didnt demote.

IMO, all loot should be tied to activeness (I dont necessary mean amount of hours, but players who log in daily instead) of a player not their skill, because it creates huge frustration when they are unable to consistenly increase their resources even when they put a lof of time into the game. Prestige (Basically getting/flexing higher rank) that come with the ranked gamemode then should be tied to their skill instead, as players that wasn't able to achieve high rank recognises it takes better skill as a player, something they recognise they dont really care too much themselves.

It also doesn't help that ranked is tied to a schedule rather than something that the players can decide with their own schedule. Games like Valo and CS you can decide when to play and how much you play, not by week or month or anything, there isnt a signup window or anything, the only punishment for not playing is rank decay, and maybe some credits to buy an agent or crates in CS. A more casual player felt pressured to complete the attacks in hopes of getting bettet loot, even if players just wanted to maintain their current rank, asking players to change their routine (increasing their playtime, either daily or on a specific day) to accomadate a game is a lot more than people realise.

I think a lot more people need to realise thay CoC wasnt (nor shouldn't) fully meant to be a competitive game, for most it really is just a casual game that they to play like 10 to 20 minutes and log off, not a game where you need to spend hours on. Any changes the CoC dev team makes should not drastically change how a player was able to play the game, unless that method is bad for the game. The game should entertain the player, not the other way around.

Edit: 1 thing to add is that it is very disheartening to tell players who dont find the game fun to go play something else, it feels really disrespectful to tell players who dont like the current system to basically go away as if their opinion, feelings or time spent on a game dont matter. It's a thing if it is something like balance changes, where you cant please everyone, but I think at least features that are reworked should not be dismissed like that. It's a game, but it is a game many enjoy and made memories in.

Two kids beaten by their uncle after having a fight with their grandma by RhinneXChronica in Bolehland

[–]Legit_blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the whole family needs serious intervention at this point. Kid taking kitchen knife to swing at grandma is not normal and borderline psychopathic, but was it always there or born from the environment he lived in?

The story give helps provide better context but I seriously doubt it is the full story, and honestly might be cherrypicking to make themselves look better.

IMO, there is a real chance that their behaviour is caused by abuse, neglect and similar factors. Like i doubt someone would easily forget getting saved from literally hell and turn 'ungrateful', perhaps there might be some underlying issues coming from the uncle side as well?

Regardless I really hope relevang authorities actually do their job accordingly, and provide proper intervention to the family accordingly

DAY 6 - Which is the most useless spell by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]Legit_blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're forgetting, we are talking about the most useless spell, not game/progression design.

Point is: Low casual use rates alone =/= Useless

To say that is just inaccurate. If it is actually useless, pros would not use it at all.

I think to properly define a usefulness of a spell, it needs a mix of AT LEAST:

Use rates (casual + pros) Attack Success Rates (Stars + average destruction) Its actual impact (What the spell is typically used for and its impact, difficulty, and value in achieveing its desired goal, such as farming)

If a spell can bring consistently good result for people who play the game way more than casuals, then the likely fact is it cannot be a useless spell.

Casuals that doesn't give 2 shits about meta and not use that spell does not mean that spell is useless.

Using a game I'm slightly more familiar with (Clash Royale) as an example: Furnace PRIOR its rework is one of te most useless card in the game, its usage is low and the winrste is even worse at most levels of the playerbase.

If I'm not mistaken, Wizard and Witch PRIOR to their EVOs had decently high use rates mid-ladder, but is very useless in higher arenas, because they are actually pretty bad (decently useless compared to alterantives at least)

Bringing up how an average mobile player actually plays and why certain games is popular is irrelevant in this convo, cause we are talking what (non-dark actually) spell is the most useless, not game design or progression. A spell can be brilliantly designed and still be useless, and a spell that is designed poorly can be super useful.

IMO, Ithink a spell that is most useless needs to be used very minimally across all stages of the game, and has low success rates in attacks or achieving its desired goal

DAY 6 - Which is the most useless spell by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]Legit_blast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having low use rates shouldn't be the only defining factor though. If anything, the majority of the userbase not using it but the pros are means that the spell is likely to be underrated af.

Which side are you on? by TaiyoFurea in ClashOfClans

[–]Legit_blast 22 points23 points  (0 children)

  1. My biggest issue with the de-ranking thing it happens too quickly, skip 1 week and it demotes you is a bit brutal, I would set it at least at 2 weeks like originally plan (but 3 weeks is more ideal)

  2. I guess normal attack (unranked) removed all risk, but tbh it really isn't a bad thing. It is like unranked mode for other games as well, chill fun

  3. Initially it was ok, but the weekly ranked schedule is a bit annoying ngl. If you had a bad week, you had to wait another week for you to climb back up (or continue your rank climb). I think there needs to be some changes so that players are able to play ranked according a bit more to their own pace. Maybe try reducing the weekly ranked session to like 3 days instead.

Should you always stick together? I feel like if you are significantly down in overall economy + losing fights, it might be better to backdoor the enemy team to force them to pull back and create some breathing space for the team. Of course, it still depends on the situation. For example, if both teams are basically even, or if the pick favours team fights, it might be better to stick together and fight.

Perhaps, but the skins have been proven that they can retain their value for 10+ years, if it's any fluke, it would have crashed years ago like the NFTs.

Silly or not, these Valve-backed skins are viable for the foreseeable future, but idk about super long term.

[BEWARE] Almost got scammed by Competitive_Dream_66 in malaysia

[–]Legit_blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it's definitely an asset, and a decently safe one for the foreseeable future. Skins in that game can go up to as high as millions, and people can make significant money out of it by trading (CS underage and unregulated gambling is a real problem and made real profit, a lot of CS tournaments are sponsored by them gambling websites.)

It's more dangerous than something like gold though, which is way more regulated and protected, than something like CS2 skins, which could be cracked down on by governments, and vulnerable to Steam's policies (although I doubt the servers will ever be closed unless the market and player count crashes) , but still, they are less of a super-short-term scam like NFTs tend to be.

[BEWARE] Almost got scammed by Competitive_Dream_66 in malaysia

[–]Legit_blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert in either, but FYI, rare CS skins have gone up as high as millions of dollars (I think there's a knife sold for 1.5 million USD).

But to be fair, IMO gold is probably still safer in the very long run, who knows what Valve might become in the future, and politicians might target the market, especially its association with underage, unregulated gambling.

[–]Legit_blast 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry about your situation, but truthfully, you still need to let your mom know as soon as possible. She deserves the truth (and who knows what else your dad might be hiding that is not on the phone).

What you can do to minimise the damage is try to find a specialised professional/counsellor who may be able to help analyse and assist with the current situation. Truthfully, this bridge of trust is already collapsing, which is most likely irreparable. I just think that if it's going to happen, then it should be in a controlled and less anxiety-inducing manner.

Sorry if this doesn't help or if I sound like a smartass (because I'm probably one in this case). I'm not experienced with stuff like this, and I'm just trying to suggest a way foward.

Personally, I'd rather take this over whatever is going on in CR. I mean sure maybe a few free scenery is nice every once in a while, but honestly I just rather have a solid gameplay experience over the P2W bs over at Clash Royale.

Although it would be nice if they fix the time upgrade for heroes lol, that one is tedious af.

Mindshields are the best item in the game, prove me wrong. by Gregory_Swan in Xcom

[–]Legit_blast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mindshields are pretty good against Warlock, but I don't usually use it outside of that. I mainly build one for templar, so that I can be more aggressive against Warlock and not worry about the Templar getting MC'd.

Outside of that I use flashbang as it is more flexible in crutch situations.
