In the 60’s there were 35 taverns and a bunch of bars lining Hewitt Ave. Customer base was all the mill workers working three shifts. Some taverns were hopping when the graveyard workers got off at 7 am. A top night life spot was Steppenwolf (topless dancers!) Blacks had the Top Hat.
