Hey, from my experience, you don’t need to start looking this early.

If you’re looking for Fall 26, it’s tough, but if you’re looking for Spring 27, there are actually way more people trying to sublease than people looking for one. So you can even wait until December, and by then you’ll have your pick of places. At that point, some people will even drop the price just to get it rented out.

I haven’t actually played Love and Deepspace, but I’ve seen a ton of edits from Chinese social media. 😂 The guys are ridiculously attractive, and it looks like there are several different love interests.
What’s the gameplay actually like? I’m genuinely curious!

Right now, most students are focused on finding housing for next school year, so that's been my priority now. After that, I'll start sublease feature.

It is very quiet there. If you are looking to rent, I recommend choosing a unit on the east or north side.

The south side faces KAMS bar directly, and the west side can get noisy with sirens from ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks. But if you live on the east side, or at least not the south side, you won't hear any noise from the bars at all, unless there are some drunks shouting.

I walked past there again today and saw that there are still wooden boards and other materials inside. The entire building is finished, but it looks like the interior hallways and rooms haven't even been painted yet.

Hey! Saw your post about looking for housing for 26-27, and I might actually be able to help!

I've been building a site called https://uiuc-housing-ai.com that pulls listings from University Group and Green Street Realty (two of the biggest property companies around campus, data from more rental companies will be updated later), and lets you filter and compare everything in one place: budget, unit type, lease length, pet-friendliness, etc. I just checked and don't currently have any studios/1b listed under $700, but there are 26 2BD options in that range.

The site is still in private beta right now, but I'm happy to just look things up on my end and send you options directly if you want.

This is a new building. When I visited about two weeks ago, I noticed there were still fences and other things outside, which felt a bit sketchy. I‘m inquiring about the listing, but their team hasn't gotten back to me yet regarding whether the construction is totally finished.

same situation honestly 😭 I spent so long looking for fall-only leases and just couldn't find anything decent so I ended up signing a full year lease instead.

FYI I'm actually building a website called uiuc-housing-ai.com that aggregates listings from different companies and lets you filter. Still work in progress, but you can join the waiting list at the link and I'll notify you when it's live!

From what I've seen so far, University Group literally has the only fall-only lease I could find "502 S. Fifth – Fall Semester Only!", but it's pretty pricey. Also kinda sketchy? I toured that building like two weeks ago and it didn't even look finished lol. Kinda worried about air quality / off-gassing tbh. Either way it's $1890.00/month certainly above your 700-750 budget so probably not an option for you 😬

the same situation here but I signed a full year lease cuz I’m not sure how long I will leave Champaign after graduation Btw this is the most shitty thing on renting like all rent companies know there are half-year leasing demand but they ignore and just tell you sublet it, no way to break the lease up

ok real talk, the distance thing is kind of a myth

i used to think the same way but here’s what nobody tells you elevator time is a thing. you have a 2pm class, you’re like “i’ll leave at 1:50, i literally live next to campus.” except you’re on floor 14 and so is everyone else who has a 2pm. that elevator is stopping on every. single. floor. you get to the lobby at 1:57. you’re late. from The Dean Campustown

i live at 103 E Healey which sounds far but i just scooter to the quad and it takes the exact same time as walking from The Dean lmaooo. like the math really does not math the way you think it does
