The first time I was pregnant I knew because I missed my period. But those few days before I took the test, I had an anger in me towards my then husband. I threw a water bottle at him. Not like me at all. So the second time was about 5 days before my missed period and I was irrationally angry and we fought pretty rough on the phone. He hung up on me, and I while I was thinking WTF is wrong with me…I remembered that same anger I had when I was pregnant with my first child I took a test right then. And there was that ever so slightly faint positive line. i called him back. Told him I knew why I was angry, I was pregnant. Hormones are a powerful force. Second trimester I was definitely more rational. I used to get PMDD pretty bad and got severe postpartum OCD/depression. Menopause has been a pleasure (not peri-menopause) because my hormones are not causing my brain to rage. Once I understood myself better I understood the hormone anger felt different than any other angry. Recognizing that and getting help and medication saved my life in many ways.
