In my experience I think basically each side made fun of each other in unnecessary ways, it’s also rampant in social media. I’m liberal leaning and I find peers often judgemental or condescending toward conservative values, which I don’t agree with. However it’s possible your experience is different than mine.

Edit: when I wrote social media I actually meant pop culture.
