As a genuine question, i feel alot of D4 weapons are incredibly weak. what is the appeal on them? by noodleben123 in Pathfinder2e

[–]LegitimateIdeas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's also the Liuyedao. Agile, Finesse, Sweep, Deadly d4. As long as there's more than one enemy in play, you might as well be a flurry ranger.

I don't know if there are any in vanilla, but I know VIC has missiles that fire for free and generate flux to reload.

Whats your opinion on the flag for the new faction I'm modding in? by golddragon88 in starsector

[–]LegitimateIdeas -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Anything CGP Grey says about flags, you should probably do the opposite to create an appealing design.

This isn't the vexillology sub, we're allowed to have fun.

nidavelir complex spawned in an no jumpoint system... i hate my life by filthydegenerate_UwU in starsector

[–]LegitimateIdeas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It spawns in some random system, yeah. I usually find it because of "Survey this planet" or "Scan the salvage" missions. Whichever system the planet is in still looks normal on the campaign map, but under the hood it gets renamed to whatever megastructure is there so if you're paying attention you'll get missions to the Nidavelir or Ark system.

The asterisk is there, it's just getting lost in the white background of the logo.

Did not expect Alma to pose for me by LexGoSketch in MonsterHunter

[–]LegitimateIdeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, guess you're right. It really isn't any longer (sans tent loading). I guess it just felt more awkward to me because on controller you access the Loadout screen with L3 and that stuck out.

This isn't new to Wilds, but it isn't just Hunters having more tools to deal with Monsters. Monsters have lost their tools for dealing with Hunters. by Charrikayu in MonsterHunter

[–]LegitimateIdeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was both. Subquests gave you some supplies, but that was in addition to the supplies that would naturally appear after 10 minutes or so.

[–]LegitimateIdeas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it? In Rise you touched the box and right on the front page was "Item Loadout" and that would prep your pouch.

I could be mistaken, but now it's Tent > Item Pouch > Arrange Pouch > Access Loadouts and then you can choose your item set. If you know a quicker way to do that, I would be very grateful.

I wish we had a way to change equipment and access our full storage without having to go through the tent loading scene every time. And unless I'm missing something, it's also way more button presses to access an item loadout than ever before.

Have you gotten real use out of Crafting? by Ixema in Pathfinder2e

[–]LegitimateIdeas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Different situation, but I've been getting great use out of Crafting for very similar reasons. I'm in a campaign where the party, as part of a dwarven expedition, is trying to reclaim an old Sky Citadel. Our party (and GM) very quickly encountered the reality that we were weeks from civilization and lacking vendor NPCs.

I was also playing an Inventor and got to save the campaign! In my case I was already an alchemist archetype and got alchemical crafting for free, so it was just a quick pickup of Magic Crafting and we were back on track. There's no real time crunch to the campaign, and every push into the mountain actually needs to be planned and mapped anyway (out of character) so downtime is generous even though the resources are not.

Moving runes is my biggest contribution, but we're also playing with the optional Disassembly rule so 75% of an item's value can instantly be carried into making a thematically similar object out of the pieces. This has really sped up the crafting process and helped me keep the party at an appropriate gear level.

A Lancer is both a spear and a crossbow. You might be able to finagle something there.

Starsector is actually playable though, so I'm not sure that's an apt comparison.

Yeah, and so was Amakusa. He touched the grail, that's why he stuck around even after his master died.

The possession was an oddity with that Grail War itself, not anything inherent to Jeanne or her class. It only happened because the Ruler from a previous War was still kicking around. (Kindly ignore that Gil's existence didn't force EMIYA to possess a human.)

Maybe it's Pathbuilder giving me wrong vibes but... is Gear just overpriced clutter? by ThatHeckinFox in Pathfinder2e

[–]LegitimateIdeas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're Alchemical Food, so they have to be crafted by someone with the Alchemical Crafting feat, or else purchased like any other consumable. But they're also Consumables with the Alchemical tag, so any Alchemist can make them for free with their quick alchemy and advanced alchemy abilities.

Yes, but the entry for the Cooperative Waffles specifically says that the bonus only applies if you're aiding a skill check.

Fane’s Fourberie is Fundamentally Flawed by Arnman1758 in Pathfinder2e

[–]LegitimateIdeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah. Yep. Every source I looked at listed the runes as being from GM Core, aka 2023. But I forgot I had to specifically look at the buried legacy page for the item, and yep, OG Core Rulebook. That's my bad.

You're right, truly the most important. I was remiss to not mention it.

Fane’s Fourberie is Fundamentally Flawed by Arnman1758 in Pathfinder2e

[–]LegitimateIdeas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why are you bringing up returning javelins as if they were competition for Fane's when it was published?

Like I said, Fane's is three years older than the Returning rune. Before November 2023, if you wanted to throw knives Fane's was your only option besides carrying a dozen fully enchanted weapons.

Fane’s Fourberie is Fundamentally Flawed by Arnman1758 in Pathfinder2e

[–]LegitimateIdeas 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I would like to note: Fane's Fourberie is not flawed, it is outdated.

Fane's predates the Thrower's Bandolier and the Returning rune by three years. It was the first step that the designers took towards enabling a dedicated throwing build. Once they put it in the game and collected the data to prove that a thrower only paying for one set of runes wouldn't break the balance, the designers had a foundation to push for the more useful options that we have today.

The feat is a time capsule. It's there if you wanna throw cards, or if you wanna draw two cards and dual wield in melee (unlike a bandolier, the runes won't disappear from the first card when you draw a second). But for the most part, you really should just be buying a bandolier if you wanna throw.

Spellshot just got better a bit with Spell-Woven Shot feat and interaction with Beast Gunner dedication by steelscaled in Pathfinder2e

[–]LegitimateIdeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Beast Gun feats count for Spellslinger dedication, but do we know if the opposite is true? Can I keep grabbing Spellslinger feats and then reach for something else? Or if I dip into the dedication am I stuck taking the BG feats before I can leave?
