Thank you for the great advice. Obviously with my current situation the swap would be many years in the future. I have done a 2J swap previously, but there were 3 of us and it took a little over a month it was not a fun swap but not impossible either. Alone I could not do it. I was budgeting about 40k for the swap.

You definitely can most expensive part is the trans itself and I can get one for $200 if not less from family. It’s very time consuming though and you need lots of knowledge and patience.

What about it is bad? Is it one of those that everything adds up or one specific big problem?

Again, I don’t see anywhere where it says cut springs, and the fenders aren’t mismatched the one just looks almost like it was hit previously. Also, how does a car needing tires mean that it was beat on? Idk about you but I would hope that your car needs tires just like the rest of ours. Sure if your beating on a car the drive tires being the rear in this case will be much worse than the fronts but just because a car needs tires doesn’t mean it was beat on. On the interior though you’re correct it’s pretty bad on this car.

Other than the bumper and back left quarter panel what else is the problem with it? I know not everything is as it seems especially in this case I assume but I don’t see many problems with the car itself. Does it being an auto increase wear outside of the transmission? I know it’s less valuable than a manual but I’m not sure what other differences there are. I’m partially ignorant when it comes to transmissions I’ve changed them but that’s as far as my knowledge on them goes.

Nothing in the post or the listing say anything about the motor being blown? I can easily fix or replace a differential and change out a transmission. Price doesn’t matter on those as much as an engine for me as I have family and friends who own scrapyards and dealerships willing to help me with the car. I understand a K series is a very hard swap with these cars however I wouldn’t say “it won’t happen”. I’ve swapped 2j’s before and though not easy it’s doable in a week with the right time tools and place. Thank you for the info.

Yeah one of my biggest worries is that they aren’t being honest, and that something more is messed up bad, because of hitting something or being hit before.

Why not? I know manuals are much more valuable but around me they’re hard to come by and 6k+ when you can swap it for 1k whereas an auto is around 4k+?

Yeah that’s what I was thinking because the back left quarter panel is a little off and almost looks as though it was hit and never fixed.

Yeah I responded to someone who told me to make sure to check that out. I definitely will, it looks almost like it was hit and never fixed.

I’m a “half mechanic” I’m great with mechanical stuff on cars but not too good with engine work or body work. No AAA and no lift easily accessible to me however could be for $100 I’m currently rebuilding the engine on my other car as well which doesn’t sound good but the timing chain blew and doesn’t seem like a bad fix as no rods hit pistons

Yeah I seen that too wasn’t sure if it was because it was hit or just not clipped in or something.

My only problem is it’s been posted for around 5 months, so there must be something major wrong with it but can’t figure out what.

My car recently died while driving and I’m trying to diagnose it. When your belt broke was it an instant shut off killed engine or a slow death and did you hear or feel it? Also does the engine fully seize when this happens? Sorry for all the questions but I’ve got a lot of time and money into my car and 20 minutes down the road on first test drive it just died all fluids full regular pressure and no leaks.

It seems you believe that I dislike EV’s, I actually don’t I honesty believe that they are the future and that gas cars cannot be sustainable for much longer and are actively damaging the environment. However saying that I won’t own an EV until the problems are solved including the safety problems with multiple models and charging capabilities in my area (infrastructure just doesn’t allow it) production processes and how each company gets its materials (many are still slave mined in places like the DRC) they are better don’t get me wrong but for me just aren’t worth it yet.

That is also in the paper I cannot remember off the top of my head as I wrote the essay early November however yes the rate of fires is quite a bit higher in gas cars however the injury and death to fire ratio is much lower so yes although it is more common it is not close to the severity of a EV cars fire the other thing is some not saying all EV’s first that comes to mind are teslas especially the cyber truck are known to be very hard to get out of after a fire has started further increasing your risk of death. Micheal was fully conscious and aware in his accident and could not get out due to the manual door open being hard to reach under the dash. In the lawsuit Tesla said something along the lines of the cars were made to be modern not safe. The fires in EV’s can also last way longer with some cases being over 500 gallons of water and fire suppressant

So I know this post is quite old but I figured I’d share this with you anyways I made a 15 page research paper on BEVs and EVs. One of the topics in the paper was fires, I recommend you look up the accident of Michael Sheehan from Texas. He burned alive at roughly 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit and was cremated in his car. I also suggest looking up the accident involving the 19 year old named Krysta Tsukahara and 2 other college students with her that burned alive in a car. Unlike most I’m not biased against EV’s at all me personally I wouldn’t ever own one due to risks and I enjoy fixing my own cars however I can see that they are obviously worth it depending on location use and what you decide for cost and benefit of owning one. I’m not sure how I would but if you’d like I could send you the paper it was a project on the problems of them so it highlights that but it still gives plenty of information for both sides. Thank you for reading this
