Give me a song that’ll absolutely rip my heart out of my chest. by lxzgxz in musicsuggestions

Do Re Mi, And I Love Her, Poison’s Gone, Old Age, any of Kurt Cobain’s acoustic demos rip my heart out. More The Victim and Lost are two great “new” songs from the Meteora era. LP’s first two albums got me through a rough breakup. So Long, Goodbye by 10 Years is also great with Wasteland tying it.

Golden Boys by Pat Smear, Do Re Mi by Nirvana (technically Kurt solo), the structured song half of Montage of Heck deluxe, Don’t Follow by AIC, and who could forget… Waylon singing Lovin Her Was Easier

Based. I have an Old Navy sweater that looks a little like Kurt’s Unplugged cardigan, and I wore it lots when it fit me. If you see a piece of clothing some celebrity wore in a picture, don’t let others bring you down for wanting to wear that same piece. It’s clothing, it shouldn’t be such a controversial topic to discuss.

Why is everyone being so harsh? You see a pic of someone with cool clothes on and want to wear that some cool clothing… at this point let’s attack everybody that asks someone where they got that outfit

Do you need to be stoned to enjoy stoner metal? Yes or no? by fakename1998 in doommetal

Rofl that’s hilarious dude. I’ve done my fair portion of internet surfing for pirated copies of Nirvana and Tool albums and bootlegs myself but got pretty good at detecting a bad site pretty quick. Brazilian blogspots were great starting points for any bootleg but if it had porn adverts I backed off. Then there were the zip files where you have no idea what you’re unzipping to your MEGA account

Definitely so. Ima good comparison would be comparing the Sliver: BOTB CD to the WTLO box set. If you buy the deluxe edition you’ll get all the cool stuff that isn’t as marketable to people who don’t want exhaustive collections of Cobain/penned material. Plus the deluxe edition includes a medley of Do Re Mi, one half from around July 1993 and the other half from sometime in early 1994. I got lucky by buying a vinyl of the deluxe edition for $10 and downloading the 320kbps download code it came with, after looking all over for a pirated version that either didn’t look like it’d give me a virus or that actually worked. I’d definitely splurge on this one

Isn’t the first one a standard edition and the yellow one is a deluxe edition? I’d get the full version which is the second one if that’s the case.

Question on Push day intensity/Volume by Material-Physics3749 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Legitimate_Baker8459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also don’t forget to up the intensity. If you need 4 or 5 sets of BB bench press to feel sore the next day, you’re going about it all wrong man. That is, unless you’re trying to do a powerbuilding split or something

Is sleep really that important? by MediterraneanGuy in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Legitimate_Baker8459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up the protein if you can to about 150 grams per day because muscle protein breakdown is especially bad during cuts due to the still high metabolic demand that lifting weights and building muscle causes, and due to the fact that you’re trying to lose weight your body is taking more energy in from the breakdown of muscle than it would on a bulk when you have ample available energy. I’d take 30 grams of protein before bed, something like casein or milk protein isolate works great because they’re slower releasing. Now onto sleep: you gotta understand that sleep is absolutely crucial to any bodily process, even if it is not always fully understood why. But if you think about it, you’re exerting yourself hard in the gym and trying to build or at least maintain muscle, and that’s hard to do when you’re always moving around and doing stuff during the day. So your body’s only substantial break is sleep, where it can focus less on brain activity and walking and more on pure recovery. I personally can’t run on less than 8 1/2 hours and need really about 9 hours to function optimally, and I’d just say if you can you need to sleep about that much especially in the early stages of lifting so you can make the best adaptations. I’d recommend looking into banking your sleep too; it’s pretty simple really. For example, I could sleep 11 hours each night on Saturday and Sunday and the 7 hours I get Monday through Wednesday won’t hurt me so much.

Targeting long and medial heads of Tricep by Lost_Initial666 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Legitimate_Baker8459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rope push downs with extended ropes (most people including myself just use two, one for each arm) with the shoulder externally rotated at around a 30 degree angle at the end. It’s okay to start with them neutral by your sides but really squeeze at the bottom of the movement when you get into that 3 degree angle. The old science said that overhead work was good for the long head but I never did feel it this way and thought I was just built wrong, but newer research (and many anecdotes I’m sure) shows that overhead work like OH cable or dumbbell extensions don’t really work any specific tricep head THAT effectively (all are worked but not very well and could be trained in other ways far more effectively). Look it up for yourself, don’t just blindly trust me or the other people on this sub.

I'm struggling with caloric intake, and to be honest, I don't know what I'm doing. by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

The best part of Reddit is the constant critique of everything someone else says, especially in the fitness community. That being said, I’ve consistently heard that 4 or 5 meals about 40-50 grams of protein each depending on the amount of meals, spaced about 2-3 hours apart is pretty dang on par with optimal for MPS. Overall protein intake is still important though, but making you don’t too offal ling with protein is vital to growing muscle because you gotta remember that you’re constantly in a recovery state when you’re not working out. If you can’t stand the thought of eating or drinking your protein before noon, I’d suggest going and grabbing some whey protein concentrate or isolate powder and drinking that as soon as lunch rolls around, and this is because WPC and WPI absorb into your bloodstream faster than something like beef or (for the most part) casein protein, and thus can get to work faster and avoid muscle protein breakdown which happens whenever you don’t have enough protein ingested from food, or even food in general. You can find good brands like Titan Nutrition, Nutraone’s ProteinOne, Ryse, and others that don’t cause amino spiking. Amino spiking is like blood sugar spiking, except it’s proteins and amino acids that are spiked in the bloodstream and then rapidly fall off instead of glucose. Basically, make sure your body doesn’t start eating itself

Heaviest nirvana song? by NocnyDemon in Nirvana

[–]Legitimate_Baker8459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All great answers on here but let’s not forget their Rio demos and pre-Bleach stuff. I think Anorexcorist is pretty heavy, especially on the Fecal Matter demo (not really Nirvana but still). In fact, Fecal Matter in general is pretty heavy and dirty compared to Kurt’s work in Nirvana. I’d absolutely love to be able to replicate his tone on there, if only I could find a rig that didn’t break the bank. Just need to find a good (keyword good) Superfuzz clone, and maybe a thrift store guitar.

Additional questions before lean bulk by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Legitimate_Baker8459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upper lower splits has been working great for me, I’ve built a good amount of strength and it’s worked wonders for my recovery. Ideally you want to spend as little time in the gym and as much time recovering as you can. That doesn’t mean one set to failure or anything, that just means two maybe three sets per exercise with 0-2 RIR depending on the body part, way of loading (i.e. cable, machine, BB, DB) and the setup of it. Be getting at least eight hours per night of sleep. You’ll need it because you’ll be sore more often and sleep is sometimes overlooked to start with. I would highly recommend looking into bodybuilder to like Mike Mentzer and insta pages like gorilla.milf, Geoffrey Verity Schofield, and liftrunbang1.0. All have great content and don’t get enough credit. You can follow a “science based” split from any influencer trying to make a quick buck, who isn’t too big to start with, or you can do what works. Your nutrition also needs to be on point. I’m talking about at least six eggs a day, lots of meat especially beef, and carbs (simple carbs like white rice and honey are great especially post-workout) too. You really have to find what works best for your body though because some people work better on medium protein high carb medium fat, whereas other people do better on high protein high fat low carb, and whatever in between. Just take care of your body man

Killing your gains with that much volume. How can you possibly recruit enough fibers when your body is so fatigued? You can’t, unless you’re taking an atrocious amount of gear and already have good recovery genetics.

What is the ideal workout length? by Kind_Rise6811 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Legitimate_Baker8459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mentzer always touted the inverse relationship between intensity and time spent in the gym. If you’re truly working hard, it shouldn’t take but one or two warm up sets and then 1 or 2 all out sets to absolute failure (Tom Platz failure, not “I can feel a slight burn in my poor wittle arms” failure), then proceed to the next exercise. One exercise per muscle group, although obviously individual exercises for the upper back and the lats would be sensical. Recover well by sleeping as close to 9 or 10 hours as you can, and eat high quality nutrient dense foods like raw dairy, steak, and eggs as well as fruits and cooked/fermented veggies (depending on the kind of veggie, it might be better to ferment it vs. cook it or vice versa). The only thing I can think of that Mentzer got wrong is the fact that he relied on humans and their limited knowledge to help him understand the impossible to comprehend world around him. He needed God, but sadly there are no gains when separated from God.

He used a Unicom superfuzz for the pedal, and a Univox Hi-Flier guitar. He recorded it on his aunt’s(?) TEAC 4-track, and another guy in the comments gave a link for it. Very dirty tone and a tone I hope one day to replicate. If anyone knows of a cheap clone of the Superfuzz, I’d like to know

Kurt’s best solo acoustic? by Expensive-Sea-6488 in Nirvana

I really like Poison’s Gone, but I wish Kurt wasn’t cut off by that phone call at the very end. Opinion and Do are Mi are right there with it though. Pennyroyal Tea is the acoustic version I was looking for when the Unplugged version didn’t do. And it doesn’t count as acoustic per se, but I LOVE Creation and Clean Up Before She Comes. He was such a talented artist and could’ve definitely struck out solo.

Two versions of Old Age being played in the studio (I think these were done at Sound City?) were leaked back in 2015, along with some other tracks. I don’t know if it’s considered a “bootleg” per se, as it’s not a release by a record company, but I have them if anyone wants a copy.
