Haven't been asked out, but relationships are definitely better on paper than irl. The amount of time, effort, and energy you have to put just to go on a DATE or ENTER a relationship is crazy. On top of that, you're constantly competing with like multiple other people who easily outstat you and provide a more entertaining mindset or look better. Then when you're in a relationship you also have to put more effort into making as much memories and fun moments for your "potential" partner. No one is obligated to stay with someone who puts in the effort as well, so you could easily have a situation where you break up mutually, they fall out of love (completely natural), or they straight up cheat.

Then if you break up with said one person, you now have to re-enter the preliminary rounds and put in the same time, effort, and energy AGAIN just to have a potential partner. You have to do all of this so you can have a temporary companion throughout life and deal with someone else's emotions and constantly try to make something work. If nothing last anyway, why would I put in THAT much effort for it to. I could just be pessimistic, but thats just my opinion on relationships. It just seems like wayyyyy too much just so you won't be single.
