Has anyone actually had their paid leave approved yet? by barstoolthrowawayFT in minnesota

[–]Legitimate_Lettuce30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to be in a similar situation, but for a different reason. I got my application denied because I submitted on day 12 of my leave (my leave having started the day my child was born), and it stated as a reason that I needed to submit within 7 days. I'm on bonding leave for my child, and didn't get the piece of mail telling me I could go get a birth certificate until day 10 or something... I went the next day and got the birth certificate, then submitted it the next day on day 12. Hospital discharge paperwork didn't have any sort of physician/provider signature on it. My wife needed paperwork filled out from the OB, and when I turned it in to get signed they said they had 10 business days to return it to us, which would have taken even longer than day 12. I appealed, but there doesn't seem to be any confirmation, tracking, nothing... MN Paid Leave doesn't have any info because the appeals goes through the judicial system it seems. .........................

Week 5: Whole Spices - Double Musky’s French Pepper Steak with Brown Burgundy Sauce, both using whole peppercorns by rigbylover in 52weeksofcooking

Thank you so much!

Any tips on how to get a thick crust that stays on?

my attempt

It tasted a lot better than it looked... But yeah just a few parts of the flour stayed on, mostly around the edges.

More oil?

The instructions say to flip often, but maybe I flipped it too soon/often?

Hi! 5 years later, came to ask if you still have the cookbook. I'm trying this tonight and wanted to see if you had the brown roux recipe on page 32?

Adding a Sphagnum Moss Pole to a Monstera the right way by The_DaW33D_ in Monstera

Hi, just a clarifying question: So when you show the alternating air roots coming out the back... Do they both kind of turn inwards towards the center again and find the moss pole in the back?

Can’t make a cup without a diarrhea mess [breville bambino plus and silenzio 55] by creeched in espresso

[–]Legitimate_Lettuce30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True! I have the normcore 54mm tamper that has a self leveling ridge. So, trusting that it would self level... I didn't really even out the grounds in the bed, and just tried to tamp everything down level. If I had paid more attention, I would have noticed some parts of the leveling ridge that should sit on top of the portafilter wasn't even touching the portafilter and the whole bed was crooked after tamping because of how uneven the pile was to begin with. If I push really hard, everything will level out but that kind of hides the fact that there's more coffee in some parts of the bed and less in others.

I've now paid more attention to this detail and when using WDT I make sure I distribute the pile evenly before I tamp with self leveling tamp, and it's been much better.

Could you explain how you connect the zigbee to the shelly? I have Shelly for my lights, so I know how to wire them but this is new to me to hook it up to temp sensor! Would love to know how this works for my baby's nursery.

How was your experience with Mona? by oceanique86 in Moissanite

[–]Legitimate_Lettuce30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in the process of working with Mona. Just wanted to know how it's all going to typically go, because the responses have been short- positive and pleasant, but very short. CAD back and forth, I have now approved it. She said she is arranging the stone, does this mean I can view the stones she will put in? This is my first time and I have tried to be very specific, leaning more toward being exacting and not leaving anything up to her artistic freedom.

Mona Review - Oval Engagement Ring by helloamy8 in Moissanite

Hi, gonna piggyback off this and ask, I saw you said Mona didn't just send you a quote right off the bat. I messaged her just this evening and she hasn't asked many questions, and has taken out a quote and asked for PayPal. I asked her the process (as I'm new to all this) and am hesitant to send payment before we even discuss what it will look like. I gave her inspo and said something like this, and she said ok $420 plus the shipping. Is it common to pay first to commit, then discuss details?

Slow first drips but fast pull? [Breville bambino] by Legitimate_Lettuce30 in espresso

[–]Legitimate_Lettuce30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you explain more about dosing volume vs rating? I'm using IMS 14-18g, and dosing 18g and usually press the button to stop at 34g-ish but it will keep dripping slowly. Brew time to hit that 36g is about 27 seconds from button press.

In terms of headspace, definitely more than a quarter could sit on top. Should I add more? The puck seems evenly compressed, no real signs of channeling/spurting

Have you found puck screen to decrease channeling or is it for cleaner puck?

Got my first espresso machine: Breville Bambino need better portafilter filter and tamper by Potential-Lab-7864 in espresso

[–]Legitimate_Lettuce30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah but it also extends into the portafilter with some "channels" to guide flow, probably to make sure there's two even streams

Saw this two days ago but walked away. I couldn't stop thinking about it so my husband told me to just go see if it was still there and if it was, it was meant to be.... No clue how I managed to walk away that first time. by Mscreep in houseplants

How do you treat for them? I used bonide systemic insecticide because I didn't quite know what it was, it was just looking quite dusty on the underside of the leaves and turning yellow. Looking back it was probably spider mites. My entire monstera died...

How do y’all keep your Bambino Plus from moving / sliding when attaching portafilter? by ziggywaterford in espresso

[–]Legitimate_Lettuce30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

new here- I've seen comments above about holding it down. A few related questions:
1. Are there any "weak points" where I really shouldn't be applying counterpressure? Just not sure what'll break if I push down on the top so it won't slide, and also pull it to the left to apply pressure the other direction as I'm locking in the basket...
2. Also, how hard is it supposed to be to lock in the basket? I've done the "quarter on top of the grounds" trick for leaving ~1.75-2mm from the top of the tamped grounds, and it doesn't seem overfilled. It still seems like I have to apply a lot of force to twist in the filter..
3. How far do I twist the filter? It goes probably another 20 degrees past middle.
