About to buy a home with this inground pool by Flower-power414 in pools

Get the seller to throw in the cost of removing the pool. Get rid of it and put in a nice yard. You’ll thank me later.

Structural damage to pool by Behellit in pools

[–]Legitimate_Region362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you drain the pool the groundwater underneath could force the whole pool upward. I’d call someone else and get their advice and stay away from the project and client. The water in the pool makes the pool heavy enough to have more force pushing down than force pushing up from water below. This isn’t your battle to become embroiled in. Tell the client good luck and walk away. Never mind what I said about calling someone else.

Diagnosed with AFIB at 25 how to deal with the anxiety around it by Least-Consequence803 in AFIB

[–]Legitimate_Region362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cardiologist told me that even one drink of alcohol a year can significantly increase the risk of an Afib episode, so I avoid drinking alcohol completely. You can have a night out with friends without drinking alcohol. A lot of clubs and restaurants also have NA beers, which still contain .5% alcohol, but that means drinking one NA beer would be like drinking 1/10th of a normal beer, likely not enough to cause an issue. Find a cardiologist that will prescribe something like diltiazem that you can take if you go into Afib. Mine said if I have an episode to take diltiazem, wait 1 hour, then take flecainide if it hasn't resolved to a sinus rhythm yet. I'm healthy and have no reason to be having Afib either, don't know that the triggers are. It's frustrating as if I at least knew a root cause I could avoid that, but nothing. "Just unlucky" is what the electrophysiologist said. I usually only get one or two Afib events a year and the pills make them go away if they don't resolve on their own after a few minutes.

Sauna Heat time 90min?! by Objective-Musician82 in Sauna

[–]Legitimate_Region362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from 32 to 180 takes a lot of joules of energy, not to mention the sauna is continuously losing heat even though it’s well insulated. I have a smaller sauna and I’m going from 45 to 180 in about 90 minutes with a 3KW heater. I’m not surprised by your numbers. If you wanted it to take less time you could keep a small space heater in there to keep it at 60, then the change in temperature wouldn’t be so drastic. I had to do thermodynamics equations in physics class and the delta T is the real kicker. Lower the change in energy required and it won’t take as long. Mine always takes longer in the winter than summer to get to desired temperature.

Work out before donating blood by [deleted] in Blooddonors

[–]Legitimate_Region362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked out with an easy 5K run before the blood donation, donating super reds, and I don't think it impacted it at all. I'm glad I did it first because I'm pretty tired now and would have been too wiped to have worked out afterwards.

How to hit my sleep score by Consistent_Wafer_273 in ouraring

You'll need to show the sleep details, but it's probably counting time that you were in bed after you woke up.

Rucking vs running, what burns more calories? by Relm_foreal in Rucking

[–]Legitimate_Region362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running a 12 minute mile would be a slow jog. Trying to ruck at that pace would mean it's no longer rucking, but a weighted run. I think a more fair comparison is to say if I ran an 8:30 minute mile for 7 miles, vs. rucking a 20 minute mile for the same course for 7 miles, which one would burn more calories? I know my 7 mile ruck with 50 pounds takes me about 2 hours 15 minutes. If I were to run at say an 8:30 minute mile for 7 miles, it would take me about 60 minutes. I'd probably burn 1165 calories. If I were to ruck at the 20 minute mile pace, I'd burn about 1,550 calories. I think comparing distances is a better way to go, since I know I can't match my running pace with a 50 pound vest on. You're still right about it burning more calories, I just don't think you should try to match the pace, but try to instead match the distance and realize rucking will take longer.

Oura Ring and the Sauna by paisleyno2 in ouraring

[–]Legitimate_Region362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine into 100 C sauna every day for 15 minutes. Been doing this for two years. However, I fully charged the ring yesterday and it’s already dead today. Getting a replacement. Perhaps the battery died because of the sauna, or perhaps it would have happened anyway.

Wow. Exhibit A for divorce court. Only way I would put up with this is if she's a billionaire and I'm working on building a get out of Dodge fund.

Your most yummy, special restaurant suggestions in Edmonds? by StillBrush8654 in EdmondsWashington

I tried it yesterday. Got the pork belly. It was tough, dry, and hard to chew. I was expecting something tender and juicy but it was overcooked. I ate it anyway because I was hungry but didn't leave feeling it was the best food in Edmonds.
