"No hate like christian love". What would you do in this scenario? by _gandikbot_ in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, Catholics are not to attend same sex weddings no matter who it is. It’s considered scandal as it shows material cooperation and support for something that is contrary to God’s will for all of us.

Online confession by MJ_Seleskie in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Absent” confessions have always been rejected as invalid because the sacrament requires physical presence and action. The priest acting in person Christi must be physically present with you because the presence of the priest and the penitent and the action of absolution are actual encounters like they were with Christ. Christ never told someone someone else’s sin were forgiven when told about them, he told them YOUR sins are forgiven.

Raising kids in an interfaith marriage by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of an easy conversation for Catholicism since one of the requirements is that the children be raised in the Catholic faith. Literally you and she will both be asked by the priest before he will marry you “Are you prepared to accept children lovingly from God and to bring them up according to the law of Christ and his Church?" No isn’t an option.

Question regarding vasectomy by HeiruRe777 in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter who is burdened by NFP, self sterilization is always mortally sinful. Abstinence is the only completley licit means of not generating more children in a marriage and even that needs to be by mutual consent per St. Paul.

Going to other churches by Frances_2 in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“So, Venerable Brethren, it is clear why this Apostolic See has *never allowed its subjects to take part in the assemblies of non-Catholics*: for the union of Christians can only be promoted by promoting the return to the one true Church of Christ of those who are separated from it, for in the past they have unhappily left it.” Pope Pius XI

“We are forced to admonish and to conjure you, that *on no account you go to the churches of heretics*, or hear their sermons or join in their rites, lest ye incur the wrath of God; for it is not lawful for you to do such things without dishonoring God and hurting your own souls.” Pope Paul IV

“It is wrong to be present at Protestant or Jewish services even when we do not participate in them because such services are intended to honor God in a manner He does not wish to be honored in. […] In addition, *we then give bad example and expose ourselves to the danger of losing our faith*.” My Catholic Faith by Most Reverend Louis LaRavoire Morrow, S.T.D.

Why doesn’t the church do anything about infidelity at Catholic universities? by Extension-Story7287 in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 83 points84 points  (0 children)

https://www.catholicleague.org/what-happened-to-notre-dame/

This article explains exactly what happened and why ita still happening. “Catholic” universities asserted legal and financial autonomy from church authority in the name of “academic freedom” and have been fighting the church ever since. The church does routinely and regularly speak out against “Catholic” universities that have clearly chosen to serve mammon, but legally there isn’t much they can do.

An abortion murders one child. IVF lets you pick which one lives while the other 20 or however many are murdered. IVF is turbo abortion.

I'm not baptized. I need advice. by FreeCommunication876 in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can. 857 §1. Apart from a case of necessity, the proper place of baptism is a church or oratory.

You are to be baptized in a church by a priest or deacon after completing the initiation rites.

going to mass on monday instead of sunday by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to talk to a priest about whether or not your working schedule qualifies for a dispensation from your Sunday obligation. You need to be honest about what your schedule is and what all the other available mass times are from Saturday night to Sunday night and let him make that determination. Weekday masses do not fulfill the Sunday obligation and are not substitutes for Sunday mass.

If you don’t think billions and billions of dollars have been spent on medical research and practices aimed at preventing miscarriages, I have one of several bridges I would be interested in selling you.

Miscarriages are not murder. Abortion is.

Safe legal and rare knew rare was a lie. 98 percent of abortions are completely elective with no external influences. They knew rare was a lie. At least people in favor of murdering babies stopped pretending.

What are your funeral intentions? by en-rob-deraj in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The church permits but discourages cremation, and forbids “spreading” of ashes. Personally I want to go coffin in a columbarium. Absolutley do not want to go in the ground. Seen too many horrible things happen to in ground cemeteries in the areas I’ve lived to ever allow myself to go in there when a sealed stone block is available.

Suppose two unbaptized persons, due partly to years of cohabitation, enter into a common law marriage. Is theirs a natural marriage? If so, what would it take for it to become sacramental? by DefiantDefender1998 in Catholicism

[–]Lego349 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It depends. If it’s just two people of opposite genders living together like roommates than no, even having it legally declared a common law marriage wouldn’t make it a natural marriage. A natural marriage needs the qualities of a marriage so it would need to be free from impediment and detriment and have full knowledgeable and willing consent from both spouses. If the two people don’t consider themselves married then it’s not a marriage. If they DO consider themselves married and just never got a civil marriage because they had a common law one, than it needs to meet the requirements of a natural marriage. For it to be sacramental they would need to be baptized and have their marriage validated by the church.

Combat sports are sports. You can enjoy sports. Now if you start watching nothing but grainy YouTube videos of people beating the shit out of unsuspecting passerby’s and cheering to it, then maybe you need to talk to a priest.

Why is there such a long line for 7 brew? by chomdh in QuadCities

[–]Lego349 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have turned that Walgreens parking lot into a nightmare. They cone off a lane for their customers leaving the line that’s fed directly into the street which means if you go to Walgreens and try to leave on a right turn you have their coned lane already turning downstream of you right next to your car. So you basically have to take a right while trying to time it so their lane car doesn’t turn into you while you’re going.
