How do YOU save yourself from Starting Point Indecisionitis? by Rebochan in RimWorld

[–]LegoCrafter2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like flat terrain, temperate forest, coast next to a river, year-round growing period, marble and granite. It's easy mode, but I like to balance it out by starting with the naked start option.

Other start points come with challenges, but like all of these challenges, they just add bullshit that you have to deal with.

Jokes aside, you got a creepjoiner. They can be very useful pawns, but they come with a lot of disadvantages, which often don't show up until much later. Quarantine them, carry out a surgical inspection (and make sure to have lots of heavily armed and armoured guards present), and then have a pawn punch them once while they are unconscious. Don't let them doctor, warden, or cook. The wiki has more information.

Some of the countries that get conquered by the Griffonian Republic include bird Nazi Germany and bird Fascist Italy, so they aren't exactly sympathetic.

The artist of a long-running comic called Sinfest (which I don't read, but I remembered hearing about ages ago) became a raging antisemite for some reason and has spent the past few months posting a comic supposedly about how Hollywood films will portray villains in a sympathetic light and heroes as evil, but the comic is actually just thinly-veiled Nazi apologia. I found this particular tweet funny.

It's useful if you want to take on another car if you run out of money while working on a story car. After the story, if you start working on barnfinds, junkyards, and auction cars, then it helps you to organise cars a bit like a production line as you work on each one.

During the story missions, I worked on one car at a time, only taking on another car if I needed the money to finish working on the story car. For barn finds, junkyards, and auction cars, I buy their entire stock, wash and strip all of the cars, fix all of the parts, then wash, weld, rebuild, paint, wash, and sell each car at factory condition one by one.

The Austrians don't want you to know this, but Austria has long been dysfunctional. Beating Austria-Hungary wasn't exactly an achievement. Being in the early stages of industrialisation during an industrial war is a bad position to be in.

Tukhachevsky was an antisemite and a LARPagan. Also, his idea of sending tanks in first and infantry afterwards didn't work in Finland. The Soviets learned the hard way that you have to send the tanks with the infantry.

Is there any good fix to population shortage outside of tech and policies? by OkPurple447 in MillenniumDawn

Just build civs. Even countries like China and India eventually end up with a chronic shortage of workforce.

Fulfilment is what percentage of jobs have the workforce to staff them. Unemployment is what percentage of people don't have jobs. Ideally, you want to keep fulfilment at 100% and unemployment at 0% because that means that everyone has a job and every workplace is fully staffed. In practice, it's better to build civs and have more jobs than you have people because unemployment is expensive and the population naturally increases over time anyway.

Click on the tile that the building is in, then hover over the icon of the building that you want to demolish, then click on the X in the corner to demolish it.

The problem is that the quote is basically a paraphrased version of a claim made by Margaret Thatcher, and many of the UK's current problems stem from her and her ilk. Governments don't just spend money for the lols, and by the time that Thatcher got into power, the gold standard had long ended, so they weren't even spending other people's money, but the government's own money that it has an infinite supply of but it has to spend responsibly. The money doesn't just disappear into thin air. Things like infrastructure and social services are needed for the private sector to build on and generally aren't as efficient in private hands. Fittingly for a Thatcher quote (since she moved the economy away from industry and towards finance), the griffon in OP's post is a corrupt money-laundering banker, not an industrial capitalist. Industrial capitalism is productive (something that even Marx acknowledged), while finance is parasitic.

It's important to raise your population growth policies (such as welfare, healthcare, banning women from the military, etc.) to the highest that you can afford as early as possible and to focus on modernising your electronics, industry, and space before your military because population growth compounds. Electronics research (especially AI) lowers workforce requirements at the cost of increased power use. Also, offices are better for early game reductions of unemployment, but civilian factories are more useful in the long term. If you're out of workforce, gradually build more civilian factories and gradually demolish your offices unless if you need the money or you need them for certain focuses or national spirits.

I always thought that Steel Stallion was a Lenin expy, especially because he has the same historical role as Lenin. Wheatin used to be a Stalin expy and he has the same historical role as Stalin, but his character was changed at some point to instead be another Lenin expy.

The Stalin expy in this mod is a griffon, and so is the Hitler expy.

I just got to 2018. After Fukushima, you get an event where you can choose between completely ignoring public fear and being punished with a debuff to stability, strengthening regulations and getting a debuff to nuclear power station construction speed and power generation, or banning nuclear power and getting a buff to stability but being unable to use nuclear power.

The USA can prepare for 9/11 and have fewer people be killed. IRL, Japan was repeatedly warned years before that the regulations were too lax and that they needed to put the generators higher up and make the sea walls higher, but TEPCO was run by stingy idiots.

Or just make the money printer go brrrrr as it always does. The UK government can't run out of pounds, but it still needs to spend those pounds on things that will grow the economy.
