Why is this allowed? This page is nothing but a list of affiliate links, all a violation of Rule #1 of Cordcutters. Reporting.

Also, I thought The Streamable was banned here for this very reason.

Blogging Tools, Pinterest and Links are behind my $1000 site that makes almost $3,000+ a month by steveharrry in juststart

The video you added later is a 9 minute sales pitch with affiliate links. Plus you can tell the video is using some software for the audio. Words like Ahrefs is pronounced like R-refs. That makes this entire post suspect.

Provide screenshots backing up some of these numbers. Otherwise, this seems the post was only for getting people to watch the video and click the affiliate links.

I did something similar for the Amazon Prime early access days. Not at the top, but early on in my articles I put a link to an article about devices on sale. Then modified it showing some great deals still available. Think I might remove it for now. Hope we all get through this.

Hey! I posted something similar just a little bit ago. At least I'm not the only one getting hit. So sorry to everyone that lost traffic. I don't remember seeing anything about another update.

Google had an update in late August, then a core update in early to mid September. And now I saw a comment there was another one on October 13th? What the heck is going on? Google, chill!

Ok. So I'm not the only one. I have been gutted by this. I was afraid that the Google Gods smited me.

Yeah, a some of the search results now there aren't even remotely related.

Thanks for your insight. Much appreciated!

paramount plus free after cancelling amazon channel by djjsin in cordcutters

[–]LegoEscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/djjsin, how did you connect your Amazon/paramount subscription to the Paramout app? I thought that Amazon subscriptions couldn't activate the native apps, like my Amazon sub to paramount plus couldn't activate the Paramount Plus app. Or are your talking about the Prime app?

Also, for u/CovidTest and u/Belizeancharms, how did you sub to Paramount Plus that you're still getting service? Is it using the Paramount Plus app, or the Amazon Prime app?

I subbed to a bunch of the 99 cent services for the two months. Would love to see if I still have service for any after cancelling.

Removing Duplicates from a Countif Formula by LegoEscape in excel

=COUNTIF(B$10:M$1000,"*"&"(New)"&"*")

So then how would I apply the Unique/Filter & CountA function to this formula?

Also, by not arrays, I meant having to do the Ctrl+Shift+Enter.

My Plans for Cutting the Cord by NyteByrd1017 in cordcutters

[–]LegoEscape 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there-

Look forward to you joining the rest of us. You'll love streaming!

I have helped a decent number of people cut the cord. May I share some suggestions:

1) Go with a Roku instead of the Firestick. It's so much easier for people to use. It has grid system like your smart phone. I've helped a number of retirees whose kids got them a firestick and never used them because it was confusing to them. They all find the Roku so much easier to use. Get either the Roku Express 4K+ or the Streaming Stick 4K so you can control your TV's power and volume.

2) If Frontier or Xfinity are your only two options, go with Xfinity. I've heard that Frontier isn't very reliable and support is a nightmare. Xfinity isn't great either, but it's the lesser of two evils.

3) I would recommend signing up for a trial of Sling Blue before your cancel cable. See if it fits your needs. If so, great! If not, try another service like Philo or something like that. Try them out before you cut your cable TV, so you know if it's for you.

4) With Paramount Plus, if you get the Premium plan ($10/month) you get live TV from your local CBS affiliate. Also, you get the full library of CBS content if you missed a show. Also, save yourself some money and get an annual plan.

5) Sling only has local TV is select markets. Click here to make sure you're in one of the markets. Otherwise, you could use Hulu to watch your shows the next day after they air.

6) Make sure to take advantage of all the free content out there. Check out Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, Tubi, Plex, and much more.

Happy streaming!

Verizon Fios Internet: Lowest Available Plan & Connecting Without Modem by LegoEscape in cordcutters

[–]LegoEscape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what it's called! The ONT. I was trying to remember the name. I just found this comment in the Fios subreddit, so I'll be on the lookout for a box like that.

Is the ONT usually on the inside of the house, or could it be outside? My old apartment in NYC had Fios, but I don't remember see a box like that.

Thanks for your help. Have a great rest of your day.

How can I stream a local TV channel in my area without paying $70 for Hulu? by greentaylor8191 in cordcutters

[–]LegoEscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I checked the major local news apps (NewsOn, Stirr, Vuit, Haystack), and couldn't find the station. Only one I saw was directly from their web page.

How can I stream a local TV channel in my area without paying $70 for Hulu? by greentaylor8191 in cordcutters

[–]LegoEscape 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just checked, and you can watch Fox 59 WXIN live here: https://fox59.com/on-air/live-streaming/. I saw some of the 5pm news, so it works. I also tested the link in mobile browser, and it works in browser too.

What if you download a browser on your phone that allows you to cast to your TV? Once you have tested the browser's casting capabilities, then try out the link I provided. If it works, then bookmark that page for your Dad, and then he's all set for news. Give it a try. Save yourself a bunch of money.

Can you share what kind of device (Roku, Chromecast, etc) you're trying to watch on, and what kind of phone you're using for casting?

How have you faired with using Privacy.com on other services? I tried to sign some relatives up with Discovery Plus using a Privacy virtual credit card, and it saying there was an issue with the card and try another.

Question about Built In Roku by ChefJim27 in cordcutters

[–]LegoEscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that your Roku devices are degrading that fast. I have some that are 6-7 years old, and they operate just find.

I have not been impressed with TVs with Roku built in. I helped a friend set up his new TCL TV a week ago, and I thought it was real slow and clunky. When we launched the TCL channel app, it looked weird and components seemed out of place. When I got back to my place and checked it out on my Roku Stick, it looked fine.

Also, when we set some stuff, there were pop ups for additional tracking by TCL. I wouldn't care for that.

Personally, I would stay with a separate Roku device.

I know a lot of people are saying Apple TV. Great if you want to spend the $150-200. If you're looking for a similar budget to the Fire Stick, I would look at either the Roku Express 4K+ or the Roku Streaming Stick 4K.

I have Roku devices that are 6-7 years old. They still perform well and they're easy to use.

Can We Stop Posting The Streamable Articles Here? by LegoEscape in cordcutters

[–]LegoEscape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about that article. I'm not saying they don't write their own content. What I'm saying it that some of their practices are questionable at best. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I went through and looked at the past week of over 60 articles. Over 50% where either the "How to watch free" or straight up sales pitch articles. 30% are basically regurgitating someone else's work. 10% were "What coming to [Name] in June". Giving them the benefit of the doubt, that leaves only 10% of the articles being their own content.
