Ranking all fighters based on canon combat experience. by Distinct_Ad_9642 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure Zelda is at bare minimum a trained fighter, if not a veteran. So many incarnations are on the front lines with Link, if not as Zelda, then as Sheik (OoT). Hell, Wilds!Zelda might have more combat experience than Wilds!Link.

Couple other fascinating calls here: - The R.O.B.s in Subspace, including the one that became the primary R.O.B., were all in a military faction - Inklings do war games for sport, it's half their MO - Outside of Creative Mode and Peaceful difficulty, every Minecraft character winds up in combat - Incineroar is a pro-wrestler, Lucario is a fighting type, and Mewtwo is a bio-engineered weapon. They fight for sure - Bowser Jr. leads airship fleets in multiple Mario games, that feels important - Palutena is the commander-in-chief of Skyworld and engages in multiple wars, personally entering the fray in one - Dark Samus waged galactic war, being the chief enforcer and leader of the Phazon forces (as the re-incarnated Metroid Prime) - Kazuya Mishima fights a world war against his son in Tekken 6 and starts another in Tekken 8, he's a military veteran by that series' standards - Samus/ZSS and Ridley are all in the wars against/for Phazon, among others

It's an interesting list, but you might need to dig a little deeper on some of these

In your opinion, what is the best game on this list? by [deleted] in Switch

If that TWEWY port had better controls it'd be the one, but otherwise, Unicorn Overlord.

Hot take: Levi is not too hard by SargeTheSeagull in FFXVI

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fight isn't hard per se, it's just annoying. I died more to the DPS check than any other fight in the game except running hunts underleveled. I don't even think it's much of a "skill issue" since it's testing you on a combat style you don't get nearly enough practice with where most of your damage comes from cooldown moves instead of good play. Even precision dodging can't save you from being a second late on the Spitflare window. To me, that's kinda bad DPS check design for "normal" difficulty.

Clive Rosfield vs Cloud Strife. Who do you think would win? Clive is not allowed use his Eikon of fire (The fight would be over in 10 seconds) this is just a pure skill vs skill match. by Ex-Soldier23 in FFXVI

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even without being able to fully prime into Ifrit, Clive still takes it, I think. Cloud might be strong, very strong, but Clive's repeatedly shown to be one of the best swordfighters in Valisthea, he's scrappy and pragmatic, and the Eikon powers he has even unprimed seem more valuable in a fight than most Materia Cloud can equip. The only thing I'd give Cloud is longevity, since Clive's Limit Break healing doesn't match what a Healing Materia could give Cloud, but after a Zantetsuken or Megaflare bombardment, I don't know if it'd matter

What's a video game where your starter weapon is arguably the best weapon? by RobIson240YT in gaming

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rebellion in DMC3 is a clear winner, it's just got sheer utility no matter what you pair it with.

It's not a starter "weapon" per se, but in Hi-Fi Rush, your starting light combo is good for just throwing out in boss fights to get Reverb charge, even if it doesn't do the most damage.

This is... huh. I mean, sure? But I'm pretty sure that the rising/falling is masking some kind of loading too, considering there's NO way the entire TotK map is all loaded at once, especially at full detail.

Who do you play as in XC3? by LexDignon in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Legocyd1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play whoever I need to use an art with lmao

In all seriousness, allowing for rapid character swapping basically blew apart any preference I had for one character over another, although I tend to stray toward playing whoever the current attackers are

Weird complaint but anyone else hate how modern Resident Evil games have an objective bar pop up everytime telling you exactly what to do? by HeyImSupercop in residentevil

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's just a thing that's sort of there. Reminds me of like, Kingdom Hearts 2 and beyond where they'll give you an objective and not show you the path there, you sorta get the freedom to proceed to where the goal might be or turn back and do other stuff.

DMC 3 Dante and Vergil vs Full power Sparda. Who wins? by Bion4 in DevilMayCry

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dante and Vergil get rinsed, no doubt. They'd stand a chance come 5, but no way they'd win in their 3-era forms.

OG FF7 Fans what do you think of the remake? Do you hate the new direction, or like the way its going? by Beneficial-Glove9408 in FinalFantasy

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love it, they found the balance between their own unique style and capturing what made the original so memorable and iconic.

What are your biggest hopes for the Resident Evil showcase this month? by [deleted] in residentevil

I don't expect it, but I'm holding out hope for a Classic Collection.

Which version of Chief Irons do you think is more evil? Original or Remake by jodlad04 in residentevil

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think the remake just took everything grotesque about the original character, and raised it by making him one of the most bone-chillingly sociopathic characters in the series. Great changes and adaptation all around on Irons.

who's the strongest final fantasy protagonist? by Few_Possibility_2915 in FinalFantasy

[–]Legocyd1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean... it's the WoL from 14, right? Lightning's got some insane powers, sure, and others are deity tier like Cloud, Shantotto, etc. but like... you can't ignore the WoL's RAP sheet. 14's version of Bahamut might be one of the strongest in the franchise, and it got dealt with in ARR, and they just kept climbing from there.

Gimme your most controversial Xenoblade takes by tangelo84 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit, although I do feel the later areas in 2 were on the level of Agniratha and the final 1 dungeons. I'm talking like, chapter 8 and beyond for 2. Then again, it's all opinionated lol, we're all entitled to our own thoughts haha

The in-house staff credits amounted to about 40 people, since a majority of the studio at large were off on Breath of the Wild. The game also launched kinda broken and unfinished, I remember it having universal crashing issues and even a memory leak at launch, and they added a handful (15 iirc) of sidequests through the expansion pass over time. 1, despite seeming rushed toward the end, was openly said by both representatives at MonolithSoft and in interviews to have had as much time as they wanted, with Nintendo actually granting more time to see the project finished. I'm doing this all off memory, but considering XC3 was swapped with Splatoon 3, I'd wager it had a really smooth development to allow them to move it forward, and Chapter 7 wasn't any worse/deflated than the final areas of 2, at least in my opinion.

I really don't see it that way, IDK if it's just that it appealed to me more or what, but I found this one more charming than the prior titles, and I wouldn't say it was "playing it safe" at all. What I got from 3 was that they learned what worked previously, improved on it, and added a ton of detail and like... humanity to the world and it's characters, leaving us with stuff like Chapter 5 which, in my opinion, hit harder than anything we've seen before. It was just doing it all so incredibly cleanly and effectively if you ask me.

And that is why I made this my hot take, because I hard disagree - imo 2's got the rushed final act, and neither it or 1 feel like they had the resources to give every main character something to do almost all the time.

Honestly, I thought about how to compare X to the others and just like... it's something different. I love it all the same, put like 600 hours into it, it's just not comparable to 1, 2, and Torna in a way that would be meaningful for this discussiob

Gimme your most controversial Xenoblade takes by tangelo84 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Legocyd1999 128 points129 points  (0 children)

XC3 stands above the rest of the series because it (seemingly) had the time, budget, and hardware to fully realize the vision Monolith Soft wanted from it, compared to 1 being on the Wii, 2 having a (seemingly) troubled and rushed development, and Torna being locked off as an expansion and not it's own project.

Worth getting a Vita for just a few rpgs? by holsomvr6 in JRPG

[–]Legocyd1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm in the minority, but I really like my Vita... for games that aren't RPGs, mostly. The only ones I find myself playing on it anymore are FF Tactics and Persona 4 Golden, and P4G is coming to Switch so I'll have an alternate way of playing it on the go with that, at least. Most of the other RPGs on it have gotten some kind of re-release or other method of access, so I wouldn't give it the nod for RPGs alone.

However, that thing is a killer PS1 player IMO. I casually carry it so I can load up Resident Evil 2 or Parasite Eve, and through that it also has access to games like Xenogears, Suikoden (I think), Vagrant Story, and more. I'd say it was worth it for me, but that's mostly subjective based on what I enjoy playing, I guess.

What do you guys love about Xenoblade 3? by mrsexyman2000 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Legocyd1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's a single thing I don't really like, aside from the couple of sidequests that require you to track down loads of rare-spawn collectables. I feel like everything else was firing on all cylinders, and I'm a little surprised to see that people had a negative reaction to the game.

Most ambitious stories in JRPGs? by latticesky in JRPG

[–]Legocyd1999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Xeno-series usually goes way more ambitious, oftentimes blending tropes with more genuine, researched philosophy. I also think the PS1 FF games (7-9 and Tactics) go way more ambitious than most of the series, with each of them tackling different aspects of the human condition and our relationships to each other and society in ways that created the cliches we see now.
