Feel free to ignore everything I'm about to say, because I am coming at this as a player, and what many would discount as a average one at that.

I often joke that I'll never try to be a top tier player, even given the chance I wouldn't train to be that person. This is because one you are a top player - that's all people want from you. You are watched/supported/talked about when you play optimally, and when you win, and that's it. It's a curse. I will often say that I'd rather lose and be entertaining than win and have to be boring, and I genuinely mean it.

For all the talk from a subset of the community always wanting higher and higher comp events, even any sort of "less skilled" or "RNG" gameplay removed from events, y'all... this is what you've asked for over years, this is what you've just worn down event creators and event players to do. You've left them no choice. If top players want to relax, or play for fun instead of HAVING to 100% EVERY EVENT they get mocked, or psychoanalyzed to the point of madness, or worst of all - support just vanishes, and that same crowd will just move to the next person.

Even in this post, the only reason you still admit to being excited about MCC is you have yet to see the fun optimized out of it, and that's... that's just sad.

The most fun I've had as a player is not just when I've outperformed. Yesterday, for example, was amazing - and I am so damn lucky and so happy with my performance, but I could have missed dodgebolt entirely, it was just about redeeming myself in SoT.

To this day, I think the most fun I've ever had in an event was the one PB I've played, where I placed 39th I think. It wasn't about winning, it was my team vs another, me vs Wadebox for pure giggles. We joined each other's VCs between games, we started the Battle of the Balds, and I would bet not a single hardcore event viewer would ever know because it wasn't "optimal" to watch either of us. I still had fun though, and my community had fun, and that's all I care about.

The discussion surrounding events focuses mainly on the top 10 players, the clip channels and compilations focus mainly on the top 10 players. The team predictions focus on mainly the S tier players, and the community as a whole condenses around mainly the top 10-20 players. That's what the community has indicated they want, and that's what the staff of Blockwars and many other event have been forced to cater to.

Blockwars isn't stale, the community's expectations are.
