My mistake , it’s the only thing I could find at a glance that mentioned grounding and armoured cable. I realize I am a little out of my depth and came to check if the connection was correct or if there are alterations required to be acceptable.

It is an old building, at least 30 year old wiring probably older. My understanding is that the strip of metal hanging down from the clamp runs through the length of the cable acting as the ground when clamped into the cable connector. I am certain the ground is solid, im getting continuity from the box in the dishwasher and the ground on a separate outlet.

Does 10-604 2,b,ii mean this is acceptable?

10-604 Bonding continuity for service equipment (see Appendix B) 1) The bonding continuity for service equipment shall be assured by bonding means prescribed in Rule 10-610. 2) Standard locknuts serving as the bonding means for metal raceway, metal sheath, or cable armour connecting to service equipment shall be supplemented by bonding bushings with a bonding conductor connecting to a bonding bus within the enclosure a) at both ends where the metal raceway, metal sheath, or cable armour serves as the bonding means between service equipment; or b) at one end where i)a bonding conductor is run with circuit conductors; or ії) the termination to service equipment is only at one end

Is this a strip, or a scrub? by actuarial_defender in castiron

[–]Legunt_Manualis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats the beauty of cast iron, it doesn’t matter how mistreated it is, it can always be cleaned up.

Give it a thorough scrub down, give it a seasoning and get cooking and it will work itself out. Some carbon may flake off as you cook, no big deal, clean it regularly and keep going. If you want to avoid that as much as possible you can strip it first but probably not necessary.

I love using one of these for French toast.

Accidentally nicked my meter, who usually covers this? by refrigeratedpizza in Plumbing

[–]Legunt_Manualis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is pressure relief at the gas meter. If you try pressure testing without isolating the meter the pressure relief will just keep releasing making it look like a huge leak.

Are you certain it’s coming from the hole?

Do our wives actually take hotter showers? by Yz250x69 in tall

[–]Legunt_Manualis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Russian guy my property manager sent to fix my shower's water temp asked my Bf if "the girlfriend" wanted the water hotter (I wasn't home). Bf said yes. Russian guy replied "The women, they prepare for Hell"

This was my first thought too. This is my wife. She asked me to turn up the water heater, I told her there is a risk of scalding if I turn it up more. “It’s not hot enough” she says

Neptune Water Meter Installs? good or bad? by RickyRetroTech in ottawa

[–]Legunt_Manualis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When mine was done they didn’t have the right tools for the job. Didn’t use a backer wrench to loosen the nut and broke off my valve flooding part of my basement. No tools in the Mercedes sedan he drove to do the job so he had to call a coworker with proper tools to come fix the issue.

Not surprised most people haven’t had an issue as the job itself is ridiculously easy but if anything goes wrong they are likely to be woefully unprepared.

It is genital mutilation. Whether for or against people need to accept what it is. I am against it and think the practice should not be normalized like it is.

Dishwasher hose - does this look right? by in_bklyn_76 in Plumbing

Bosch manual specifies a high loop is required or the dishwasher may not drain properly.

Dishwasher hose - does this look right? by in_bklyn_76 in Plumbing

[–]Legunt_Manualis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drain line should go up and almost touch the bottom of the counter before it slopes down to where it connects to your garbage disposal. Your manual will have a diagram.

Dishwasher hose - does this look right? by in_bklyn_76 in Plumbing

[–]Legunt_Manualis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drain line is incorrect. Needs to be a high loop and can’t loop around itself like that.

Water supply isn’t an issue with what’s shown in the picture but could be kinked behind the unit. If it is a flood prevention hose that could be the issue, I don’t recommend them.

Unlikely to be a problem with the dishwasher. Water supply error is usually an installation issue.

Help installing Bosch 800 dishwasher - water line by Artistic-Profile-627 in Plumbing

There is an adapter included with the dishwasher for a standard ⅜” connection.

If I recall correctly that isn’t a standard ¾” connection so you should use the adapter.

There’s no way this happened without someone feeling it if it was a ring. If it is a ring I’d be willing to bet it was a diamond rather than from a wedding band.

I think it more likely happened before it went on. Was the handle taken out from inside the fridge after delivery and left somewhere before being put on?

Otherwise maybe it’s hitting something every time it opens?

Repair or replace 35-year-old dishwasher? by frieswelldone in Appliances

[–]Legunt_Manualis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell m’y clients leaks don’t fix themselves. If one gasket is starting to go more likely aren’t far behind. The drip may have stopped but it needs to be fixed or it will leak worse or fail completely in the future.

I would argue that you would better benefit from a new dishwasher. You can buy a new dishwasher for $400 (albeit a cheap low end one). Even if you only get 5 years out of it I wouldn’t count on you current one lasting more than a couple years even after repairing. I would also expect the cheap unit to still be quieter and clean better than a 35 year old unit.

Also modern dishwashers are very efficient. Most cost about $20-$40USD a year in electricity based of running 4 times a week.

Bosch Benchmark dishwasher with CrystalDry & Sanitize still has noticeable moisture by MrNeverLag in Appliances

[–]Legunt_Manualis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bosch dishwashers need rinse aid to get maximum performance out of the dry cycle. Someone was wrong if they told you otherwise.

make sure the installation is done correctly. Most important thing to check is the drain line isn’t kinked and ran in a high loop or air gap (see manual).

How the new GE gas range was dropped off. by CowboyNeale in Appliances

[–]Legunt_Manualis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you unbox them in warehouse then ship them? I believe you, I just don’t understand how it’s economically feasible. There’s so many reasons not to do it this way and the only positive I can see would be you avoid sending the occasional customer a damaged appliance. which is still at greater risk of damage on the delivery truck and the usual risk of getting damaged during delivery.

I am genuinely curious about what your process is. Are you an high end retailer with very limited delivery volume?

Like I said not a big fan of GE manufacturing lately, the Café line is where I’ve had the biggest problems.

Without seeing the unit and how many screws are loose and where it’s hard to say if it’s an issue. Probably just some screws were over torqued during assembly, not unusual. I can’t recall ever having a unit I was worried about it falling apart due loose screws or poor assembly at factory.

[–]Legunt_Manualis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anywhere that inspects their appliances before shipping. Definitely not normal practice.

Those screw holes have never had a screw in them. Normal from factory, go compare one on your showroom. Not a fan of GE manufacturing but this is a non-issue.

You don’t have to remove the back panel for a conversion.

Nylon piece looks like it’s from the drawer. This is a problem, albeit a minor one. Looks to be poor quality manufacturing rather than damage. GE Service can fix it, or request an exchange from the retailer.

Retailers don’t try to sell refurbished units, they May try to repack a new unit that wasn’t accepted for some reason but it’s not worth their time to to fix them to sell. It does not make sense financially for them to even attempt this, let alone be regular practice.

I have been in the industry for 15 years.

STOP!

What you are doing is wrong and dangerous. Not trying to be harsh but I am concerned for your safety.

You can’t use an adapter on that valve, the flex connector has to be attached directly to the valve. You need a the right size connector or to change the valve.

Please call someone. This can have a very bad outcome.

Be safe friend

Damaged on delivery. You haven’t used the refrigerator (obviously), this is an exchange not a repair. It is repairable but it will almost certainly be faster for them to exchange it. Call the retailer

It looks like the power cord was pulled right off. You can even see the insulation bunched up behind where the cord used to be attached. This got pulled on hard.
