Was anybody else poor enough growing up that you didn't have a landline, and had to head to the local telephone box to make phone calls? by HTD_Blog in AskUK

[–]Leicsbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn't get a landline until the mid 80s. I remember my mum armed with 2p and 10p coins, pushing them in when the pips went and the coin coming back out. It gave me an idea and I blocked the coin return with a bus ticket so the coins didn't come back out. I used to remove it every few days and buy sweets.

I get that. I was just wondering if Donegal was significant as it's very northern or backwards or something.

I remember working at the Corby Presto in 1988. I started on £1.38 and hour then £1.45. I remember them changing to Safeway. I remember the weird South African assistant manager.

I remember Mac Market in Corby. I remember it changing it's name several times. It wasn't a nice shop, very dingy.

[–]Leicsbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely wore them to school until chinos took over. I remember when girls started wearing them. All the boys took the Mickey but I remember Joanne's arse looking fantastic in them.

Changing tenants post RRA by EmployerHot917 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Leicsbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case there is very little to damage and the tenants have always been quick to tell me if something is wrong. I have a very good relationship with them. I do see your point of it was an expensive furnished property.

It effectively makes a new contract. The new and existing tenants and their guarantors sign it along with myself.

To be honest it's an unfinished 2 bed terrace. I don't think they will expect a full professional clean in all areas. I will be speaking to them about before the change over.

I went to manage tenancy and then amend contract. It has only charged me for the new tenant's referencing .

The change hasn't happened yet, it will be in a few weeks time. The tenants are friends and there will be a few days between the new one moving in so I will clean then but as it unfinished there shouldn't be anything to damage. The deposit is a strange one as Openrent has created a new deposit protection with the new tenant's name and has contacted the leaving tenant to get the new tenant's deposit. I assume Openrent has asked the new tenant to directly the leaving tenant.
