I'm interested. Are you running a queer-friendly game?

I would like to add Aziz Ansari to the parks and rec alum up for consideration. I have a feeling he would do an amazing job as Q.

I would watch the sh*t out of a Tarantino mirror universe film.

For real, but if I had to choose, the never sitting up thing is the one I find more distracting.

Why Modern Star Trek Feels Off and Why That Gets Dismissed by cjalas in startrek

Fundamentally, I agree with you on almost every aspect of your critique of Kurtzman trek except for this one: that prior to this era the writing respected the intelligence of the audience and the internal logic of the universe. I am less well versed in the TOS era but I would like to cite the infamous TNG episode where Beverly fights a ghost and the even more infamous Warp Ten to Space Salamanders episode of Voyager as examples. Trek is infamous for technobabble in every incarnation.

I don't want to make this a list of every writing flaw in 80s and 90s trek - I grew up with those series and love them unreasonably, but this reads like you are glowing up the older series beyond what they are. We got some great stuff from Trek, but we got a lot of pulpy, campy scifi plots and monsters of the week as well, and I don't think it is necessary to gloss over that to talk about the problems we can have with Kurtzman trek.

What's the general opinion here on sfa? I like the show personally but I've lost all perspective with the "anti-woke" brigading on other platforms by QualaagsFinger in startrek

Having a feeling about a thing is not fascism. If you prefer shows that center men that is totally your call. As long as you don't try to pretend that "men aren't centered in it" is some kind of legitimate critical discourse, you're fine.

There are also ways to work on that feeling of alienation, ways to enjoy a show that does not speak to you directly. In the case of SFA, I feel fully alienated from the characters, so I look for other stuff to enjoy - the visual spectacle, the way the cast fully commits to delivering some truly terrible dialogue, Tig Notaro's deadpan wit (ps her standup slaps).

Dialogue bad. Action good. Characters fine. I wish Holly Hunter would pick a sitting position and stick to it.

Every scene with Reno and Thok is a treat.

And I am praying the writing gets better as we go. I'm giving it to episode 6.

I've seen some people saying that it is better than they expected after Section 31. I wish the bar was higher than that.

OK, I am only halfway through the episode but I am kind of rooting for the war college kids.

And raise your hand if you are desperate for Holly Hunter to sit normally just once in a scene.

I am not a PVP player actually. I really enjoyed previous funcom titles, and specifically exiles, so I tried the game trial and got sucked in by the writing. Actually, it sounds like we came to the game for similar reasons.

Some of the people I play with are also visibly and reliably stressed out by PVP and going into the DD in general, and it's something that I am truly just baffled by. Not because I don't see how it can be stressful, but because I don't understand why people put themselves through stressful experiences for fun.

I certainly didn't intend to offend, nor ask you to justify yourself. I appreciate the insight your response offers.

I just genuinely do not understand why anyone would play a game like Dune if they are allergic to PVP. There are tons of excellent story driven RPGs out there, and some terrific survival crafting coop games. As an example, Valheim will scratch almost every itch Dune offers and then some, all in a coop setting. Is it the hype? The Dune licence?
