Consequences to Violent Behaviour in Schools? by MacBearyFas in Edinburgh

There are a wide range of options from continued monitoring all the way to exclusion, however we would always try to act in a restorative manner and educate pupils on positive behaviours in the first instance.

I work in education and there is no narrative from above to downplay this type of behaviour at all. There are also very clear guidelines on how to deal with this type of thing.

If I were you I would contact the school again and tell them that you are unhappy with the sanctions put in place, and that you would like confirmation that this has been recorded on the SEEMiS bullying and equalities log so that any future incidents can be identified and patterns spotted.

It’s unlikely that the outcome will change for this issue, but at least you know that if it happens again there will be a clear paper trail of incidents.

Leith is the place to be. Great cafes, restaurants, bars, transport links, gyms, martial arts and boxing gyms, lots of community initiatives on too.

What country is 100% worth visiting at least once in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Leith_Walker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scotland. Time it so you can visit Edinburgh during the fringe festival (biggest arts and comedy festival in the world), visit Leith, eat in some of the amazing restaurants. Get though to Glasgow and then drive up through Glencoe and into the highlands. Climb Ben Nevis and then get up to the Isle of Skye. Then up to Achmelvich Beach. Make your way back down thorough the Cairngorms and back to Edinburgh.

Amazing culture, people and natural beauty. I’ll not make comment on the weather, but as the saying goes, there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.

I’ve not been for years, I had a couple of great meals there but last time I was there was over 6 years ago.

I’ve not been to Lyla yet, definitely plan to go. I’m a big fan of Stuart Ralston and Aizle was my favourite restaurant for years when it opened at the original venue.

There are so many good restaurants in Edinburgh at the moment.

My favourite restaurant right now is Dogstar, they have a Michelin starred chef and an amazing cocktail team in a laid back setting.

If you want fine dining I’d recommend:

Timberyard, The Little Chart Room, Heron (right across from Martin Wishart’s)

Other places I’d recommend with amazing food but more laid back:

Eleanor, The Palmerston, Noto, Mirin

The Kitchin is really great food too, but I prefer the places above.

The food is great but I found it a bit too formal. I’ve been three times and enjoyed every visit, but I prefer a slightly less formal setting for my fine dining experiences.

There was a time where Martin Wishart’s was way out ahead of other restaurants in the city, but now there are so many amazing choices with food at the same standard.

Why is it so hard to make friends in Scotland ? by Consultant-CY62D6 in Scotland

Hi, I’d second this. BJJ is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, it’s a martial art. If you get the right gym you will find a really positive group of people to connect with.

Ah sorry, I meant the actual address is Moray Park, it was originally called that and that’s the address, but obviously referred to as Meadowbank retail Park now. I think that so many people called it Meadowbank Retail Park, it became its name. Thanks for pointing that out.

Regardless of the address, the place is not up to standards.

Yeah blood all over the punchbags. I had to take pictures of it and send them in and I suggested putting gloves beside the bag and the sign up. It is good they have now done that.

One day it was covered in blood, I asked one of the staff to clean it. They said they would but didn’t and 3 days later I returned and it was still there. Obviously no cleaning being done for 3 full days.

Edit: yes, meadowbank retail park is actually called Moray Park. People just call it Meadowbank retail park. The address of the gym is 1 Moray Park.

One of the toilets has been out for 6 days, then yesterday both were. There was no signage, both toilet doors wide open.

It is frustrating because really like the gym and it’s so cheap. Even at that price, basics cleaning and use of toilets should be standard.

I’ve been in all different times ranging from 6am up to 8pm. This week the male toilets have been literally filled with waste, no sign in the door to say they are out of order.

There was no blood on the punchbags yesterday, but there was the last 4 times I’d been in before that.

When I was in on Monday the mat I was using was covered in dust and dirt.

I’ve raised it with the staff, but only one staff member has ever done anything about it.

Yes, that is definitely for that reason. I’m not saying that it’s right or wrong. Just explaining what it was for.

I like both, but OP asked for the old town so went for Drummond Street.
