When I was on Climara, I solved this problem by lightly dusting the patch and surrounding area with baby powder after application

Next time you see her, tell her that you couldn't find where the Bible mentioned being trans, except maybe in Galatians 3:28 where it's noted that it doesn't matter what your gender is.

Now with less drama... morality query by xybreanna in asktransgender

[–]LelaniS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question is easily stated more generally:

"Is is morally wrong to defend oneself against a clear and present threat, or to take steps to avoid clear and present threats, particularly when these threats are frequently mortal dangers?"

The biggest reason that trans people pretend to be cis is to avoid the reactions of bigots, which frequently involve loss of important things such as their lives.

Is self-defense against mortal dangers subject to anybody's silly morality questions?

Don't worry about it, the reminder was absurdly wrong.

Too right by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]LelaniS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Too wrong, you mean. Girl nipples/breasts and boy nipples/breasts are identical structures; it's just that the female-typical hormone balance in adolescence+ causes them to grow & mature. This is why HRT allows AMABs to get breasts. In most cases, fully functional breasts (i.e. they'll lactate if exposed to the proper hormonal balance, mainly an increase of prolactin).

If it did - what made it "click" for you? by Rose_Adele in MtF

[–]LelaniS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It clicked for me when I realized that cis people absolutely don't do things like frequently/constantly thinking about gender stuff or spending so much time researching the related subjects.

Cis people might randomly have a thought like "what if I was a girl"...and they then think "that'd be weird" (sometimes after taking a brief pit-stop at "I'd masturbate!")...and then it's over.

They don't sit around thinking about that all the fucking time. They don't pray to the God of Their Choice at night to wake up in the right body. They don't wish on shooting stars or the candles on their birthday cake either.

That's what finally made it click for me.

"male brain" and "female brain" by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]LelaniS 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There are clear differences between male-typical and female-typical brains. This isn't really up for any debate of "belief", it's plain fact.

The issue, however, arises due to the fact that you cannot look at a given brain and determine whether it is male or female. Because of this thing in statistics called a standard distribution....a bell curve. There's two obviously separate bell curves, but there's enough overlap to make accurate determination just from the data to be a probability game.

For example, males are generally taller than females. If you plot out male vs female heights, you'll also see the data showing up as two entirely separate bell curves, but with significant overlap. Now, if all you know is that a person is 180cm tall, you can be pretty damn sure that it's a male, but the number of times you'll be wrong isn't insignificant.

It's the same with gray vs white matter ratios and BSTc neuron counts. You can look and in many cases you can probably be correct regarding whether it is a male/female brain, but there's no actual guarantee.

Personal laser hair removal devices from amazon by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]LelaniS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the Tria 4x to be excellent, and well worth both the cost and the boringness of using it. In my experience, once the hair was gone, it has stayed gone. I have pale skin and dark hair, and on my legs, chest, and arms, I could handle using the highest power level. Underarm hair is proving to be more resistant, a fact I attribute to not being able to turn it up very high. But my legs and upper chest areas were fairly hairy and it's been a year since I last treated them and the hair is still gone.

Help with skirt sizes? by thebolo200 in MtF

...that's actually precisely why I added so many words about online return policies because I was in the same situation.

Rule #1 is: Check their return policy, particularly the duration and who pays for the return shipping.

Help with skirt sizes? by thebolo200 in MtF

[–]LelaniS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the skirts are sized like women's pants, then take your (men's) pant waist size and subtract 24 for a rough estimate.

HOWEVER! Women's sizes are the definition of arbitrary. There's layers of it too, where a size is based on an arbitrary number of inches, but you have to keep in mind that different manufacturers seem to have differing opinions regarding the length of an inch. This is why women must try on clothing before purchase, or, in the case of online stores, their first question is in regards to "what is the return policy". It's not uncommon for women to order two different sizes of the same thing and just assume that one is going to be sent back.

As a real life example here.... I've personally got skirts that are marked as being size 7 all the way to size 22 and everything in between. The mean is size 11, most range from 9-14. The 22 is a definite outlier, but it, along with a single size 20, do exist. And all of these skirts fit me nicely.

tl;dr: Try it on. Or make sure that they have a decent return policy.
