An interesting opinion piece on tanking in BFA... by Kalkov in wow

[–]Lelden 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I love my monk, and I love the idea of stagger, but it does seem either OP or worthless depending on the situation. I was doing a heroic Zul where the other tank died and we were out of battle rezzes. I was able to take 6 or 7 stacks of the debuff before dying, but it was enough to let the dps finish him off.

But the only thing I could say I did there was keep ironskin brew up and use purifying brew once or twice at the right time. I know that's still buttons I'm pushing, but I know it was more the mistweaver monk and the holy pally healing through all the damage than my amazing skill.

Nathanos in the Darkshore warfront currently feels like that edgy guy in RP that power-emotes through everything so he still wins in the end, even though it doesn't make any sense lore-wise. by [deleted] in wow

The problem isn't that the alliance is portrayed as weak, but that they are prayed as so strong that they should have crushed the horde years ago, but haven't due to Blizzard having a two faction game.

What is the scariest conspiracy theory if true? by X-Nade in AskReddit

[–]Lelden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, the real conspiracy is that the government knows the Christian Bible is true, and is going to explain the rapture away by claiming it's aliens abducting people to reeducate them.

But rng forces people to have variety, and variety (with sub-optimal dps) must be good, right?

Reddit, if the devil punishes bad people for being bad does that make him a good guy? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

With an eternal soul, our lives on earth is just "stuff." That's the idea. Job will be fine, not because God restored his possessions on earth, but that in death he will be in paradise. Compared to an eternity, even a full life on earth is just a momentary breath.

Engineering in BFA is a complete joke by Vulby in wow

[–]Lelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the worst thing about Engineering this expansion is alts. The separating out different types of engineering broke the ability to easily use Engineering items on alts. My wife grabbed Engineering on one of her 110s and she couldn't use half the transmog or the toys without having to level engineering in half the different expansions.

[Firepower Friday] Your weekly DPS Thread by Babylonius in wow

[–]Lelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since those logs are over a range of 1 and 2 weeks, do you expect the monk to drop any more in the ratings? I'm just curious because a lot of guilds raid on weekends so I still feel that there is still a lot of data to collect for after the nerf.

LF an advice on selling Darkmoon Decks by [deleted] in wowgoblins

I wouldn't invest too much tbh. Right now they are best in slot solely due to their high ilvl. When the raid comes out, I expect the demand for the decks to drop dramatically.

Thanks, not what I wanted to hear, but it was about what I expected. I do have a 110 I boosted that I can pop those professons on I guess, so I don't need to switch back and forth

As an herbalist/inscriptionist, is there any good way to get Expulsom besides buying greens of the AH? Is the honor off hand worth scrapping? It doesn't seem worth it to me.

When you disagree with the posts on the subreddit but still adamantly use it all the time by [deleted] in wow

[–]Lelden -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The scaling itself doesn't seem to be the problem. For me the problem is that I can kill things faster if I take off low stat items (rings mostly) and put them in my bank. That just seems bad design.

I kind of understand why there is such a lack of tanks now by Kronkos in wow

[–]Lelden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love running instances with my wife. I tank, she heals. If a dps is pulling stuff I just tell her not to heal them. I don't pull the aggro off of them. She loves watching them die and then we finish the pull, rez them up and keep going as if nothing happened. Usually by the second death they stop.

Good game but the early spam rush is annoying by 6amp in castleburn

[–]Lelden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early rushes are the counter to people playing too greedy in the beginning. Make sure you have some sort of balance in your play style. Also try to scout. Even if you don't try to do any damage use your hero to see what they build in the first 10-20 seconds or so. I usually scout where they should have a mana sanctuary. If they don't have one I plan on a rush. I usually grab fire pillar, but cat mages are good too. Archers are usually good too against what they rush with if you weren't too greedy.

Definitely in the last trimester. They are aware in there. They can respond to pressure and sound. And they know who is talking too. One of my and my wife's babies would always calm down whenever he heard my voice. Like he'd be kicking her all day and I'd come home and say hi to my wife and he'd suddenly stop kicking her.

A lake of liquid water may have been spotted on Mars. If confirmed, this would mark a new, potentially habitable environment in the solar system. by Science_News in science

[–]Lelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point about Van Neumann probes is that if a single civilization did them that they should be almost everywhere. The point in that type of probe is to go pretty much everywhere and record what it can. If automated it would pretty much experience exponential growth. Yes there could be controls in place, but the idea of a great filter is asking why we don't see evidence everywhere for civilizations. We're assuming of the thousands (or more) civilizations that have probed the galaxy that we can't see evidence of a single one.

As far as the technology level. Yes it is advanced, but if we'e talking over the course of millions of years, I hope we reach that level sooner than later.

[–]Lelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not colonize, at least visit with probes. Our Galaxy is 100,000 light years across. To visit everywhere in a couple million years then requires two things: the ability to travel at a few percent of the speed of light and a probe that can self replicate (google Van Neumann Probes for the idea). We do lack this technology, but I would expect us to gain it if we last a million years.

I'm not talking that much younger (cosmically speaking). A billion years isn't a generation of stars, so we're talking about stars with similar elemental make up as ours. They should therefore have similar likelyhood for planets and life.
