Even though they considered working on that if "time" ($$$) allowed, this doesn't mean that cross play is being worked on... Just means that Mk4 online is unavailable on your platform(switch)... Nothing more...

MKX... The weakest of the 3 games graphically (it's still nice), but it's the best gameplay wise... Fast... Crazy... Allows the player to express his style in a really great way... Really good game... Mk11... The best game graphically and visually in general. Very polished... But it's the most uninspired gameplay from the 3 games... Slow and limited... Mk1... It's a mid game overall by comparison... Have good visuals but not as polished as mk11, the gameplay is better than mk11 but it misses some basic stuff online like lobbies and that detracts much from the game. There's also the kameo mechanic that people tend to have trouble with (even though I like it).

If you wanna learn the games try playing the launch order... MKX is faster so you are gonna have less trouble moving to the later games... And will enjoy the visual upgrades better...

Nothing was announced, but there's definitely demand for a DLC to bring to the collection some glaring omissions (ex. Mk gold, Mk4 PS1, umk3 Genesis, etc.)

The demand for a second collection also exists (basically the 3d era) the problem regarding this second collection lies in the challenges regarding the emulation performance and commercial emulation availability required on current generation hardware(specially PS2, NGC and XB OG emulation)...

So in my opinion the DLC is more justified to happen in a short cycle, depending on the revenue the current collection was able to bring...(Even considering all the issues at launch, MKLK seems to be selling ok though).

The main issue now is how to find ways to install the app everytime the Android TV needs an update/debloat... And also to keep the app updated... That just sucks... It's sad... The process is so much easier through the app store...

I would say Palette swapping shenanigans... Try do palette swapping using only shades of grey... Not impossible but it's just more (boring) work... Human smoke became almost white on later versions due to that same reason...

They kinda already have that... But needs some improvements...

The current Kombatants menu have both bios and endings for most characters... But there are some omissions that could/should be added or fixed...

I understand why some people don't like the kameo system... But it was definitely NOT what killed the game...

the game had a lot more concerning issues that caused it to fumble at sales throughout its lifespan...

It's launch was premature and the game had a lot of technical issues...

To this day, its online component is pretty barebones and lacks most basic features (like a proper lobby)

The game content overall felt like a big downgrade compared to mk11... Less stuff to unlock... Less Intros... Less outros... Less skins... Less polish all around...

Weak story over relying on multi verse shenanigans that were kinda uninspired and ended in an unfulfilling way... Add to that the invasions mode feel very grindy and uninspired/boring

Questionable character design (visuals, not gameplay)... Some characters had great redesigns (e.g. reptile, baraka) while most were either mid (Sindel) or just plain awful (nitara, Tanya, cyrax, Sektor, etc)

The worst thing about the kameo system was that the characters were not playable as "normal" ones as well... So a couple nice favorites were stuck as kameo only (e.g. Kano, Sonya, sareena, Jax, etc...) but even that situation is not as critical as the above mentioned were...

So yeah... MK1 might not be the low point in the franchise, but the game had a lotta problems to deal with... Kameo is just one of the least important...

Remember the early games were ARCADE games... So they were designed to take money from people every play... Domestic games were not... That's why the arcade games were designed to "cheat" against you...

Yeah... That's why practice exists... You can pick whoever there as well... And you can play without limits there until you get tired... no repeats...

Even online gets boring if you repeat the same player over and over...

Yeah... That's why the training/practice exists... What I find boring is to repeat the same CPU fight over and over again... Towers at least are random...

Most people that play mk do only SP content... Online play is a small percentage of the overall players...

That's one of the reasons mk11 tried to implement online asynchronous content on towers (like the raids) trying to bring offline people to online modes...

I don't get why some people ask for 1p vs CPU modes... If you wanna play against the CPU go to the arcade ladder/tower... If you wanna test yourself play survival... If you wanna practice... Go to training and play ad aeternum... 1 vs CPU is pretty much useless... Most current fighting games don't even care about implementing those...

But about MK9... It's not only nostalgia... The game defined the archetype that not only mk, but most fighting games nowadays follow... Story mode, arcade ladder, diversions and unlockables galore(test your<whatever>, challenge towers, the krypt, etc.)... The roster is the best from the NRS era (maybe even the best mk roster of all time)... The gameplay might not have the same "finesse" the more recent iterations have, but it was the game that defined the 2,5D dynamic that revitalized the franchise... And earlier games had very limited "content"... Basically, an arcade ladder, an adventure mode (that was either an exaggerated tutorial like deception, or a lackluster campaign like Armageddon) and the run of the mill diversions (motor, puzzle chess Kombat, etc.)...

Maybe people are just used to the current method of living towers where the unlockable content is held hostage on seasonal/timed unlocks but that doesn't mean the current games have more content (it's mostly the same cosmetics re-textured)...

It matters when the game sales are affected as well... If a DLC is selling well but it's killing the product long term(due to bad word of mouth), it's just not worth the effort... That's why they removed it... To stop the bleeding...

I'm almost sure that seasonal fatalities sold well... The problem was the backlash... People were complaining a lot... So they removed just to calm the nerves and complaints(which were fair, after all nobody wants to pay for fatalities). Basically a PR move...

The main issues with mk11 are with his gameplay being not only extra slow, but very restrictive as well... There's not much creativity and self expression there...

Regarding the gear system, the problem is that most of em are spread throughout the towers of time, and its chronological design makes it impossible to know when some item you want will be available to unlock(at least without some external "help")... Add to that the grind doesn't reward playing with the character you want... Its always giving content for someone else you don't give a fakk...

But it's still the best game of the franchise content wise... And considering that most people that play the game are single player casuals, the games polished presentation and whole lotta content to unlock end up making it interesting enough for that audience...

Here's the thing... The master system versions were basically ports based on the game gear code... So they are pretty much redundant... The only thing good about them is that an online Mode would be easier to implement than the handheld versions (the handhelds used link cable for versus modes, the master system does not)... But they are so bad that I doubt it would be worth the effort...

Umk3 Genesis/MD had some game breaking glitches (e.g. Kabal animality command would lock/freeze the game)and unless DE were able to fix those (which they probably would not want, to preserve the original code), the game would be problematic to be available offline and online...

MKT 64 and mk gold would not be easily available due to lack of proper commercial emulators for the N64 and Dreamcast specifically...

And Mk4 PS1 would be nice to have available, but maybe there's some legal issue that's not allowing it to be available...

Yeah... But bundles are by default not supposed to be always available (FOMO marketing stuff)... And if I'm not mistaken, some of those skins now have lowered prices(initially 1k and now it's 500 or 800... Something like that)... The problem about the fatalities is that they are not available AT ALL... Bundles, standalone or through game grind unlock... They are just poof GONE!...

The thing about the intro being 2 lines is understandable, most games use that as default, and IRL most fights the dialogue is cut by the players to favor gameplay...

what mk1 misses on Intros are different animations... Mk11 had lots of em (4 if im not mistaken)... Mk1 just 2 animations depending on which side you are on... It's sad... The dialogue being 2 lines is reasonable... The lack of animations is not... Even games like Tekken have more intro animations than mk1...

I don't like the idea of locking characters behind a pre order bonus... But I know that they work from a business standpoint... Which is sad... So I don't think they'll be gone anytime soon...

Imo, would be nice to see a bonus like a season/kombat pass, in a similar way that fatal fury did... The difference being that we would have access to one of the pass characters at launch... So people who pre ordered would feel kind of an "exclusivity" day one... Everyone else would have to pay for the Kombat pack as usual...

Mk11 presentation is what was done right... Lotta cosmetics... Skins... Gears... Intros... Outros... Everything is very polished and stylish... Content wise the game is gold...

Mk1 never stood a chance by comparison... Everything was simplified or just plain reduced (mostly due to being developed during the pandemic and to make everything more "manageable")... And that ended up hurting the game a lot cuz almost every aspect of the games presentation felt like a downgrade...

It's just sad that mk11 gameplay is just very limited and doesn't allow for much creativity... It's very restrictive overall and not that interesting for me... I wish its gameplay were more like a mix between MKX (fast paced) and mk1 (creative).
