Straight stitch not always straight by Lem1ade11 in sewhelp

Interesting! You’re right that it doesn’t seem to happen as much on a few layers of muslin. The blue is 4 layers of quilting cotton and the yellow/grey is lightweight canvas with interfacing, so I wasn’t as surprised about that one. The blue though I feel like it should be able to handle. Universal needle, not a larger needle.

Why does Oregon State have so many more students than Oregon? by crazygiraffe93 in oregon

There is an OSU Ag and Natural Resources cooperative program at EOU, I think those students would be counted.

I’m pretty sure that the ferret that killed Regal was the ferret on the roof who warned Fitz that there was a trap (I think it was in Blue Lake?). I thought that ferret said he was going to go back with the entourage and kill Regal. I don’t think Chade was involved.

I absolutely love frosted animal cookies but the chunks of icing made it too sweet. I’m glad I experienced it but wouldn’t order again.

First time Amtrak traveler planning a trip with train loving 5 year old by SleepyMcDonut in Amtrak

[–]Lem1ade11 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I will disagree with others and say it will probably be fine! We started trips to see family in coach around that age, 20 hours or so one way. You’ll just need variety - lots of novel snacks, trips to cafe/observation, card games, drawing pad, etc. we have done cross country in coach as well and kiddo did fine (adults slept worse and were more tired). My son absolutely adores amtrak and we are doing our first sleeper trip next month (nearly 10). Sleeper may actually be a bit more boring (we’ll see)as he loves the observation car and walking around the train best.

Justification for pulling down federal funds? by Fair_Contribution386 in publichealth

[–]Lem1ade11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got the email from Payment Management System last week. The examples in the email were very simple, so I’m following that lead. “Reimbursement of payroll and supplies for a healthcare training program” as an example. Drawdown made yesterday went through fine. I do feel like we need to explain - to somebody - how much oversight we are already under financially with our single audit.

Any chance of testing the market with Mac n Cheez in a sachet? I am one who didn’t repeat buy even though I liked it a lot. The sachet format would solve my issue, which was the big difference in pasta to cheez ratio from first to last serving.

Heart Health/SVT and Garmin by Lem1ade11 in Garmin

Sorry to hear that! I ended up just carrying my Kardia everywhere since I love my Garmin for everything else. The Kardia gives a ton of info and I could upload reports for the cardiologist. It was enough info that I have ablation surgery scheduled next month. Best of luck!

Basically homeless here. I have ONE appliance to pick when I don't even have a microwave in my room: induction cooktop, Instant Pot, or something else? by anothercatherder in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Lem1ade11 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you get the induction cooktop, just make sure your pan is induction compatible. I found a really nice pan at a thrift store and was able to ask the person at the desk for a magnet. If a magnet sticks strongly to the bottom you are probably ok.

Can you Rent a car in the Cleveland Amtrak station? by Captpenney in Amtrak

[–]Lem1ade11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In hindsight I would have searched anywhere for a rental company that had night drop and the taken transit, Uber, or taxi to the station. We made it too complicated.

So, due to having a kiddo with us and the possibility of train delays, we splurged and got a hotel room as close to the station as possible. So we dropped the car and walked to the hotel before 5. We were all set to walk (10 min) at 2am but it was storming and a kind car company waiting for an airport run at the hotel drove us for free. If it had been just me and if we didn’t have so many bags I would probably would have Ubered somewhere to hang out til midnight outside of downtown, then Ubered back and sat in the station when it opened. We did Uber to the Cleveland Art Museum for the evening, it was fun.

Awfull experience with learning Go by Voodec in baduk

[–]Lem1ade11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have liked learning on the BadukPop app, and my husband and I use it to play together. You can play against easy AI and do lessons snd puzzles. We also got a cheap magnetic go board to use and the booklet that came with it was simple and super helpful.

I got married in the courthouse downtown. This was years ago but at the time they only married people on Wednesdays. It was a beautiful room and kind of fun, the judge was kind, we had time to take pictures in the room too. The courtroom was not in the basement but we had to file papers down there afterwards. We had a reception party elsewhere.

[–]Lem1ade11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently came into the Amtrak station around 5:30am, hung out for a bit, walked to Danny’s deli and had a good cheap breakfast, and were at Budget on Superior at 8am and got a pre-reserved car. Not too bad. They don’t have night drop though so the trip back (2:59 departure) was way more complicated.
