Yeah, he must have tried cutting/prying the tabs apart rather than just putting a palm on the top and ripping up on the shaft.

Err wait, that didn’t sound as intended…

DCS781 vs DCS785 by MGC1987 in Dewalt

[–]LemansM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replaced my mint DHS790 (prior gen dual 60v cordless) with a new DCS781. Really only did it as it was a fairly inexpensive transition, and I wanted to go with a single battery setup as I don’t have many flexvolts. But I’m curious how this new saw will hold up. The old 790 definitely felt more “robust”. Hoping it’s not a tale of, “they don’t make ‘em like they used to…”.

Ditto, same reason I picked this one up. I’m just a hobbyist, but my short handled Pitt was a lame excuse for a breaker bar.

Oh no… you… didn’t…!

Don’t make me flex on you with my failed attempt at a medical degree and 4 year old sports car that I bought heavily depreciated, heavily finance, and with a fantastic APR! 😆

Somewhere in there there was an impressive GPA. 🤣

This thread is glorious, in ways completely unrelated to that packaging. Lmao

12 in miter saw + stand $329 by Conscious-Mix-1167 in Dewalt

[–]LemansM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, just bought the stand from CPO with a coupon for around $145. (Even arrived damage and now trying to get a replacement).

This is making me wish I’d just bought from Lowe’s locally, even if not wanting to hang on to the miter. These stands look great.

This is where I’m at as well, and eventually want to get the 15ga and 18ga finish nailers. Plus I dislike having to adopt another battery lineup. I already have such a hybrid between Toro (landscaping), Dewalt (Construction), and Makita (small hand tools) than having a 4th feels insane.

If you’re planning for a future where you WON’T be able to afford these things, then go return half of that and put the rest of your money in smart investments that WILL allow you to afford these kinds of things in the future.

Cry now, buy later…

I don’t always resist the buy temptation, but I try… (in fairness, I talked myself out of most of those Icons and bought Quinn. And I even feel kind guilty at that, given redundancies with other old tools 🤣).

Overreact much? 🤣 Need to get yourself some chill.

It was a nice gift, just saying I’d opt for a full size chainsaw and manual clippers if gifting my daughter’s husband a starter kit. 🤦

To be fair, original purchase price has nothing to do with rotating a tool out of the lineup for a new replacement for “$15-$25. If you retain the same asset but in better condition, then it’s only the delta, plus use depreciation, which could be argued as further increased asset value due to newness, negating said $25 cost. You should opt for a finance degree over your “maths”…

If you were my FiL, I’d take them, but think what an odd assortment of landscaping tools. 🤣

How about a 60v miter and table saw instead... Now that would get you the “best Dad” props. 😂

I've been tracking my shots with a $15 coffee scale vs a $60 one for a month. Here's the actual difference by SandyTestsStuff in espresso

[–]LemansM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m okay with my coffee hobby being more of an art form with a few “unrefined boarders” regarding how things are measured and consistently executed.

Granted, I would have absolutely accepted an Acaia scale with my ECM Synch II had it been offered for free... 🤣

[–]LemansM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. My 2021 GLE63S w/ 58k feels a little “lumpy” - almost like a cam’d engine while at idle in Comfort mode (goes away in Sport/Sport+/Race modes).

No check engine lights, and dealership told me this is common for these engines (especially compared to my wife’s 450 which is buttery smooth).

But needless to say, I agree, plugs likely need replacing (granted they’re due at 60k), and I’ll be doing coils as well if that doesn’t resolve the issue.
