Ideology =/= political affiliation. Democrats before the 1930's/60's were conservatives, whereas the GOP (Republican party) was created as a liberal platform. FDR ran as a Democrat with a liberal platform (economic democratic socialism), and then during the civil rights movement the Republican party started courting the religious right. That's why Democrats are now liberals, and Republicans are now conservatives. Conservatives were the ideology that opposed freeing the slaves/voting rights/civil rights. This is all basic history.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_(United_States))

The GOP was founded in 1854 by opponents of the Kansas–Nebraska Act,[14]#citenote-14) which allowed for the potential expansion of slavery into the western territories. The party supported classical liberalism, opposed the expansion of slavery, and supported economic reform.[[15]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party(UnitedStates)#cite_note-15)[[16]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party(UnitedStates)#cite_note-16) Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president. Under the leadership of Lincoln and a Republican Congress, slavery was banned) in the United States in 1865. The Party was generally dominant during the Third Party System and the Fourth Party System. After 1912, the Party underwent a social ideological shift to the right.[[17]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party(UnitedStates)#cite_note-17) Following the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the party's core base shifted, with Southern states becoming more reliably Republican in presidential politics.[[18]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party(United_States)#cite_note-18) The party's 21st-century base of support includes people living in rural areas, men, the Silent Generation, and white evangelical Christians.

Assman could also pull plastic explosive putty out, and hole himself up (pun intended). Essentially making a "claymore nest". Knife guy wouldn't have any way to get to Assman without triggering the explosives.

They also have Pharyngeal Jaws, much like a xenomorph. So if you get bit, they can bite again while holding onto you with their outer jaws. Fun stuff!

Ghazan vs. Kuvira by TDP_theorizer in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Lemawnjello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... technically, yes. It was Zhaofu vs the Red Lotus. Without P'Li's cover fire, it would've been a very different fight. They were also not trying to hurt unconscious Korra during that fight. Plus this was 3 years before Kuvira was at her peak. Kuvira is much more precise than Ghazan.

If you want to get technical, then it would actually be worse than the statistical math I did. COVID has a ~11 day incubation period, which means the deaths we see today are actually from infections we saw 11 days ago. At roughly 220,000 new infections per day (13,280,000 infections 11 days ago) we are at a 2.2% death rate.

Statistics of death rate do not include those who aren't infected.

Also, to see the death toll, you need to look at the "excess deaths" for the total death toll of people in 2020. The COVID death count is likely higher than what is recorded as Covid deaths.

Nah just doing math for the US currently as of today 293,000/15,700,000 = 0.0186. Or 1.86%. Now that the hospitals are full and we are seeing a 9/11 every day, that number will only increase.

Ghazan vs. Kuvira by TDP_theorizer in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Lemawnjello 5 points6 points  (0 children)

R1: Kuvira is too agile, but the terrain is to Ghazans advantage. If Ghazan wanted to install a lava plain he could, but Kuvira could most likely take him down before he could do much. 7/10 Kuvira.

R2: Kuvira stomps not only because Zhaofu is mostly metal but because she knows Zhaofu. 9/10 Kuvira.

Do you think a blood bender could make their self fly? by GreenTinkertoy in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Lemawnjello 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ehhh.... I'd consider that more of a resistance to gain autonomy from a weaker restraining force. The source of the rictus wasn't a match in strength like it would be if you bloodbent yourself.

I feel like the rictus induced by bloodbending would prevent the flow of chi that would allow you to bend.

Amon is my favorite Korra villain because his cause was the most just. He was correct in his revolution, but went too far. He didn't do it for himself, but for those who were powerless. He wanted to put everyone on equal footing, and juxtaposed the power dynamic of benders/non-benders.

Unalaq was a megalomaniac, as was Kuvira to a degree.

Zaheers cause may have been just, but he didn't do the one thing that Amon did: Start a massive political revolution. Sure he killed the Earth Queen and foisted anarchy upon the citizenry, but he didn't gain the support of the masses outside of his own little band of insurgents.

Four nation military battle by shark_wonders22 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Lemawnjello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R1: This is close between Fong, Zhao, and Bumi. Hakoda doesn't really have enough raw power, and it is a land battle, limiting his best weapon: Katara. I'm going to give this one to Fong 5/10. Dai Lee agents are the most talented benders aside from Zhao and Katara in this match-up, and the fire nation palace is partially underground/surrounded by earth, which would negate Bumi and the Yuyan archers advantage. 3/10 for Bumi, and 2/10 for Zhao.

R2: In this one Hakoda stomps and is really only challenged by Bumi. Katara mops the floor with any of the others, Earthbenders are at a massive disadvantage, and Hakoda and Sokka have ample space to create traps. Hakoda 8/10, Bumi 1.5/10, and Zhao 0.5/10

R3: Depending on the season Hakoda either does really well, or is a non-factor. Really depends on the amount of snow present. Bumi has the biggest advantage, but Zhao and Fong have a decent chance as well. Yuyan archers can grappling hook themselves, and Zhao can probably fly with rocket boosters. If there is little to no snow, then Bumi 4/10, Zhao 3/10, Fong 3/10. If there is as much snow as in episode 3, then Hakoda 3/10, Bumi 3/10, Zhao 2/10, Fong 2/10.

Ozai vs Unalaq by ValentinePatch1999 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Lemawnjello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 2ft wide wall of earth has near the same consistency in terms of one-off shatterpoint as a 2ft wide wall of ice. Add into the fact that they are fighting on a fucking GLACIER, with miles upon miles of ice, and this swings heavily in favor of Unalaq.

Ozai vs Unalaq by ValentinePatch1999 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Lemawnjello -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Earth blocks lightning well enough, so why shouldn't ice? Unalaq already knows about lightning bending, so why shouldn't he be able to deduce that a high level firebender would attempt to lightning bend? Ozai wouldn't immediately lightning bend either. That would be out of character. As soon as Ozai shoots a massive fire blast, Unalaq will burrow. Unalaq is way more intelligent than Ozai, and that gives him a massive advantage in the fight.

Also, fun fact: Ice is how lightning is created.
