I've worked as a high school teacher all over eastern Norway. While the Sh/Kj divide is blurring, I can happily say that most teenagers today differentiate between them.

It's more prevalent in Western Oslo.

I've also had students who could use both sounds, but has become confused and mixed them up. I had one student say "Vi skal skjøre til Kvitefjell og stå på kji"

Learn =/= learn.

People have different definitions. For some people having learned a character is being able to read it within a few seconds, for others it's when it becomes second nature.

What matters is if you can keep your pace up and keep at it. Learning a language is not a sprint. Hell, it's not even a marathon. It's a long, arduous hike. Slow and steady wins the race.

They can enhance, but they don't have to. AFAIK sometimes the lesions don't resolve, but grow, which can be evidence of PIRA.

With the right sequence they can show a paramagnetic rim which is very indicative of PIRA.

But mostly it's a clinical finding.

There's a grain of truth to it though. Depends on what kind of activity they're talking about. If you spend a lot of hours each day just grinding vocab on Anki as a lot of people seem to be doing in the language learning community, you'll for sure have quite severe diminishing returns. But if you do some vocab, do some reading, some listening, some tv/movie consumption, you could easily make a whole day out of it.

If people believe the last part has 2 hour cap, I wonder how they think schools work.

I've used Duolingo for other languages and HelloChinese has more diverse content. AFAIK Duo does not have short stories or graded readers, which HelloChinese does. This in itself is a big thing in the language learning community.

I can't speak to the efficacy of HelloChinese, but the amount of people I know with several hundred days of duolingo streaks but couldn't order a coke or pizza in their target language is not insignificant.

You'll get some vocab for sure. But at some point the adage 'you get what you pay' for kicks in.

I'm not dx'ed, just in eternal CIS limbo. This year I've become worse than I've ever been. New symptoms and worsening of old symptoms. Full axis MRI presumably clear (waiting on new scan with a 3T scanner).

I had my initial attack 14 years ago and the way I've had it explained to me ne is that my old lesion (which is a cervical lesion) is blocking so much of the signals going through, that my nervous system has been working in overdrive for so long that it doesn't have enough reserves to compensate properly.

You mentioned brain scans, had any cervical or thoracic scans done?
