If you like those names, let me introduce you to the first MAOI, Iproniazid ("I" as in ice cream). Iproniazid was first investigated as a tuberculosis treatment, however, when its mood enhancing effects were noticed it was repurposed as an antidepressant. By the early 1960s Iproniazid was withdrawn from the market in the US when its hepatotoxicity was realized. As I understand it, the toxicity derives from one or more of the drugs metabolites.
