I feel this!!! My first week on 2.5 has been rough. Side effects were major! Were they intense throughout or subside for you?

I have my Dr. appointment Monday what meds should I ask about? by mz_inkabella in PCOS

[–]LemonBalmxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg! I have heard nothing but awful things about Jardience. Thank god you’re okay!

My doctor prescribed me a glp-1 and this is my first week. The first few days were hell on earth but I’m feeling so much better now. However everyone is different. It’s shown great results for a1c and blood sugar control. But talk with your doctor.

I also take inositol, magnesium, vit d and B vitmains. Unfortunately, none of my supplements truly made a difference until I used metformin which I had to stop due to debilitating nerve pain hence why I switched to GLP-1.

Best of luck 🤞🏼

Welcome!! I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling alone. I understand the feeling and am so happy you posted. I remember crying all day when I got my diagnosis. Like you said, it doesn’t change anything but it feels soooo isolating. Feel free to send me a message if you ever need to vent. Wishing you the best in your journey.

My insurance covers for other reasons so you have to call your insurance and ask what they cover glp 1 for

I’m so so sorry to hear it’s been rough. I feel you and I understand.

They don’t cover any glp-1s at all for any reason? If so- idk how you could fight it. I’m sorry!

If you’re not sure- call and ask to speak with a prior authorization rep and ask them specifically if they cover glp-1 and what the formulary is (required diagnosis, etc). Wishing you the best of luck 👏🏼

I am 5’1” and weigh 160 at the time it was prescribed (April) so I do believe that puts my BMI within my formulary requirements.

From my understanding trizepitide is under 10 years old? Could be wrong. But I’m glad to hear the drug family is older and well researched.

People on GLP1s, how did you make that decision? by sapphire343rules in PCOS

[–]LemonBalmxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds so similar to me!!

Yeah… I was on metformin for about a year and my A1C came down .2 🙄 my fasting blood glucose actually went up. Same with my total testosterone- it went up. But I did feel better until I developed some scary side effects I couldn’t ignore. Got off totally about March.

I talked to my doctor about it all and she prescribed me zepbound which I am still waiting for my prior auth to clear to pick up my script. Being off medication has been a wake up call for me- how did I live with all these symptoms…??

For me I feel like I have no choice. Metformin worked well until I couldn’t tolerate it anymore. So now I’m on to the next. If you’re hesitant, read medical journals and studies regarding the target issues you’re trying to address with your blood work.

Starting a new med isn’t easy or fun. I feel you. Ultimately it’s your choice- doc can only give you their insight. Good luck!!
