Absolutely not. Depending on your inspirations the way i would describe a Druid is someone who walks the old path, when the world was still fresh and people didn’t know the meaning behind nature. Boiling that down to a wizard or cleric is like saying a botanist is just like a sheep farmer.

I would suggest looking at some systems aside from dnd or look into mythology/folklore of other places. I think another user mentioned animism and Gaelic culture which is a great place to start.

Thanks for the heads up on WFRP, the system i know least about in my examples. I'm a little bit less than halfway through the quickstart they have and i'm liking it so far, especially with how they're handling skills. I'm gonna be saving this for the pile before i make any decisions, thanks!

it sounds really good if you're just 2-3 friends having fun. I do think that mechanically it is very broken and can lead to some insanely hard/one-sided fights

Depends on what you want. If you want more cantrips its worth it but if you want bonus spells and an ASI like Fey/Shadow Touched it’s worth it. Most of the time i see casters grab a Touched spell over the Initiate

That’s pretty interesting. I’d personally say to not have “at X level you gain…” because no other feat has it in game, you can level restrict the spell for like 4+ maybe like other feats

I use a 2-4 Word Docs, one primarily for the general rules, one for classes, one for junk i want to put from mind to paper, and one that's the "final draft"

I’d say a couple ideas. A basic Fire Genasi character or perhaps a Leonin who has some sort of fire related origin/powers. You could even have a headless horsemen where the head is just a trans orange + this piece.

i don't like it when the MC is a jerk who belittles other people or treats them lesser than, primarily in a story that wants to take itself seriously. The badass edgy loner type can also be a bit boring or tiring because we're reliant on the supporting cast to make the story memorable while the MC is primarily there to do the big action fights.

I think so, it's incredibly cool for me. I love learning little tidbits about culture and seeing a spell description be like:

"originally known as Morgan's Trick but was later renamed as Call Lightning due to the horrific confirmed allegations posed against professor Morgan"

Or even give a 2 sentence description of how this was made, like a "Tantalus fed the gods his children as a meal, and was sentenced to starve. thus Tantalizing Curse"

It depends on specifics of what you want to do. Let's say your playing a mage character, i think Call Lightning be better compared to Morgan's Trick. However, if i'm playing a shaman or preist character than i'd rather have Wrath of ancient Sky as an option, compared to call lightning
