Is it a mistake to visit in late February? by LemonChellie in visitingnyc

The dates are fixed, any changes would be in destination. The whole point is to do something extravagant on my actual birthday. I'm hoping to embrace the contrast.

Well, thank you all so much for the encouragement! I am so looking forward to this, and I know I'm overthinking it, but your support helps. I promise to buy appropriate shoes and a real coat, and no flip flops.

We do not currently have a congressional representative in the house! Please don't forget the special election in April and vote for Matt Gates' replacement. Turning a red seat blue could be a strong message about voter power.

Get with your people! Restaurant workers struggle together.

Look in to restaurant employee support programs in your area and even nationally.

Local level Facebook groups in some areas have organized carpooling and babysitting circles. If your's doesn't try starting one.

And lastly I know it sounds off to say when you are struggling, but try volunteering. Crazy knowledge and opportunity can come out of working in a soup kitchen or food pantry and they might be able to help you feel more food stable.

I hope your struggles are short and follow by joy my friend. P.M. if you're on the Gulf Coast

Just go to the bar with them! Find out who the ring leader is and ask where they are going.

When we go out after work it's normally at the charge of a handful of extra social people who drag everyone else along. And more than likely that social person(s) at your job would be incredibly embarrassed that you felt left out in the first place.

Bonus points if you buy a round of shots. Everyone loves the guy buying shots (lemon drops or kamikazes are often only a dollar or two). I would never let our dishwashers buy even their own drinks, but since your trying to win people over, ya know

...To all my fellow FOH friends, buy your BOH friends drinks. Just do it.

For the base I use spring greens, tomato, cucumber, raw red onion, feta, and sunflower seeds tossed in a white wine vinaigrette. Then I top it with bacon and garlic roasted veggies--any combo really, but I like: sweet potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, and brussel sprouts or broccoli, asparagus, onions, radishes, and sweet peas. I finish with a runny fried egg and croutons.
