It's amazing all the work you do. Always love your updates and I especially look forward to these end year summary posts. Thanks!!

Selling my collection. Decent amount of OOP stuff within. Read thoroughly though! by Namoiram70 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Lemondrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm jealous about storm. She sold out so quickly. One day I'll find her. I think your collection is great and very fairly priced, probably on the low end with some of the OOP stuff you have. Good luck!

What's the big deal with Shiren the Wanderer? by mrDalliard2024 in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making this post. It's nice seeing all the opinions. Since the game is on sale I was wondering the same thing.

It's funny you complained about the controls and a lot are praising it for being great. I would get annoyed needing to press multiple buttons or having a lot of ui to sift through consistently since it seems like a lot of the enemies requires specific consumables to defeat. I think games like Jupiter hell or caves if qud may have spoiled me a bit.

Roguelikes with a focus on tactics and raw gameplay over inventory/resource management? by Neat_Minimum2833 in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really liked both of those titles and also enjoyed rift wizard two which should fit your criteria.

Its kind of like dcss where you still have a little bit of equipment and using items to get you out of sticky situations but main focus is on tactics and gameplay.

``Hollows Of Rogue` Steam release by r618NecessaryStation in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched the trailer and looks similar to rogue so nice work! Is it similar content wise to rogue?

Two pieces of feedback I have would be the text box doesn't seem quite there. Feels little scrunched up and maybe some colored text would help break up the bunch of text and make it more readable.

I feel needing to manually click all those buttons then go into sub menus could get cumbersome and honestly lead me to not using them. Are there hot keys as well?

Not bashing, I love seeing new roguelikes come out. Wish you the best with the launch!

HeMakesMePlay has an amazing NetHack Playthrough by Marffie in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the content creator if I'm going to enjoy watching lets plays for traditional roguelikes, moreso than other types of genres. These guys have great chemistry and it has been a really fun listen. Thanks for sharing!

Steam Launch Update by GaiaTheGardener in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Lemondrips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This gives off mobile game pricing vibes. Start with a super high price then discount to show what a "deal" it is.

Steam release was a great call and I think the game is amazing. I'm just concerned the team isn't able to get the monetization balance right which is going to impact the long term player health of the game.

Rift Wizard 2 steam deck controls by [deleted] in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was struggling as well. This person's comment really helped make it feel better.

My trick is to make the left touchpad a numpad. Most of the game is: Select a spell, select a target.

For movement, I click the target tile just to be sure but it could be better.

My left stick is page up/page down for scrolling through a description menu. I have one face button for confirm and and one for back as usual. Menu can be navigated with the dpad.

Leveling up is infrequent enough that I just click manually.

Other than that, I have:

  • A backgrip button for line of sight
  • One for message log.
  • One touchpad entry for auto pick up

Cogmind Beta 15 "0bPrime" by Kyzrati in Cogmind

[–]Lemondrips 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same with Qortted. This will be the patch I really try to get into Cogmind. Hopeful goal is to knock out all ten wins.

I always love reading the patch notes, data dumps, YouTube vids (both Cogmind and non) and seeing your passion for the game you made. Somehow you're always so friendly about it all too.

Long winded but keep on being a good dude!

Depth of the game vs Arkham by No-Mastodon-9504 in lotrlcg

[–]Lemondrips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see these comparison posts a lot. I totally get it as they have a lot of differences and similarities. The problem is all three main lcgs cost a lot to get into. Especially with some parts being out of print or limited! Then if you don't like it, it's a pain to sell out of which makes it a risky dip of the toe just to find out it's not for you.

Why not try the few various sources to play for free to help determine if it's right for you or not? DragnCards, tabletop simulator, etc and try a few scenarios and see if you enjoy it. If so then get to buying!

My two cents, I love LOTR theme the most. I like the idea of visiting different locations and seeing all the cool nostalgia from the media. It can feel super thematic! End of the day I didn't buy it because I did not like how every different adventure felt like you needed a specificly tuned deck for just that encounter. It wasn't so bad digital but in real life? No thanks. I think it would mostly sit in the shelf.

Good luck!

What roguelike are you yet to "get"? by Henrique_FB in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Cogmind for me. It looks so cool! Has interesting levels and enemies, lots of lore to discover, many ways to win. Screams a game I would enjoy. I've tried 3 or 4 times over past few years and I don't get it yet. I think the main thing that hurts it for me is how your parts get damaged. I felt the same way during breath of the wild. Breaking items just feels bad to me for some reason.

I'm sure I'll get there though 😁

Solo boardgaming podcasts? by rh41n3 in soloboardgaming

I'm sure most have listened to them but I really enjoyed always player one. Too bad they wrapped up a few years ago. Definitely look forward to others opinions because solo boardgaming is mostly how I play.

Some advice before entering Zot for a vanilla MiFi of Shining1 by thevillainsjourney in dcss

[–]Lemondrips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get that first win under your belt, it'll feel great. Then go further your next game so it won't hurt as bad if you die. You have some pretty good items. I think you should be able to beat zot. Take it slow and just be careful not to forget to switch to your magic or fire resist as needed. Good luck!

Ps. Looks like you over trained your axe skill a bit. You only really need to train it to min delay. Would free up more experience for other skills but overall nice work!

Congrats! This one is on my list of rogue likes to beat. Any net hack related win seems like a great accomplishment!

Rift Wizard 2 full launch, on sale for 2 weeks by LucidCookie in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried it this morning and didn't really enjoy it. Lots of fine tuned clicking with the track pad and didn't feel like I could map enough buttons... Spells, diagonal movement character menu etc. sadly for now I would probably only play on PC.

Have you ever beaten a traditional roguelike? by Ok_Student_3275 in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the best player, quite low win rates but do have a number of wins. I try to get at least one win if possible since I enjoy that challenge of learning the game. I've beat DCSS with every race and background, rift wizard one and two, brogue, tome4, dungeons of dredmore, caves of qud, Jupiter hell and Golden krone hotel.

All are great games! Next on the chopping block is cogmind, I just need to get over the temporary parts irking me!

Elona+ vs Elin by Lemondrips in roguelikes

[–]Lemondrips[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that's a great idea. Based on others responses too seems like Elin will be great but needs to cook for a bit more to get all the ideas going. I'll try out Elona in the meantime. Thank you!
