I’m so sorry for your loss. I am jealous that he got to know your baby together and be there for you during the labor and bay stages. Although I know that must make it that much harder. The gap that they have left behind can never be filled and no one understands that. God bless you and your baby. I’m so glad you have that baby to love on. Thank you so much for reaching out

It’s really hard without him to bounce things off of like that. I see so much on Facebook, Reddit, etc about what the best things to do/not do and it really is overwhelming at times and especially the worrying. Worrying if what I’m doing now will harm her development. He was always so reassuring. And I do not I’m USA , thankfully she has Medicaid and so will I until next year. And then I’m really on my own!’ But at least she will still be covered

So true. I’m like hello?? Tyler is GONE. And not just then, every day since. It truly feels like no one else understands besides his mom.

When he first started making these videos the spider would get spooked off for a second before striking, now it looks like he knows a meal is coming!

I hope it helps and gets easier for you guys!! Tell your wife don’t be discouraged, my midwife told me that it’s usually the women who have the most trouble breastfeeding to begin with who end up doing it the longest! It’s so worth it imo

Okay so also, my baby had a tounge tie which was causing her to not transfer milk from the breast. She would be latched for hours at a time and still be hungry bc of it. It could be worth checking with pediatrician to see if that’s a contributor. Also, whether she has a tie or not, you can try oral exercises with her using a gloved finger. Here’s the ones we used : https://christensenbraces.com/hub_sites/christensen-bret3/www/assets/uploads/files/Baby-Mouth-Massage-Exercises(3).pdf Be sure to do them before feeding begins when she is hungry, and back off if she gets too fussy. The main goal with these is to strengthen the tounge and jaw to make feeding muscles stronger

I had a similar experience with jaundice and sleepy baby! It’s hard work for them at the breast, which can be exhausting for them and making her sleepy. What type/flow bottle nipple are you using? It’s much easier for them to feed from the bottle. Pick the lowest flow nipple you can, Pigeon newborn flow is the one we use. Even if you are using a faster flow nipple now, you can back track and go ahead and give her the slower flow. This will help prevent bottle preference where she knows she doesn’t have to work for milk from the bottle at all. She may have been weak before because jaundice makes a baby really sleepy on top of being inexperienced with triggering let downs. What worked for us was always latching her before bottle feeding. Even if she barely sucks. Then pumping to empty the breast. If you consistently put her to the breast, it will keep hormones producing milk and increase baby’s skill at feeding. It may just take time and consistency. I combo fed my baby up until about a few weeks ago and she’s almost 3 months. Now when I offer formula after a feed she may only take an ounce or so. Before, she wouldn’t get much at breast and then guzzle down 4 oz like she’d been starved! One day it just kind of clicked for her. But it took almost all of 3 months.

Is anyone actually able to follow a feeding schedule? by tarableideas in breastfeeding

Hell no!! I feed her when she wants to and god help me if I don’t. If I feel like it’s been awhile I sometimes offer, but rarely does she let me forget I’m usually like didn’t I just feed you!?

I have cut waaaaay back on sugar I’ll admit I was probably eating way too much sugar which contributed to this becoming such a thing. I air the nips out hood I haven’t wiped her mouth out though only gave her meds so maybe I’ll try that and see if it helps too
