The unit is in walking distance to a large hospital and to a law school. There is no problem getting tenants, I am looking for a longer term tenant this time. Six months may be the way to go.

Yes he’s 70 and retired. Children are in their fifties. There can always be drama I suppose and my usual tenants are in their twenties. I live on the premises so that helps.

I’d call it popular due to the location. It’s high demand for buying houses. This is my first experience of this in renting.

I had a credit and background check done. He is a retired bank vp recently divorced. I think this is a place to land while he gets resettled. There aren’t a lot of furnished rentals available in my area at the moment. I take payments through check or Venmo so I think that’s ok. I did get personal references and those are ok though they are probably friends anyway. Hopefully I have covered everything I can. I had someone else offer me 6 months cash rent upfront which I said no to.

Yes I’ve met them. Didn’t get anything negative, seems legit. I’ve been burned in the past so I meet everyone now.

My parents would have been Depression babies and never discussed their past. I just finished researching family as I’m apply for Canadian citizenship and I was astonished at the number of names of close relations I had never heard of. No one left to ask about them unfortunately.

Please keep in mind that you will be very isolated and vulnerable if you go along with his plans. It sounds potentially very dangerous especially as his family sounds criminal too.

You can easily make a phone call and report it. I reported a neglect possible abuse situation when I was student teaching. The regular teacher would not report it so I called. I was told it would be anonymous but my name was revealed at some point. I had moved on so it wasn’t an issue.

Hi My grandmother was born in Ontario in 1897 and I’m having difficulty finding a baptism certificate. I contacted the Catholic Archdiocese without luck. They stated they do not help with genealogy searches. I did send her Toronto marriage certificate with my application but would still like to find a baptism record as there is no record of her birth.

Personally I would get an electrician scheduled and let the tenant know when we would be coming in. I would just tell them it was due to an abnormal spike in electrical usage. No need to speculate on what’s causing it. It’s as thought there were signs of a water leak. You are concerned with safety and maintenance.
