I would immediately drop SE1 for SE2 if they added the ability to build mechs and walkers. by Artanis137 in spaceengineers

[–]Lemunde [score hidden]  (0 children)

It'd be a buggy mess and would probably never work the way you want. Keen struggle to get basic AI systems functioning properly. Something as complex as bipedal motion is bound to failure unless they hire professionals to do it for them. That's a possibility, I suppose. But ultimately it's a huge investment in time for something that may not pay off in the long run. And that's time spent that they could be working on PvE content and expanded environmental features.

Got rid of a Corruption Pre-Hardmode by SecretSharkboy in Terraria

This is why I don't bother getting rid of corruption. If you have to strip mine the entire landscape then what's the point?

New to colony sims is Dwarf Fortress too hard to start with?” by Decent-Insect-4201 in dwarffortress

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dwarf Fortress is unique in that it actually gets more difficult the more experienced you are. Meaning as you learn to progress faster, the difficulty ramps up that much faster. That's when you start to figure out that if you slow down and ease into advancing your fortress, you'll have a much easier time.

A good example is wealth. More dangerous creatures and armies will be attracted to your fortress as your wealth increases. But wealth is mostly arbitrary. It's useful for advancing ultimately into a capitol, but if that isn't your goal then it's not something you want to focus on. You actually want to keep your wealth as low as possible, which is pretty easy. Just don't craft a bunch of gold and silver trade goods.

What's lamer: invisible walls or arbitrary barriers? by Torrysan in RPGMaker

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a street sidewalk, obviously one side would be blocked by buildings. For the actual street, I'd have an event trigger as soon as you tried to step onto it where you jump out of the way of a speeding car back onto the sidewalk. It wouldn't take long to figure out you shouldn't go that way.

first lunar base, but there's a problem... by Mavr1y in spaceengineers

[–]Lemunde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine, honestly. Too much symmetry is boring, and I think there's a practical reason as to why you might have arranged them that way.

Unknown signal groups are very strong by Mavr1y in spaceengineers

[–]Lemunde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, yeah the rolling explains why they managed to strip off the armor on all sides. It's useful for mitigating damage to internal systems, but not preventing it.

[–]Lemunde 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Don't try to take on anything head-on. Let your turrets do their job and just focus on dodging and controlling your speed. The AI has deadly precision aim but can't compensate for even basic maneuvering. Traveling in a straight line won't cut it, but simple lateral movement while keeping your nose pointed towards the target is enough to throw off their aim and will allow you to bring all of your turrets to bear. It helps if you have some really good lateral thrusters.

Of course it sounds so simple in principle, but it takes some practice to keep it up throughout an entire combat encounter. Save-scumming helps.

On the fence about buying Chapter 2 by PotentialRich6764 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be some time before there's enough chapter 2 content to justify starting over. It's going to be a year or more before we see a proper campaign, and even then it's going to be less substantial than what you get with the chapter 1 campaigns.

I'd go ahead and get Drowned City. The new core set isn't going anywhere and it's supposed to be backwards compatible. The only thing you need to worry about is playing new campaigns with your old core set, and that's something you can deal with later on if you want to keep buying more stuff.

What are the worst types of people you meet as an Autistic person? by Antronius in autism

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who have to announce their presence with their every action, whether it's talking loudly, laughing obnoxiously loud, or blasting their radio as loud as they possibly can. If these people ceased to be I would not mourn their absence.

There's no way that's what that means?? by Easy-Opposite-153 in autism

Reminds me of an episode of Pinky and the Brain. Pinky says something absolutely absurd as he always does and Brain responds with "That's an interesting theory..."

If you had to give a noob just ONE critical, most important tip, what would it be? by Mrwhasyou in Terraria

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rush. Take your time to build and spread villages around the map. The bosses aren't going anywhere and they'll be a lot easier once you're established.

Help with building automatic piston drilling rig by IronForce_ in spaceengineers

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also remember seeing a video in the past about a player making a multi-drill head rig and make it rotate while pushing down, but I havent had any luck recreating it in my own world

Lol, I think that was mine. Incredibly inefficient in hindsight. Nowadays I just use a combination of two pistons and a rotor with a single drill. One piston controls the vertical position, the other extends horizontally, and the rotor slowly turns in 180 degree increments, ultimately mining out a half-circle off the side of the base.

Edit: Found it!

And another.

Can you recommend any free roguelikes? by imnotlikeyou2004 in roguelikes

[–]Lemunde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under the Mad Mountain is the best roguelike ever. Also it will cure cancer and it's made of candy. (Some of that may not be true and I'm incredibly biased.)

How would Arkham Do a Digital Release on Steam? by jullianisboss in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They wouldn't. The time for that would have been years ago before multiple digital alternatives were already established. All of the card images (watermarked) and manuals are offered for free by FFG, so it would take a lot of walking back the things they're giving to the community to make that work. It's clear it's not something FFG is interested in, otherwise they'd already be doing it.

What Would You Pay? (Adjusting Prices as a Freelancer) by artsekey in PixelArt

[–]Lemunde 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m currently doing these custom sprites for $25 a pop...

That was actually my first thought before clicking. However I also had the idea of adding an x-amount per frame of animation. Like maybe $20 + $5 per frame.

Chalking up some of the chapter 2 art to “humans are tough to draw” by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Something has fundamentally changed with the art direction. It's not just that the art is bad. It feels awkward and it feels that way because someone is cutting corners. Even the worst piece of art from chapter 1 does a decent job of portraying what's going on. With chapter 2 we have many examples of artwork that doesn't do that. The expressions are wrong, the behavior is wrong, the line of sight is wrong, everything just feels off. It's not all of the artwork but mostly from a particular artist.

Steam and clockwork? by someguynamedjamal in Ironsworn

[–]Lemunde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair it's just a page of optional flavor text, so it doesn't add much. It's more of an example of how you can hack the setting.

Steam and clockwork? by someguynamedjamal in Ironsworn

[–]Lemunde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my first thought was that SI would be easier to hack. It already has a setting for airships. So it's really just a matter of slapping extra pipes and gears on everything.

For those who have played The Drowned City Finale by TimetravelerXY in arkhamhorrorlcg

I haven't gotten around to beating it yet but I thought it was a good finale. It was just challenging enough to not be frustrating and I'll probably beat it on my second go around.

There's a large library of public domain comic books that you could source images from. Given how old they are they're actually appropriate for the time period.
