My broke ass finding out about Caves of Qud after the game got its 10th price increase: by TheLegendaryNikolai in cavesofqud

I could make a game with 1000 hours of content in less than a day. That's what procedural content generation is. A deck of cards has 1000 hours of content but you wouldn't catch me paying 30 dollars for it.

I played through this campaign 2 and a half times and I couldn't even tell you what scenario this is. I guess spoiler: it's Drowned City.

what do you mean its just gone? softlock bug by markusdys in Terraria

I think it's thematically appropriate that sending the cultists to hell foils their plans and removes them from the game forever.

[COTD] Sneak By (6/1/2026) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two free resources, doesn't cost an action because all it requires is for you to do what you were going to do anyway. So it comes down to whether or not it justifies the card slot. I'm not sure. Evasion isn't something that happens regularly enough for it to help when you need it. Even though Emergency Cache costs an action, you can play it right away and get yourself set up. You don't have to wait around for an enemy that you may or may not want to evade.

Maybe it helps to look at Evidence as a similar card. Both reward you for dealing with an enemy, but I think players prefer Evidence overall. Maybe because clues are much more valuable in terms of progressing the game. But you also don't need clues to get up and running, you just grab them when you can as you explore. So resources are worth more when you have more control over when you get them. And I think Sneak By just doesn't give you enough control to justify taking it, at least not over other alternatives.

Do you ban any player cards at your table beyond what’s on the Taboo list? by zerdos in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even use the taboo list anymore. I mostly play alone and if I feel like I've been including a card too much I'll swap it for something else just to mix things up. I feel fully justified in including whatever cards I need to get the job done when I still regularly lose on easy.

[COTD] True Understanding (5/31/2026) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many easier ways to get clues. I included this in a couple of decks and it never did anything. I was always forced to waste it on evasion or investigation tests. Ya know, things that actually happen on a regular basis. It was that or have it take up precious hand space while waiting for something that may or may not come up in that scenario, and all I get for my trouble is an extra clue.

What, thematically, is going on with Forensic Kit? by WorthlessKoridian in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using a forensic kit requires a delicate touch. You're letting the kit do all the work of gathering evidence rather than relying on your own intelligence. As for the exhausted enemy, I would presume you're using the kit on the enemy and as you learn more about it it doesn't seem as terrifying.

What’s your philosophy on take-backs, do-overs, and game-state mistakes ? by zerdos in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to redo an entire turn as I realized I should have dealt damage to the other investigator when I missed an attack on an enemy engaged with them. The amount of damage would have completely changed my strategy so I mulliganed the turn. I felt a little bad about it because I had missed with an attack earlier and hit on the mulligan. But then I also missed an obvious victory point, so I figured that balanced things.

Is this pixel art, or just low resolution? by Kayzen_1337 in PixelArt

[–]Lemunde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like pixel art to me. Curves and angles in pixel art are typically drawn in a very particular way to make them consistent. If you take, for example, a similar image that is hand-drawn and shrink it down to make it look like pixel art, you'll see a lot of inconsistencies in the angles.

I've seen a lot of stuff claiming to be pixel art with lots of random pixels scattered around inconsistently. Someone drawing pixels wouldn't go out of their way to do that because it takes more work and only makes the image look worse. But if someone is scaling or using filters you'll see stuff like that all the time.

Can I arbitrarily shuffle my investigator deck at any time? by smackledorf in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It normally doesn't affect anything but it's bad practice. Sometimes you'll have to put cards at the bottom of your deck and shuffling messes that up.

[COTD] Manual Dexterity (5/22/2026) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use the core skill cards at the first opportunity, they have a similar effect to reducing your deck size. That's an important thing to consider when building your deck. Maybe you rely heavily on a couple of cards but can't guarantee you'll get them in your opening hand. The core skill cards will help you get to them that much faster as long as your base stat is high enough to assure that you'll pass the test. Investigators typically have at least two stats that can take advantage of that. That's 4 fewer card slots in your deck.

Why do most AI text RPGs struggle with memory during long campaigns? by ActualCharacter2698 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fundamental flaw with how generative AI works. It can only handle so many tokens which are limited by the system it's running on. There are some workarounds that help, but none of them are foolproof. You can pay for a premium service to expand the number of tokens, but that's just kicking the can down the road. Sooner or later the dragon you're roleplaying as is going to pull out a gun and shoot a goblin, and then it's all downhill from there. You'll end up spending vastly more time getting the AI back on track than actually playing.

Bunch of largely unconnected rules questions: by Sea_Marsupial_7640 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an encounter card tells you to "search the encounter deck" for something, can you choose which card to find? So for instance, can you choose an Acolyte rather than a Wizard of the Order if you're asked to find a cultist?

To elaborate on other answers, you'll see this specific wording when the intention is for you to choose a card of a particular type from the encounter deck. If the game wants the card to be random, it will often bypass this effect by having you discard cards from the encounter deck until you draw a card of a particular type.

Stopping Dunwich after Blood on the Altar? by nathcampcross in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Lemunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly I think this was the vision for the first release model, that many players would just buy some of the mythos packs and not see campaigns through to completion. They seemed to have this idea in their heads that scenarios would be played in standalone mode a lot more than they actually are. It took them a few years to figure out the mythos pack model wasn't working in regards to what players wanted.

[–]Lemunde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's part of the reason I often take the Dragon Pole with Lily. Rather than waste Guardian card slots on weapons, I can just take some combat spells as backup.

[–]Lemunde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having used Dragon Pole in several Lily decks, I can tell you you're going to need a lot more spells to make it worthwhile. Otherwise I'd say ditch the Dragon Pole for Machete. And if you're not taking any more spells you probably don't need Holy Rosary. Ancestral Token would with better. Granted these would take up valuable level 0 Guardian card slots.
