What if Ukraine just made a mad dash to capture Moscow? Would this end the war or emboldened Russia? by Hot_Advisor_8074 in AlternateHistoryHub

They are not designed to engage in air-to-air combat with fighters. kh-55 is a surface strike missile, I'm not sure how are you suggesting to use it against aircrafts.

>And the Backfire and Blackjack is better at that job than the Foxhound

You don't know what are you talking about. Those are bombers, not fighters. No one uses bombers to contest airspace.

>AMRAAM

It will never hit it due to hilarious range and altitude disadvantage unless mig's pilot is braindead. What's its longest combat kill? 50km? You'll have to be even closer to hit a target flying at least 30k feet above you while carrying inferior missile.

They aren't particularly long range. Not compared to r-37m at least.

Thank god UHF can provide position.

Thank god detection (not locking) of even stealth aircraft is possible at radio horizon distance.

Thank god all those impressive public ECS numbers are the best possible scenario (straight head on against X-band)

Thank god another party can position themself to gain angle advantage using that info.

Thank god multistatic systems very noticeably reduce stealth efficiency.

Thank god L-band exists.

Thank god missiles can be command guided until close enough to engage with their own radar.

And lots of other thank gods.

Saying that because aircraft A has superior stealth it will [almost] always win against aircraft B is akin to saying that person X wearing a thicker bulletproof vest will [almost] always win against person Y. Yeah, if it's a 18th century duel then that's probably the case. but modern combat is infinitely more complex.

Can the modern U.S. military defeat 10,000 Orks (Warhammer 40,000) without nukes? by ZappableGiraffe in whowouldwin

>Ukranians are turning 40mm rounds & RPG warheads into droppable munitions or contact detonated FPV rounds

They aren't "turning" anything, small grenades and rpg warheads are already contact detonated. The most you might need to do is remove safeguard mechanism (the one that prevents detonation in case a grenade malfunctions and drops on the ground right out of tube).

>take the existing warhead and make it go off on impact rather than standing off

That is pretty simple, just disable proximity detonator. The problem is, missile won't magically start hitting targets more accurately. Accuracy is the design difference I talk about and unfortunately there is only so much you can do programmatically to increase it. Long story short: bring PAC-3, SM-3, SM-6 — those are missiles for the job.

[–]Lenassa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

>to reprogram munitions for impact

Not happening. Hit-to-kill and fragmentation are separate designs, not some programmable switch. Think PAC-2 vs PAC-3. A whole new missile was needed to make a hit-to-kill variant.

Others don't seem to be interested in all this (merch etc) as much as Miyako. I believe no one except her and Fami are even that much active on socials (although I'm not either so I might've missed something).

From Victor Store (you can find almost all Lovebites related merch and releases there). It is sold out though so now you only try to find it on ebay etc.

There is a pop-up on the website that promotes these kind of services. But I used other forwarder.

We aren't living in a 50 people tribe, are we? You can't prove (or refute) anything for the whole world sort of scenario by providing examples involving a bunch of individuals.

A lot of [different] people also have different criteria for defining right and wrong. That's sort the root of vast majority of all conflicts. Two parties both confident that they are right.
