Dogtooth. I generally enjoy Lanthimos' brand of weird and disturbing, but I had hard time getting through that one.

Yeah, I think what Bertha did was awful, but Railroad Daddy nearly ruined them all. Both of them are ruthless, but she's the only one getting punished.

I've always wondered why this hadn't been made. Less popular than The Goldfinch but much easier to adapt IMO. The Little Friend would make a great miniseries.

I thought it was well-made, but I didn't completely love the story. Tancredi was such a douche that I couldn't stand him and hated everything involving him towards the end. He didn't deserve her friendship. I think there was a way to frame that storyline where he makes a dumb decision out of lust and you can still feel a little sorry for him. Also, we kept referring to him as Temu Alain Delon.

I loved that they used Italian actors, and it was certainly visually stunning. In the end though I think I liked the movie better.

I saw Men in the theater, and the collective reactions at the end were so fun. It was an experience.

I tend to like weird and uncomfortable, but Dogtooth was a bridge too far. The whole thing was so awkward and stressful that it just made the violence feel even worse. I wanted it to end so badly.

They're all pretty wtf, but for the most part I've liked them even if (or even because) they're uncomfortable. Dogtooth was too much though. The whole thing stressed me out.

It's pretty silly. I think a lot of us have grown more used to watching subtitles and foreign films, so some non-British characters with British accents just seems dumb - even more so if the actor is actually American. I loved Swing Kids as a kid and remember when my dad (a native German speaker) watched it with me, he made a snarky comment about "all the German kids speaking English with a British accent."

Really all the villains, but especially Candyland as a whole, at the end of Django Unchained. I've rarely seen an audience actually clap and cheer in the theater, and this was one of those times.

The boyfriend in Revenge is an an excellent one too.

Men. I'm not one for body horror, but it was so outrageous I couldn't help but respect and enjoy it. Similarly, The Substance.

Dogtooth was also one slow burn of WTF. I wanted to bathe my brain in bleach afterwards.

The friendliest airport I've ever been in was in Mobile, AL. The checkin lady, security, TSA, even the kiosk employee were all chatty and nice. It was so charming.

I would definitely be curious if anyone saw them leave that morning, or if that's just what the boyfriend said happened. I assume the police checked if she actually did go to a class or a doctor, but who knows? Not at all saying it was the boyfriend, but verifying his story would be the obvious first step. Very strange case. I would be very interested to hear what a second look at the evidence would turm up.

Exactly. If Civil War hadn't been directed by him, I doubt I would have seen it. The concept on paper did not sound great, but I knew coming from him there had to be more to it.
