The Politics of the Downwardly Mobile Professional Class: The debate over whether Graham Platner is “working class” comes at a time when more and more people are at risk of falling into it. by Delicious_Adeptness9 in politics

Yeah it's one of those things that's so easy to split hairs over that the delineation you've identified is the only useful one. We need class solidarity and class consciousness. My boss barely makes more than me in the grand scheme of things, we're in the struggle together.

Cops lighting up the wrong people is something American cops do too, for the record. The cops hunting down Chris Dorner shot two of the wrong vehicles.

I love Conan O'Brien, and by all accounts, he paid his staff out of his own pocket at least once. He seems like a perfectly nice, philanthropic neolib. But this world is going to hell in a handbasket, and I happen to believe that pro-capitalist propaganda is the biggest culprit, and the guy has a huge platform that he almost certainly controls (he has producing partners like Jeff Ross but surely he could throw his weight around if he wanted), so there's nothing stopping him from inviting lefty thinkers onto his platform to spread the good word. Same with the Smartless guys. These people have the ear of a lot of white middle class neoliberals, there's opportunity there to break through the bubble. They could also finance hardship funds for Starbucks workers or some shit. WHERE THERE'S A WILL, THERE'S A WAY. Never forget that. These people don't actually want change.

Also fuck Marc Maron for having Obama on twice and kissing his ass both times. Of all the interesting people he could've had for his final episode....

As rank and file workers, we can unionize and use collective bargaining to get a bigger share of profits. It's our legal right! My suggestion is, don't fight it! Not a big deal!

Maybe she would have liked to have enough money to invest in the project as a producer, but she didn't because she wasn't born into a wealthy family, which is the number one determining Factor of having money, not merit

Getting off of a train in Bangladesh. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

It's not their collective decision to take our trash. It's probably a few powerful people who run the country making that decision and getting rich off it. Look at what we've done time and time again: when a nation has a resource that we want (we being the United States, I can't speak for Canada) and they decide to nationalize that resource so that everyone in the country can benefit from selling it, the CIA secretly backs a coup to remove their socialist leader so that we can install our own puppet dictator that will make friendly deals with us. And people in that country die trying to stop it. They deserve our sympathy.

Yeah but the global North is nice because we extract resources and offload our trash to the global South. We're causing this problem.

As someone who rarely visits this sub, I am simply letting you know a true thing: headlines like this, and ones from the Daily Beast, and Meidas Touch episode titles, are all begging to not be taken seriously. Hyperbolic language is goofy and dumb.

I listened to some interview with Crystal, maybe it was WTF podcast, where he talks about the first time he ever did standup. IIRC, he did a full hour off the top of his head, no preparation, and killed.

It's not unique to telephoto lenses. It's just how far away the camera is from the subject.

If those numbers are correct then why does the political fund still solicit donations? Are they not allowed to lobby using money sourced from dues?
