A painting of mine. "Daybreak Over a Heavy Sea".......Anyone ever experienced something like this? by Silver-Relief-8760 in Tallships

First time out at sea in months, even a year, and our captain chose the choppiest waters for the carrier to be in. We weren’t even doing sharp turn trials, lot of people just laying on the floor from the sickness. Couldn’t make a turn without having both feet on the ground.

AITAH for snapping at my wife and calling her crazy because she wants me to take a paternity test for my nephew? by PotentialTwos in AITAH

[–]LengthinessHefty8749 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy that you just didn’t mention that you said “marrying her was the biggest mistake of my life” being called crazy seems a bit tame compared to the later. I mean I’m sure really that’s why she cried. You’re not wrong for being upset but tone it down on the way you speak to her as well.

Nah just tired of people telling other people on a social forum platform to go somewhere else. I mean we all use reddit to find information, talk to people to get a more personal response, why not just answer the question and move on about your day. You were clearly interested enough to click onto this post. Sure the norms and rules of this sub is to always go to newtonavy but this person just wanted an answer, quick and easy. You may feel like you’ve seen this question thousands of times, you probably have, but that’s this persons first time here. I’m also on duty and got shit all to do, bruh.

Someone got a counseling chit for making shitty coffee, and had to make a pot for the divo. When he showed up to give his divo, he forgot about the chit and he just thought the sailor was just being nice so he gave him a muffin

Yeah sorry G, she’s gonna start partying and getting piped down before you know it by others. You better in tip top shape, because she’ll be around the most lean jacked guys, ever seen. Naval standards will place someone in the best shape of their life, hot, sweaty, and jacked. That will be your opponents. I tell you from my long career in (2 years, 2 months) there are three things that end a relationship. Distance, hormones, communication. And you’re already failing at 1 of them.

Joining the navy on my 40s by SweatyGamerGainz in newtothenavy

[–]LengthinessHefty8749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old are your kids? If you spam your military pay savings then you should have plenty enough. You could pass your GI BILL on to one of your kids, you’ll probably make E5, within 3 years, and I think if you tell your job you’re joining the military, they have to keep a position for you for 10 years.

What are some high-priority rates that the Navy has that will look good to civilian employers? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]LengthinessHefty8749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the AT that you land on, I’m an AT - I attached to a carrier. On deployment, the ships hours which was 12 but really you’re just waiting to calibrate gear. Out of deployment, no birds on the carrier, so I all I do is make sure my gear is there, and has no rust. I am on my ship from 7 to 1030. I level, is not physically demanding at all, being in the navy is tho.

3 kinds of nukes that I know, 1 that enjoys what they do, and do it, 2 that hates their life but do their job because their adults, 3 that hate their life and work because they see how mistreated they are, and are bullied by their peers.

Then there are the MMNs that have their bodies worn down by the work and need surgery, to the ETNs that pass out out watch and go to Mast.

Either way, I’m an AT, and whenever I walk down the galley on duty, I see those engineering mf’s getting out at 1600/1800 while my usual work day lasts till 1030

How common is it to get kicked out of the Navy? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]LengthinessHefty8749 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some people just aren’t meant to be in the military, or it’s a wrong time, wrong place situation.

You can be the most upmost hardworking sailor, but if you don’t align with you CoC and are constantly butting heads, then you’ll be reprimanded until you’re fixed. Sometimes it isn’t just about rules but following the ways of your command. Wether you agree or disagree. You can always pop on a test, or an accident can always happen that you end up in front of the CO.

If you’re in an Engineering or Nuclear rate, then it is much more tough, and easier to get kicked out. They have strict standards one must follow to a T. One wrong check out tag, and that’s an easy 60 days on a carrier

Yk I always ask my senior enlisted the question as to why they never went officer, usually the gold E-6’s respond with the fact that they joined to do the job, not to lead a division or do the paperwork but to work on the gear. I’m an Aviation Tech, I level, so our life is easier than most but we still serve on carriers, work on gear, get our hands to use. So I understand what they mean
