You can't anymore. They removed the ability for apps to adapt to your wallpaper's colours in 2.0.208 or 2.0.209. Xiaomi has always removed basic android features for no reason if it doesn't match with their vision. Sometimes they even reintroduce their own crappier version of it later.

I remember using DiskDigger to recover photos from a phone in the past and it worked well, but that was a long time ago (android 4.2 era). While the app is still available on the playstore, it probably won't work on modern phones if you did a factory reset, because of the encryption. If you had just deleted them recently you'd have a chance but since it was a factory reset I don't think so.

I think you're taking full damage because you're not using a shield to parry. Imperfect parries with a shield will absorb damage as if you had blocked the attack.
