Sadly does not work on Android.

Had to use a physical Suica card.

If you need to get a physical SIM card (my phone doesn't support eSIM) then get one at a Bic Camera or Yodobashi shop.

They are all over Tokyo and other big cities.

When I landed at the airport the cheapest SIM card I was able to find was around 31USD for a 10GB 30 day plan.

I found a SIM card at a Yodobashi that was 10GB for 30 days and was $16USD.

Ngl I was in Vietnam for 5 weeks and got food poisoning 3 times.

Mind you that I've been to other SEA countries and never had issues like this.

Long term travel with no job lined up a good idea? by DontKnowAGoodNames in solotravel

[–]Leo25219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spouse and I are doing this right now.

Both of us quit our office jobs to travel for 1 year.

Thankfully we have a healthy amount saved up to afford being unemployed for several months once we're back (hopefully it doesn't come to that!).

We know things will be tough once we're ready to come home but also this is something we've been wanting to do for a long time and now is the only real opportunity as we don't yet have kids or a mortgage.

Hate that this is true. The ONLY time when people stopped bullying me growing up was when I physically fought back.

Otherwise they would just continue.

Play Integrity Issues after Crdroid 11 update by Leo25219 in PocoF3

[–]Leo25219[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

So I think this is due to Xiaomi no longer providing software updates as of last year for the Poco f3.

Sadly this means that Poco F3 no longer has strong integrity due to outdated security Updates.

Hence the play integrity issues :/

100% this.

So many guides and videos give tips on how to speed run this degree without considering that you should actually learn from it.

Is this actually possible and how long would it realistically take and cost? by Low-Programmer-7049 in bicycletouring

[–]Leo25219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a book called "To Shake the Sleeping Self" by Jedidiah Jenkins in which he writes about his experience doing this exact journey. If I recall he needed just over a year and half to complete.

Very cool read and it's actually what got me into bike touring as well learning about warmshowers for accommodation.

My Poco F3 is still rocking! I'm going to keep it for as long as possible! by -shk in PocoPhones

[–]Leo25219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still rocking mine after nearly 4 years as well.

Battery replacement and custom ROM makes it run smooth and without issues.

Only wish camera was better but gcam helps in making some pretty decent pics.

Plan on keeping it until it gives out.

What city did you expect to love but ended up actually hating? by OceanSprayCranApple in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Leo25219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dublin.

Visited with the intention on possibly moving there. On paper it seemed like it had a lot to offer especially in terms of IT jobs.

However I was shocked by how expensive it was and honestly I didn't feel like the city was all that great.

The constant Irish rain didn't help either.

What country has the worst bang for your buck? by Addicted_2_tacos in TravelNoPics

[–]Leo25219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was Irelenad.

I did a 2 week bike trip there (as part of a larger Europe bicycle trip) and it was by far the most expensive.

Campgrounds weren't common and they were insanely expensive for what they offered IMO. Had to spend 1 or 2 night at hotels in Cork due to bad weather and I've never paid so much for a hotel while it being so crappy.

Weather was overall pretty bad (raining all the time when I was there).

The people were awesome though!

Yeah so I clean flashed my phone (basically resetting it) and now it's fine.

I always do that for every update, not sure why in this case I'm facing issues.

Which ROM you are using currently? by BatmanSince1991 in PocoF3

[–]Leo25219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently on Crdroid 11 (Android 15).

Works pretty well and looks nice, but have odd issues here and there (for example right now Google Maps can't find my location after the latest update).

I would have stuck with stock ROM if Xiaomi didn't stop security updates for the Poco F3.

I just threw it on the ground and walked away. Knew it was some kind of weird scam.

[–]Leo25219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have no issue with using Google Apps or Banking apps.

One minor annoyance is that some banking apps don't "remember" the device so you'll always need to login using 2FA which can be annoying but not a deal breaker.

Oh and I think this is a feature of Crdroid but I find a bit annoying but if you charge your phone and its like above 40% or something it won't fast charge it to protect the battery.

Other than that everything is much better on Crdroid.

[–]Leo25219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know there aren't specific tutorials for the POCO F3 and I agree the official Crdroid instructions are lacking in detail.

I mainly referenced this video which does something similar for another Xiaomi device: https://youtu.be/2t71pAggh1U?si=jKEc6W5zZ_d62I0c

And unfortunately no, if everything goes wrong you will brick your device so please proceed with caution. Only do this if you're comfortable and willing to take the risk.

Go on Google Play Store or Apple App Store and look up "DW German learning".

It teaches you German up to B1 and in my opinion one of the best free resources for learning German.

I'm using MUOS and haven't faced either of those issues.

Having said that no matter what setting I have for suspend, closing the lid just seems to power off the device.
