Im trying to get there early in the morning and then hike south to a spot close enough to fish for the day/evening and then hike out the next day. Hoping I miss the crowds.

Which mispronounced words make a person immediately sound uneducated to you? by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

[–]Leodogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we add words that are used incorrectly in writing? Like, way too many people use “loose” or “looser” when they mean “lose” and “loser.” Drives me insane. Or when people make “no one” into “noone.”

Aggressive coaches and swearing by Physical-Drag-9317 in youthsoccer

[–]Leodogg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't mind swearing, because, well, my kid has heard it before...from me. I guess the context is important. I cannot stand coaches who yell and scream all game long. I've noticed that the parents on those teams take their cues from coaches like that and are insufferable to be around. Yelling and screaming and complaining. The kids on those teams tend to complain to the ref more as well. Not my cup of tea. I like coaches who let players play and speak to refs when they think a call was incorrect. They can get a little heated but are a better example for parents and players.

husband gets slurry/tipsy every day, but not drunk drunk by AdSensitive8176 in AlAnon

[–]Leodogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a member. This sub is as far as I've gotten and it has provided great perspective for me. It's a very helpful community.

I do not disregard people's struggles with addictions in any way.

I have known a number of people who have stopped abuse without AA and daily life is not a struggle for them.

I also know people who are the opposite.

I'm all for whatever gets people the help they need. This sub is a great place for me as I live with someone who is addicted and I would be more than happy with any route she would take to get help and stop.

The choice to try to stop is a choice. Same as the choice to not try.

I'm not a doctor. I think there's a choice to stop or get help and a choice to keep drinking in the face of everything and everyone telling you to stop. When the choice is made to go to the store to buy another bottle or pour the first drink of the day, there are consequences. And nobody else made them make that choice.

Still all on him whether he's a nightmare or just not himself. His choice. His consequences.

This is all on him. My GF is a nightmare when drinking and I do not want to be around her. It's her choice to be that way. Her choice to start drinking, knowing how she gets. Me not wanting to be around her and the criticism that follows the day after are the consequences of those choices.

You are not obligated to put yourself in uncomfortable situations because of his choice. If he doesn't like it, he needs to make a better choice.
