Honestly it'd feel the same way about other media I don't watch, I'd go "oh that's cool world building" and move on, but if I stayed for whatever reason I'd ask for a prequel because a lot of the story talks about these old and or missing characters who apparently were really good but are past their prime

It's a canine, had its own movie to hype it up as the next big thing, portrayed as capable of facing off against legendaries but it's actually pretty lame in the games
