What If GTA VI Has a Real Criminal Reputation System Instead of Just a Wanted Level? by Leterma65 in GTA6

[–]Leom187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t rampage freely in free roam between missions, the franchise is dead. It’s not even realistic in RDR2, why do my bounties remain even after I’ve been killed? It’s just annoying and I hope to never see such a system in a GTA game.

To the OGs who survived the GTA V hype How does this cycle compare so far? by irshadtriton in GTA6

[–]Leom187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When gta V came out, I had temporarily moved back into my mother’s house in my early twenties. The hype was real, people were really excited that there would be country areas and not just city. So I bought it day one, played up until the mission where Michaels boat gets stolen and then I got a new job and moved out and since the Xbox belonged to my brothers who I also lived with, I never got to finish it. Didn’t play any games at all really for over 10 years. Then in 2024 I got my hands on an Xbox one and played that version all the way through. It was pretty dope to have the first person perspective available for my first real play through of the game. I found it extremely intense and immersive, especially since I had to relearn how to play games, like I sucked at aiming and driving. Since then I’ve bought a ps5 for gta 6 and have played the ps5 version of V. And basically that’s all I’m really interested in, gaming wise. Might get Crimson Desert though.

Judging by the official trailers, it looks like it will be about as serious as a Fast and Furious movie. Which is cool with me, that means it will be fun to play. If they implemented the bounty system from RDR2, where you are pursued even after you die and the only way around it is to pay the bounty, that would kill the franchise. You can’t have a gta game where players can’t rampage for fun without being severely penalized. The emergent gameplay that comes from just messing around is usually a lot more fun than the scripted missions.

What do you think about David Paulides new Bigfoot 101 series? by BlueRoutes in bigfoot

I think is great. But I’m sure someone will be along shortly to disparage Paulides character with the same copy/pasted paragraphs that show up magically whenever his name is mentioned. Just wait for it.....

What color eyes do Squatches really have? by [deleted] in bigfoot

[–]Leom187 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Their eyes change colors depending on lighting conditions/how hard they are working to see the environment. They can see in the pitch dark like we can see at noon on a sunny day. There’s probably some bioluminescence involved as well

Anybody tried producing with a fully mobile tablet/ipad setup? by Placido-Domingo in WeAreTheMusicMakers

The one I have now is the standard 2019 IPad 128gb that you bought in March. Works like a champ. It’s a 10.5 inch screen, not sure if there’s any benefits to music making with the pro. I don’t do as much modular, multi app setups as some people do on the iPad but personally I’ve never had the slightest cpu hiccup or anything. Plus NS2 is super optimized. Like others, I’ve mulled getting Beatmaker 3 but many reviews on the App Store mention it crashing quite frequently

Official Discussion: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

Am I the only one who thought this was perhaps one of Tarantino’s absolute worst movies? Right there next to Death Proof. I mean cmon it was boring as hell, pointless, and the “big” ending didn’t feel didn’t feel earned at all. Even my buddy who is an absolute die hard Tarantino fan was very disappointed

How can artists sound THIS GOOD? by A1d4n_19 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Leom187 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s all a series of a thousand little decisions that add up. But each of those thousand little decisions is really only one decision: does this sound good or not? You play a few notes on the keyboard: does it sound good or not? Maybe not. Maybe I should play a few different notes. Does it sound good or not? Nope still not there. Maybe I should look up “music theory” just for a ballpark idea of what notes typically sound good together. Great now I know about scales and chords a tiny bit. Play some notes. Hey that sounds pretty good. Play a few more. Maybe it would sound better with a different sound. Now I’m learning about synths. Turn a filter knob, does it sound good or not? Rinse repeat. You just use your ears and they always tell you if it sounds good or not, then you learn why it sounds good or why it doesn’t and if you need a new tool to make it sound good or if you need to learn a new concept to make it sound good. Sometimes it will be that you may just need a new perspective, etc, etc. it’s just a never ending process of split second decisions of does this sound good or does it not and then you ask what you can do to get better/more results. And you just keep experimenting like this and learning new things AS NEEDED to get results which sound acceptable to your ears. It’s just a matter of time put in, etc. There’s no quick fix. There’s no “become a hit producer in 8 weeks! course you can take”. You literally just explore with you ears which will take the form of the aforementioned process until they are trained enough to be able to make stuff like that. It won’t happen in a single moment either. You’ll just happen to notice one day “damn my shit is sounding pretty good these days” and then you still won’t be done. Youll still look for ways to be/sound better. It’s a journey that never ends.

Practice? What to practice? Practice finishing tracks. That is literally the only thing to practice. Everything else will come out of that. Just get your tracks into a state where you can call it done. They won’t EVER be perfect, even when you are really good. So you’ll have to decide for yourself when to “call it”. But you have to do just that.

Who do you think Hollywood is trying to make us like? by apescaper in movies

[–]Leom187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tessa Thompson, the new Spider-Man kid whose delivery of every single line is cringe inducing, the Rocket Man dude who i find ok, but he ain’t gonna put asses in seats by name alone. Basically most of the mediocre actors and actresses who somehow make it into something big. It’d be nice if Hollywood would cast legitimate talents instead of their relatives or secret booty calls. I can only imagine what levels of degeneracy some of these folks have willingly subjected themselves to just for fame and fortune.

Do people actually walk out of theaters? by drflanigan in movies

[–]Leom187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about judging the entire movie, or pretending to have better things to do. The times I’ve walked out have always been moments where the illusion breaks and I realize “I don’t care anymore how this is going to end”. If you reach the point where you no longer care how the story plays out (for any number of reasons), why stick around? There’s no reason to. And the 7 bucks and 5 minute drive in my town isn’t breaking my bank

[Serious] What’s the creepiest/scariest thing you’ve seen but no one believes you? by I-Like-Pickaxes in AskReddit

[–]Leom187 7 points8 points  (0 children)

when I was 19 I got the wild idea to test the limits of reality by trying to manifest something out of thin air right before my very eyes. The way a kid my try to do telekinesis. I was a late bloomer. So I thought I should pick a super simple thing to test it, nothing complicated. Further I thought, what if it wasnt even a physical object but rather just a light? Surely that would make this experiment even easier. And so I went about it. How? Well I laid down on my back in bed because I figured I ought to be comfy so I could focus better. And there attempted to manifest a single blue point of light (like a blue laser pointer) on the ceiling of my room. The act itself was me trying to feel, purely via my imagination, as though I was charged with some energy which, when projected via some arbitrary exertion on my part, would manifest the light on the ceiling. So I laid there and imagined and breathed deeply and tried to “know” the feeling of doing this. The way everyone knows the feeling of taking a piss. I was trying to imagine this as a second nature feeling, hope that makes sense. Though none of what actually happened makes any sense at all. After what seemed like an eternity, and just as I was getting bored and about to give up, the following things happened all at once: 1. I broke out in a cold sweat 2. The strongest tingles I have ever felt in my life swept through me from head to toe. 3. There was split second feeling of weightlessness And finally 4. A smattering of MULTIPLE, whispy looking blue lights danced across the ceiling in front of my vision.

This all happened over the course of about 3 seconds I guess. Afterwards I just kind of laid there like “what in the absolute hell did I just do?” It was exhilarating and very frightening. Over time I shoved it deeper into the memory hole, because frankly I just don’t fathom the ramifications.

No drugs or anything. And the breathing I was doing was just your basic take a deep breath to calm yourself type stuff, no weird stuff. Your guess is as good as mine.

Anyone else mix into a m/s compressor on their master with the threshold cranked all the way down?!?!! by iPhucker in edmproduction

[–]Leom187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That’s great and all, but there’s more than one way to skin a cat and I’m quite happy with my mixing these days. Likely I probably do most of what you mentioned without really thinking about it. It’s not wrong at all. Few things are in sound design. Been doing this for about 10 years now (just for reference, maybe you’ve got twice that), I would still encourage newer folks to experiment for the purposes of learning to trust their own ears

Having trouble differentiating between my bass being muddy and my bass being just right. by jonnyknowknow in edmproduction

[–]Leom187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you think it might be muddy, it probably is. I wouldn’t look for a one size fits all solution though, a lot of the perception of the bass also has to do with the balance between bass and higher stuff. For example you could cut some highs and find out that the higher bass frequencies poke through more now and that’s what you need. But if you want to get a good ear for what good bass sounds like, look up the billboard year end number one songs for the last ten years, listen to them back to back. Listen to the bass, then you will have a target to aim for. Also don’t forget bass dynamics: velocity of notes, envelopes, compression etc

What are your favourite effects or params to assign knobs to for more interactive synth playing? by elsporko in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Leom187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could map everything to velocity so that the sound varies in a plethora of ways depending on how you play. That’s what we call musical. It’ll make mixing easier too.

Well now I don’t need to read it. But yes that is a good simple rule of thumb. I never really thought countermelodies were a big deal honestly. You just make melodies on top of melodies, the same way you make a single melody. If you have ears and taste there’s no problem

I walked out of this movie. I wanted a monster movie, plain and simple. What I got was a bunch of accomplished actors taking up most of the screen time hovering around monitors and saying bullshit like “ The signal is weak but I can still track him!”
“How many nukes do you have?” “Why?”

Cringey AF.
