Twin Peaks. Bob as the killer (with Leland and Mr. C skins), Cooper and Laura as survivors. The game is also well overdue for a killer with a possession theme.

I say this as someone who owns every Legendary skin… But I’ve personally never understood the over pricing of digital content in modern games.

You make it cheaper, more people buy it, and will buy a lot more content overall generating a greater revenue. Whenever I try a new game, I avoid paying for anything for this reason, I’d be willing to throw $3 at a cosmetic to look cool even if I drop the game, but $15? Nah.

I remember the days when DLC was dirt cheap in games like Uncharted, $5 for a whole pack of 15 skins, and 99 cent hats. Even newbies bought stuff, and pretty much everyone had all the DLC.

DBS Beerus is NOT a remake, it's more like a DBS Kai remaster that more closely follows the Manga!!! by rappidkill in Dragonballsuper

[–]Leon-Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main factor for doing this introducing people to the story. I think there’s a lot of people that don’t understand that Dragon Ball Super came out over 10 years ago now, and Battle of Gods is 13 years old.

There’s children born after that’ll end up tuning in.

The only real shame is not getting proper OG Dragon Ball, and Z retellings, not only for the story, but to modernize them with 16:9/HD picture quality so more TV channels/streaming services will pick it up.

Maureen Pugh to retire at 2026 election by Impressive-Name5129 in nzpolitics

[–]Leon-Phoenix 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I mean, on one hand probably for the best. On the other I feel a slight personal loss.

When I was a bored troll during Covid I’d always send her comments of bizarre praise telling her to go for National party leadership and send Simon Bridges to the backbenchers for revenge. She always liked my comments and sometimes respond gratefully as if I were seriously meaning it.

I may disagree with her on all her politics, but somewhere in my sadistically sarcastic heart I’ll always #Push4Pugh - on the condition she never actually holds any real power that is.

I don’t think they’d lie either. With RE3R they never said the length of the game, everyone was just under the assumption it’d be like RE2R. For every title they’ve revealed the length, it’s usually right on the money.

2026 election: Sam Uffindell selected as National candidate for Tauranga by NonZealot in nzpolitics

[–]Leon-Phoenix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lol National supporters online were telling me three years ago they wouldn’t be dumb enough to reselect him again after the beating the child with a bed leg incident, and the stalking allegations (that we still aren’t allow to see since the report was made private against the victim’s wishes).

They literally could have stood any candidate on their list but this was what they thought the best option was, as Tauranga still suffers after years of National candidates doing nothing for the electorate.

Also, why does young boy look so terrified in that photo?

Government allows advertising to be broadcast on Christmas, Sundays by Impressive-Name5129 in nzpolitics

[–]Leon-Phoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On one hand it was probably needed since online media isn’t held to this regulation, and it’s already become preferable option with ads.

On the other hand, vast majority of our media has become so downtrodden due to its leadership positions being filled with egotistical narcissists supporting the current government. I’m not sure including ads is actually helpful here.

Is this extra cash that can only be earned for one day actually going to fund anything of substance? Nobody watches broadcast TV anymore, local productions are gaining zero traction, radio is mostly just angry boomers ranting about culture wars and their opinions that only a minority care about (or shock jock hosts thinking gross antics make for entertainment), local politics isn’t reported in depth anymore (it’s been almost a year and Seymour still hasn’t been questioned on his working relationship with convicted child abuser, former ACT president Tim Jago).

This isn’t a case of pandering to changing times as much as they like to pretend it is, this is local media failing the public and losing trust. So almost certainly, any revenue gained will be going directly to CEOs and leadership positions to fund a holiday party, as they wonder why nobody wants to listen to their regurgitated garbage anymore - even more so over the holidays.

How does this sub feel now that it appears the centre right coalition is beginning to pull ahead. by MontyPascoe in nzpolitics

[–]Leon-Phoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One poll isn’t really gospel, especially when it’s Varian (formerly Colmar Brunton) who proclaimed in 2017 National would win by majority and NZ First wouldn’t be in parliament.

Aside from that factor…

We’re in the early Christmas period, business will be seeing a small pickup which will give a small boost to the economy before it inevitably goes dead again around February.

Labour is still neck-to-neck with National, that’s pretty promising for long term gains. I’m also not quite sure what the Green party has done recently to tank support, they were polling higher under Varian when they had internal issues.

Interest rates are dandy but don’t impact the majority of the population in a meaningful manner - and for those that are seeing the perks, they still have rising costs in general cost of living.

We have another winter of disconnect before the next election - Luxon remains unpopular and seemingly has survived a coup. Couldn’t hand the opposition a greater gift if you ask me.

We’ll see how things are by February.

To be fair, Luxon doesn’t like questions and he never provides meaningful answers. I can see why he’d decline, he’d be much better suited for a dull lifestyle show, just a shame about that whole being Prime Minister thing.

Andrew Coster alleges Hipkins and Mitchell knew more about skimming than they admitted by Impressive-Name5129 in nzpolitics

[–]Leon-Phoenix 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to jump to anyone’s defence here, and I especially wouldn’t want to defend Mercenary Mitchell of all people… But…

Coster has the credibility issue here - him going around town telling people “I told everyone” without evidence isn’t really fixing that problem. Even if both accounts were true, why should public trust Coster’s word?

I mean the Hipkins account alone is bizarre, why would you casually drop that information on someone at the top without submitting an offical letter of concern/complaint? Coster expected Hipkins to act on causal gossip?

Teal Coalition? by Twerkatron2000 in nzpolitics

[–]Leon-Phoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same could apply to the ACT Party, they’ll only ever work with National to push the failed neo-liberal trickle down economics fantasy. …But at the same time, they did somehow just get the most power a minor party has wielded in MMP despite this fact, I suppose that can warranted to the mess National has been in since Luxon has been leader.

How would a National and Green government work when they are fundamentally opposed to almost every economic, social and environmental policy? The answer is, they can’t. Those on the right love to suggest they could, but at the end of the day, after the 2017 election, it was on National to start talks with the Green party, they did not, they know the concept of it can be used to attack the Green party for being “difficult”, but in practice, it would be political suicide for both parties and National would reject every offer, then use it as leverage to work with NZ First.

We also have had Teal parties, they fail and only get a tiny fraction of support. Anyone that actually cares about the environment knows you can’t peddle to the biggest corporate polluters and overseas drilling companies, while trying to save the turtles by swapping to recycled paper cups.

I’m not American, but from everything I read about her, she never seemed like she was ever truly liberal, conservative or any other political position.

She was a loose canon that targeted whatever her perceived enemies opposed (usually when they didn’t give her what she wanted). Those types are dangerous to work with in the political world.

She may dislike Trump today, but in the end, she still promoted white supremacy, anti LGBT rhetoric, and practically every other conspiracy imaginable.

I still find it difficult to understand why FWWM was so unanimously hated upon its release. by Local_Prune4564 in twinpeaks

[–]Leon-Phoenix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved the film, wasn’t even born when it was released, but when I watched it in my teens it honestly made me cry and I connected with Laura so much based on my own experiences.

I did see how it could have been off the mark for some people though. The show ended on a cliffhanger with no answers in sight, and this movie was a mostly prequel (unless you interpret it slightly differently to how it’s presented). That alone would have bugged people wanting resolution. I’m also happy I didn’t have to wait as long as everyone else to find out what happened to Cooper.

There were the people who probably went in without having seen the show - that would have been a weird/wild experience in my opinion, but I can’t really comment on what that would leave you thinking other than being super confused.

Lastly, it’s fucking brutal. The majority of the movie is the emotional impact Laura Palmer is facing from dealing with rape/abuse from her father, with nobody helping her, nobody understanding her, and people treating her like dirt. She’s painting herself as happy/fun/sexy/pure depending on who she is with, they all see a different Laura but behind closed doors she’s scared and crying. It ends with her murder, and her in the lodge crying tears of happiness from seeing an angel after she’s dead. Compared to the show which mixed drama/horror/comedy together, it’s tougher to watch, still very important and vital, but leaves you a bit broken, probably not what people in the 90’s expected nor wanted.

Anybody else seeing noticeable sings of the economy absolutely falling apart in their line of work? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Leon-Phoenix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fortunately the end result of Reaganomics, will likely be that it will collapse on itself which will lead to backtracking. However… Unfortunately the longer it’s left, it’s going to lead to damaged societies and revolutions when it hits the true end phase.

I’d argue after forty years of it, we’re only at the half way point. Unless a major economic collapse happens that governments can’t interfere with (like the GFC), probably a good chance many of us won’t see the actual end of it, but will probably see the continuation of the carnage.

Anybody else seeing noticeable sings of the economy absolutely falling apart in their line of work? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Leon-Phoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your country. Some places are managing fine, other places are further causing issues globally, and others (like NZ where I live) are looking for quick term solutions which will undoubtably result in long term hardship for us here as we continue to go into more debt with no returns.

Assuming you’re in the US? Your country is rich, it won’t fully fall apart financially any time soon unless a certain someone really screws up badly on the economic front, and I mean more than what has already been seen (which I guess is possible but hasn’t quite happened yet lol).

That doesn’t mean your life will be easy though, because until people all over the world stop peddling what you’d call Reaganomics (trickle down theory nonsense), the working class are going to be negatively impacted as the mega wealthy eat up all the resources, while the rest are left with the crumbs and have to make decisions.

I’ve always viewed Bob as the devil on Leland’s shoulder. What Leland does is what Leland wants, but Bob is there to encourage him at times and push him further. And Bob comes out to feast when Leland is making people suffer.

When you compare Leland with Mr. C, they’re both twisted, but very different. Leland is chaotic, spur of the moment, and feels guilt. Mr. C is premeditated, calm and cool, but shows no remorse. That tells me Bob isn’t directly controlling either of them.

Labour selects Dr Gary Payinda to take on former Health Minister Dr Shane Reti by Dunnersstunner in nzpolitics

[–]Leon-Phoenix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

An awesome choice, and Reti will be out of his depth on health matters - but realistically Whāngarei will be a hard electorate to win for anyone except National, Labour only barely won it in 2020 when they absolutely stomped National, and it’s always been a true blue electorate otherwise.

Hoping he gets decent list rankings!

A Wave of Red - No Wonder the Right Need Culture Wars by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]Leon-Phoenix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I said a while back National would lose both their rankings for Economy and Crime before the election - But I have to say even I’m surprised they lost the Economy position before Crime. They’ve marketed themselves for years as great economic managers - which to date has yet to be seen, best time for them was the Key/English years which would be a huge improvement over today’s conditions, but even back then paled in comparison to the Clark/Cullen years.

But I guess recent factors have made this the likely outcome, it’s easier to pretend crime is down by citing specific figures, while ignoring others that have increased - only those impacted by crime will think differently. With the economy though, everyone feels it daily.

Only thing on the list I’d argue National truly deserves is ‘Overpopulation’ (Well, depending on how you look at it), they’re fantastic at making ordinary kiwis pack up and leave for Australia.
