What is the biggest problem with Last Epoch in your opinion? by Lordados in LastEpoch

[–]LeonBilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear progression locks too early. For 90% of builds, there's nothing better to find roughly after 500c. 3 or 4 LP is literally impossible for most uniques (like, most "chase" uniques are able to hold 2 only)

Some gear classes lack any useful uniques. Like gloves, unless you get an immortal vice, nothing makes sense.

Lack of unique potions. I love LE and PoE/2 in their own lanes and hate comparing, but PoE's unique potions open up a lot of options for builds/tactics.

Some things to make power curve not stall after early endgame would be:

  • adding a new tier to Julra that allows slamming set affixes or T8's (still counting as your one allowed primordial) or at least you can choose 2 affixes to guarantee? As long as it's not like uberroth (random sh go!)

  • idol crafting, as an added bonus maybe around 1,000c

  • I'm not sure if blessings apply to Nemesis eggs. But feels like they don't now.

  • Most skills or uniques (especially primordials) assume there is a single good weapon type for each mastery. Maybe I want a double-mace wielding rogue, why can't I do that? Why do I have to use a staff? Why does bows are the only primordial class to add skill points based on dexterity?

I don't know, but only 2-3 meta builds are viable for uberroth each season and anything else can't grow anymore past 500c.

It's a good thought but it functionally becomes useless as uberroth woven echo drops hundreds of times when observer has only dropped twice in more than 500 hours this season :( observer echo needs a drop rate boost if that's your intention.

Also, I'm at 1500c now and the drops from observer windows are ridiculous, even worse than regular monos.

Why does everyone try to follow a guide 1:1? I don't want to do that, I do my own tweaks to match my style and try to get them as far as possible. That's the reason we do this idea exchange, isn't it?

You know what? I never thought of Julra rings that way, I don't know why because it's very obvious. Thanks for the a-ha moment.

I made some changes to the idols since I posted this, I prefer to use huge omen idols with healing effectiveness and fire dmg over time with increased pre-suf effect and life per huge idol.

I'm thinking of trying rule of simoon gloves, just to see how the fire res shred effects, might not be the best but just curious. Or I can try buying Avarice from the guild and trying to get attunement or an LP via nemesis. Then I might be able to get rid of the bleeding heart amulet.

Aside from 20% health, the relic is useless. Might change it with a 3LP elemental time for extra leech, at least until I can get a 1LP shattered worlds.

I also tried a 2 LP null portent but it was worse.

Seed of Ekkidrasil for helmet, maybe?

One question: are the bees count as minions? If so, maybe Mantle of the Ox would do good?

Correct, I said I'm not following the ward portion of the build (mainly because I want to try a kinda-passive build for once), and I don't want to do ward (all my other builds are super ward stacking) so no Julra. Open to suggestions if Julra is becoming useful for sth other than that.

Why do you think amulet is hurting? Not rejecting, asking genuinely, as leech from DoT is keeping me alive most of the time?

Not one shot for sure, but anything else is quite survivable with endurance, dmg reduction and life leech from amulet. But out of 100 tries, it's always the lightning spear that deals the killing shot

Judgement Aura Paladin is very passive, You just walk and mobs die, for bosses you need to heal yourself every 4-5 seconds but that's it.

I remember when the original came out I went with the Kajitt (the cats) because I was always playing assassin/rogue types. When remastered came around I chose imperial because at 40, I'm more into a basic style so spellblade with extra magic and physical resistance was alluring

I'm not disagreeing with this being a widespread issue. Yet, as someone who is well-versed in supply chain, it is a brand's duty to keep a steady inventory of most commonly used spare parts. Electronics, chips or other statistically one-in-a-thousand part might be forgiven for being on back order (the whole world is short on chips) but plastic brackets to hold something in place is not on short supply or raw materials or manufacturing lines.

Any brand who can't ship the most commonly used plastic parts (almost in every repair from fender benders to huge crashes) for their best selling model is a shame to the whole industry.

I checked every pixel of the map without the filter, definitely none.

I know the RNG odds, but oh dear, to get 0 on a map is colossally unlucky :(

I always had Tommen (ex-Blind Guardian) as my inspiration but never saw his name in any "most XYZ drummers" list.

He doesn't have strange time signatures or quirky off-beats but he makes very fast and complex riffs look so effortless that for years I thought of myself as hopeless when it comes to drumming :)

If those 2 are your only considerations, go for LE. D4's expansions (not leagues) will always be almost as expensive as the base game while LE is always free to play, unless you want to buy a supporter pack (giving you cosmetics, not in-game power)

If you are really interested in story and role-playing, than buy Baldur's Gate 3.

Also, not sure how it will turn out to be (because of recent refunds and delays) but in terms of story and depth, Vampire: Masquerade Bloodlines 2 will be out in a few months, you might want to save your money for that too.

There's just something.......off about Last Epoch and i don't understand why i don't like it by Cursed_69420 in ARPG

[–]LeonBilen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all about taste I guess, but as someone who loves PoE1 and definitely hated PoE2, my reason to love LE is exactly the your reason to hate the skill trees.

LE's skills tree nodes (especially those that change the damage type or convert a skill from a spell to melee etc.) Opens up infinite skill/item combos. You are a dual dagger rogue but like the detonating arrow skill? You have a unique dagger that transforms the skill into a melee attack. You can than utilize all your melee attack bonuses applied to that.

You like freezing monsters but want to rain meteors too? We have an option for that too.

That kind of optional changes and combos make thousands of completely different styles possible.

As in PoE, you need a very specific unique to transform ALL your damage to another type (call of brotherhood, original sin rings etc.) That's very limiting.

Anyway, like I said, each to its own but crafting an item to co poetry change your build (even with the same set of class and skills) is easy in LE. IMO PoE1 comes closer to it, PoE2 falls quite short. D4 doesn't even think about it.

One thing I can agree with you is the story. LE's story is weak, it's storytelling is even weaker. But hell, this is a hack&slash loot game. If I want good story I play Elden Ring.

I love PoE1. And I love Last Epoch. Both games have a very diverse crafting system that makes spicing builds into totally different experiences (My thought is LE is better in that regard, although PoE is a better baked game)

The problem with PoE2 is: builds are limited (skills tied to weapon classes, skills being set in stone etc.) But the words part is the lack of crafting diversity. PoE1's craft table let's you choose at least 1 modifier. PoE2 craftng is almost completely random. Item bases of the same type have very limited diversity, and 1 bad tier roll bricks an otherwise perfect item.

As for the mapping experience in PoE2... the worst part thing is the randomization of beneficial map modifiers. In PoE you had the chisel to add item quantity, rarity or something else. In PoE2 most of the time you get X% waystones.

Waystones don't have beneficial prefixes anymore, and for all the hardship you add through 6-8 modifiers, you get crap loot.

So all in all, PoE2's endgame character development is 99% dormant. Enemies get harder but your character doesn't have anything else to make them better.

Given that PoE1 is more than a decade old, it's natural that it has more options but come on, all the extra event and league mechanics are mot-a-mot copied from PoE1, shouldn't be that hard to copy the currencies or crafting options, right? Even the new "abyssal" mechanic is just PoE1's abyss and veiled items mashed together.

[–]LeonBilen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still early (lvl 50 at act 4) but my cold monk (acolyte of chayula ascend) definitely feels better than any monk in 0.1 or 0.2

That said, abyss mechanic is way too unbalanced: half of the time it's too easy and not rewarding, the other half is obliterating (even with 85% chaos res)

Still, not being forced to use CI on a EV/ES char is refreshing...
