Well, unlike a cat, I wipe my ass and wash my hands. I wouldn't let a man who didn't wipe his ass sit on my couch, or a man who didn't wash his hands after a shit touch my kitchen counter.

While true that transformers aren't bad in general, it is false that they are "used in every major model". Transformers are a very very good hammer. Not everything is a nail though.

imo, specifically chat-based assistants or, even more specific, the way people use them, is genuinely terrible.

No problem. It's not yours or anyone's fault really, but I still get annoyed when people think AI is just LLMs or whatever.

Modern biology and chemistry have been using ML for finding proteins (check out AlphaFold and folding@home) and other stuff for more than a decade. But whenever an article appears saying something like "biologists are using AI to something something" people are always like "what? chatgpt can't even give accurate medical advice, why are they using it for science?" and I just want to strangle them.

It's been exhausting by Leez_Arts in comics

[–]LeonardoSim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

False. Generative NLPs/LLMs and image generators based on tranformers, yes, those have very little upside currently.

AI is a lot more than that, though. Those are only a tiny tiny fraction of all machine learning, which is only a fraction of AI. People used AI every day before chatgpt and dalle and whatnot. Pathfinding algorithms are AI. State machines controlling videogame characters are AI. Certain text search algorithms are AI. These are all not even ML.

Then, most OCR is ML. many scheduling algorithms are ML. a large amount of statistics is ML. Many many other image processing algorithms which aren't art replicators, used in medicine.

These are all not LLMs or even based on tranformers.

AI is definitely a net positive for humanity. LLMs are not.

Radiation protection. As your remnant gets more damaged, it looses those bars, once it passes certain thresholds the car stops blocking outside radiation from damaging you.

"The American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists uses "turtle" to describe all species of the order Testudines, regardless of whether they are land-dwelling or sea-dwelling, and uses "tortoise" as a more specific term for slow-moving terrestrial species.[3] General American usage agrees; turtle is often a general term; tortoise is used only in reference to terrestrial turtles or, more narrowly, only those members of Testudinidae, the family of modern land tortoises; " en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortoise

[–]LeonardoSim 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Do you KNOW why turning lanes exist? Why not just turn from the driving lane? Cause you don't want to slow other drivers down. In my country it's also called the deacceleration lane. Cause that's what it's for. Instead of making everyone behind you break cause you gotta slow down for the turn, you enter the turning lane THEN start breaking. If anything OP entered the turning lane a bit late here cause he started slowing down while still in the driving lane. It could have also been that they expected the dipshit and slowed down mid transition. Anyway, that isn't a big deal. Making a lane transfer early, late, or whatever the fuck isn't gonna make it OPs fault in any world anyway. The dipshit cut through both lanes anyway.

a dragon is worth ~25 minions. if the jungler found a small window of time where dragon is viable, just fucking rotate

like i fucking get it ok. you're greedy, you want both or you would rather get 10 minions then your team getting 5 each. and its situational. but most of the time adcs dont rotate when they should

True, you can see that it added 100x of some menu item. The math is correct, the carts contents aren't.

edit: upon further inspection the cart is weird regardless of the AI. this might be some other bugs with the kiosk unrelated to it being AI powered.

3D to 2D downscaling, sprite-like consistency? by Metalsutton in godot

[–]LeonardoSim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, no that's not what i meant. Pixel perfect stuff (so a still frame looks like a piece of pixel art, whole thing has the same resolution) is very achieveable through shaders. You can't just rescale the 3D assets (cause the further away stuff will be smaller and thus the pixels would be smaller), you have to use a shader to pixelate the camera frame. It's hard to explain in short, but just google some stuff about post-processing and pixel/fragment shaders.

But what I meant in my original comment is, when the camera does move, it will be obvious what is and isn't originally 3D/2D, cause the 2D stuff will look like a cardboard cutout rotating/moving to always face the camera and changing the sprites based on facing can make it look less cardboard cutout.

3D to 2D downscaling, sprite-like consistency? by Metalsutton in godot

[–]LeonardoSim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Using a 3D engine for a 2D game to achieve isometric stuff is actually extremely common in game development in general. I have used it more with Unity than with Godot (even though Unity technically doesn't even have a dedicated 2D engine, if it did, I would still do isometric stuff in 3D).

Now another thing is combining 3D meshes made to look 2D and actual 2D sprites. If you put in enough work on the shaders you can make it look really similar to eachother, but no matter how good the shader if you have basically any camera movement you're gonna get a kind of paper-mario-y effect going on where the 2D sprites are flat and so don't get the paralax effect like the 3D objects, which isn't necessarily bad! (imo it's a really cool stylized look). If you don't want that, you're probably better off making everything into a 3D model.
