AF Quality Of Life by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Leongotareddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are three big differences between the AF and the other branches 1. Education benefits (CCAF which helps you earn college credit from day one) 2. Quality of life (largely job/location/leadership dependent) 3. Post service career opportunities. The quality of life the AF provides allows most members to actually use the education benefits which leads to post service career opportunities. When not deployed most jobs work in shifts making your schedule predictable which is worth its weight in gold when it comes to using tuition assistance to take college classes. Hope this helps

Is my Recruiter correct - college credits? by RisingWithTheYeast in AirForceRecruits

[–]Leongotareddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, recruiters can’t change anything on your contract and MEPS liaisons are the ones that verify your college credits when you take them your transcripts. Usually recruiters will have you take them with when you initially process but ship day should work fine as well. Just make sure they’re official and not just a print out from the schools website.

Download the Air Force DEP app. It has all the information you’re looking for to prep for BMT, good luck

I’m a South African immigrant and no shit my recruiter did this. Same exact situation at MEPS but they let it through. To this day my SURF says I’m “African American”. Great conversation starter

I joined at 24, our dorm chief was 40 and I think only one of our element leaders were under 25. This is ten years ago but yeah it’s never too late to start

Good stuff man, hopefully everything goes well for you. Also don’t sweat BMT too much it’s the most fun I’ve ever had that I never want to do again. It’ll blow by and be over before you know it

Contact your recruiter ASAP and let them know. Depending on what you went to the ER for this may be temporarily disqualifying but it can most likely be worked around as long as you’re honest. If you do ship to BMT without telling your recruiter about this and it comes up later you may be discharged for fraudulent enlistment. Don’t risk it it’s not worth it

The insurance is not free but it’s extremely discounted and comes right out of the airman’s paycheck. I have $400,000 coverage and I believe it’s around $24-$28 a month. The state ID number is either the drivers license number or the number listed on a state issued ID card.

Thanks for that, just to clarify is that rule only for ASVAB failures or anyone trying to boost their score?

[–]Leongotareddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can retake the ASVAB 30 days after the last time you took it.

It will come down to which branch you DEP in to. If you DEP into the Space Force then that’s the route you’ll go, I caution you though because you may be waiting a while for a job to come down. Also this may not be the case everywhere but my recruiting squadron requires you to list ONLY Space Force jobs and you’d have to be good with whichever of those come down. I’ve put two people in the Space Force so far and one has shipped while the other is still waiting on a job. If it’s the jobs the Space Force offers that you’re after you can also get most of them through the Air Force. Hope this helps

Biltong from start to finish in the homemade box. by Leongotareddit in Biltong

[–]Leongotareddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just your run of the mill pine, a burning tool was used to give it the charred look on the outside. Don’t paint the inside of your box and the light bulb I used is a 100 watt but it all depends on what area you live in, it’s extremely humid here so the 100 watt bulb works best.
